Essential Functions

  1. Teach and assess English Comp I and II and potentially other courses based on instructor credentials and student needs; current courses are Tuesday/Thursday 2 :00- 3:15 traditional seated section on the Fredericktown campus and  Thursday evening 5:30pm – 8:10pm traditional seated section on the Fredericktown campus.
  2. Report attendance and grades as prescribed by the rules and regulations of the college.
  3. Adhere to department guidelines.
  4. Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.  Faculty members shall hold classes and/or laboratory sessions as scheduled unless dismissal or other arrangements are approved by the appropriate administrator.
  5. Adhere to all campus safety guidelines.
  6. Prepare and submit copies of syllabi to appropriate administrator for each class taught.
  7. Participate in assessment procedures established by each respective department.

Essential Functions

  1. Design courses to develop fundamental skills required to serve as an entry-level fiber optic cable installer or technician.
  2. Develop and follow an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught
  3. Develop content-related and appropriate instruction based on national, state and local curriculum through a combination of classroom and laboratory experiences (this include work-site locations) working in cooperation with the Business, Math, Technology, and Industry department.
  4. Teach fundamental principles of fiber optic technology, including installation, cable termination, fusion splicing, and using fiber optic testing equipment to troubl3shoot transmission lines.
  5. Develop and execute lesson plans leading toward student achievement of competencies in the area of instruction.
  6. Develop and update program curriculum.
  7. Experience with online learning management systems or alternative instructional delivery systems
  8. Present subject matter to students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques, such as lectures, discussions or demonstrations; ensures use of classroom time is organized and that instruction and clean-up (if applicable) can be accomplished within the allotted time.
  9. Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts; responds to basic student questions; may initiate study groups in preparations for examinations.
  10. Administer subject specific assessments to determine student levels of competence.
  11. Develop and enforce classroom protocols, rules and regulations; maintain classroom discipline; utilize effective classroom management techniques.
  12. Provide a classroom environment promoting active learning in the subject area.
  13. Communicate responsibly with students, colleagues, and community members.
  14. Manage and maintain program facilities and equipment.
  15. Teach fundamental safety protocols and perform hands-on labs working with fiber optic cables and equipment such as a fusion splicer. Follow all OSHA regulations maintaining a clean, organized, safe workplace.

  17. Prepare orders for the purchase of supplies, tools, equipment, and instructional materials necessary to support the learning activities.
  18. Maintain inventory and repair records and ensure the safe and proper operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  19. Remain informed of new trends, methods, materials, tools, and equipment in fiber optics industries. Develop and recommend new courses/programs. Develop new curriculum and prepare educational materials for future courses.
  20. Oversee and participate in field studies and assignments, travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as approved.

Position Summary

 Perform a variety of complex office tasks to provide support to the Allied Health Sciences Department.

Essential Functions

  1. Perform clerical services for the Allied Health Department.

  3. Have tests, forms, and other items printed and/or duplicated and collated when needed.
  4. Help organize off-schedule classes within the Department.
  5. Maintain electronic records for all students enrolled in Allied Health Programs.
  6. Assist Allied Health Navigator with enrollment of students for the various programs within the Allied Health Department.
  7. Take messages for instructors when they are out of the office as well as answer the department’s phones.
  8. Greet and assist members of the general public and have general knowledge of campus.
  9. Provide general information to prospective students.                  
  10. Process mailings and return tests to the National League of Nursing.
  11. Process applications and evaluations for all Allied Health Department programs.
  12. Mail acceptance and non-acceptance letters to individuals who have applied for acceptance into Allied Health Department programs.
  13. Supervise work study students assigned to the Allied Health Department.
  14. Assist with Allied Health program graduation, i.e.: send invitations and produce pinning programs that are distributed on day of graduation.
  15. Perform other clerical and related duties as assigned by Allied Health Department faculty and the Executive Administrative Assistant of Allied Health.

Essential Functions

  1. Recruit students, developing relationships with area high schools and community groups to promote college programs, attending college fairs and community events
  2. Advise students
  3. Develop, implement and evaluate effective revenue generating educational and training programs to meet community needs, seeking opportunities to expand offerings
  4. Prepare course schedules
  5. Submit proposed faculty credentials to Division Chairs for approval
  6. Schedule courses and activities in the building
  7. Manage student registration and assist with billing issues
  8. Serve as contact person for students, employees, and community members, resolve conflicts, ensure federal, state, local and institutional policies are followed
  9. Promote college programs and activities, assist with promotional materials
  10. Track data, analyze trends, make recommendations for improvements
  11. Communicate building closures and class cancellations with students, faculty and the community
  12. Administer assessment/placement tests as needed.
  13. Assess instruction conducting annual faculty evaluations
  14. Attend campus, community, and state meetings as required
  15. Manage files and materials as required
  16. Manage the center budget, submit and process requisitions and purchase orders
  17. Manage email, telephone, and incoming and outgoing mail correspondence
  18. Assist with recruiting, training, mentoring and retaining employees, address complaints, resolve problems, recognize exemplary performance
  19. Monitor student needs, recommend building hours and course schedules that meet community needs
  20. Coordinate an Advisory Council, prepare agendas, meet regularly to collaborate with committee members, take minutes, work to respond to suggestions
  21. Collaborate with Financial Aid Director to establish and coordinate scholarships
  22. Collaborate with bookstore to assist students in obtaining and returning textbooks and materials
  23. Coordinate with the business office to submit bank deposits
  24. Schedule and supervise student exit exams

Interpersonal skills:

Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a variety of people, including coworkers at all levels, students, parents, staff of external agencies, the business community, and the general public.

Highly effective writing, editing, and proofreading skills to develop marketing/public relations materials, reports, and make presentations.

Technical skills:

Working knowledge of information technology.

Accounting skills to monitor center budget and pay bills.

Experience

Education:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferred.

Work Experience:

Three years of full-time directly related work experience involving community education, marketing, public relations, management, and employee supervision.  Prior experience in a higher education environment preferred.

Industry Knowledge:

Demonstrated skills developing and evaluating revenue generating programs, including programs for adults, children, and special populations.

Demonstrated skills in marketing and writing.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position includes sitting, standing, keyboarding, filing, speaking, hearing, walking and operating office equipment. Some lifting and moving of items for room set ups is required. This position requires evening supervision of outreach center instruction.
