Psychiatric Technician

Train for a healthcare career in just weeks!

The Psychiatric Technician Program prepares students for entry-level work in the mental health field. Psychiatric Technicians observe and assist mental health patients with daily living activities, therapeutic activities, and socialization. They take and record vital signs and are responsible for maintaining a therapeutic environment to ensure the safety of patients and staff.

Students will learn about normal growth and behavior before exploring common mental and behavioral disorders, symptoms, and treatments. They also learn about chemical dependencies, withdrawals, and treatments. Students are then taught effective communication and de-escalation techniques, as well as documenting patient behavior, recording vital signs, and more.
