Academic Resource Center (ARC)
The Academic Resource Center (ARC) helps students with public speaking, writing, math, and other select subjects. Getting help is convenient and easy—you can meet with a specialist in person or virtually, or you can even study at your own pace while a specialist sits nearby!
The ARC is for every MAC student at no extra cost, and we’re here for you the entire semester! We are located above the library at the top of the steps in room LB200.

EXCEL/Student Support Services (SSS)
EXCEL/SSS is an academic support program that serves low-income, first-generation, and students with disabilities who are enrolled at Mineral Area College and have the potential to earn an associate’s degree. Approximately 80% of MAC students qualify. The goals of EXCEL/SSS are to retain students until graduation, provide tutoring support to help them maintain a strong GPA, and to assist them in transferring to a four-year college or university. EXCEL provides these services:
• Broad tutoring support in most courses, in-person and online
• Advising services oriented toward course selection, degree planning, registration, and transfer
• Financial aid and economic literacy information
• Over $15,000 in scholarships and Supplemental Grant Aid awarded annually
• Learning Workshops providing supplemental academic support
• Campus tours and educational enrichment events
