A representative from Missouri Southern University will be in the Concourse Area on Monday, February 6th from 9 am until 1 pm to meet with interested transfer students.
A representative from Missouri Baptist University will be in the Concourse Area on Wednesday, February 8th at 10 am to meet with interested transfer students.
Tickets are currently on sale in the Bookstore for the Little Theatre Guild’s production of “Almost, Maine”. “Almost, Maine” is a delightful romantic comedy. The show runs Thursday and Friday, February 16h and 17th at 7:30 pm each evening, and a 2:00 pm matinee on Saturday, February 18th. Admission is $7.00, $3.00 for senior citizens and students with a current MAC I.D.
The MAAA High School Basketball Conference Tournament will be held in the Field House February 6th thru 11th, with games beginning at 4 pm Monday thru Friday, and beginning at 1 pm on Saturday. Admission for this tournament is $3.00 for adults; $2.00 for students. MAC season passes are not honored at this tournament. MAC students are not admitted free to this tournament, as it is not a MAC event.
The ACT Exam will be given on Saturday, February 11th at 8 am.
The Future Music Educators at Mineral Area College are hosting an evening of entertainment on Friday, February 10th at 7 pm in the North College Center. Join them for “Trivia Night Like No Other!”. Individuals are also welcome at the door to join pick-up teams.
MAC will be hosting a “FAFSA Frenzy Event” on Sunday, February 12th from 2 – 4 pm in the Technology Center. By attending, you will receive free professional assistance completing the 2012-13 FAFSA, information regarding federal student & Missouri state aid programs. Attend to win a scholarship for attendance at a Missouri postsecondary institution for the Fall 2012 term! Contact the Financial Aid Office for further information and what to bring with you.
The Library will be hosting a “New Orleans Jazz Event” on Wednesday, February 15th at 10 am in the Library. FREE cake will be served!
NOTICE FROM THE FINANCIAL AID OFFICE! Federal regulations regarding eligibility for Summer Pell Grants have changed effective with the current award year (2011-2012). Students who received a Pell for full-time attendance for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 WILL NOT be eligible for a Pell during the Summer 2012. Students who receive a Pell for less than full-time attendance for Fall ’11 and Spring ’12 MAY be eligible for a Pell during the Summer ’12 term. ATTENTION CURRENTLY ENROLLED A+ SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS! Beginning with the Spring 2012 term, students who are currently receiving A+ Program benefits at MAC must complete 2/3 of the courses in which they enroll in each semester, as well as, maintaining a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Contact the Financial Aid office BEFORE you withdraw from a class so that you are aware of the consequences of the withdrawn classes in regard to you’re A+ benefits.
Assistance with math and writing assignments can be found on the second floor of the Cozean Library. The Learning Center offers help in arithmetic through calculus and Basic Writing I through Comp II, or any writing assignment you may have. No appointment is necessary.
The Student Nurses Association is conducting a raffle to raise money to help pay for the National Student Nurses Convention in Pittsburg, PA. Raffle tickets for an iPad 2, plus a Kindle Fire, may be purchased thru February 18the at various times in the Concourse Area, or from any student nurse. Four hundred seventy-five tickets will be sold at $10.00 per ticket. The raffle will be held at Homecoming on February 18th.
Mark your calendar for MAC’s annual HOMECOMING celebration, which will be held on Saturday, February 18th. Lots of fun activities will be held throughout the day, concluding with our men and women Cardinals “paddling” Three Rivers! Free FOOD and FUN for the whole family! We will kick off Homecoming Spirit Week on Monday, February 13th with “Chili with the Cheerleaders” at 10 am in the Cardinal’s Nest – FREE Steak ‘N Shake Chili! Next, the New Orleans Jazz on Wednesday, February 15th at 10 am in the Library – Cake, Coffee, and Live Music! Then on Friday, February 17th at 10 am, there will be a “Paddle Three Rivers” Pep Rally in the Field House – popcorn, games, giveaways, music! Wear red ALL WEEK to show your Cardinal spirit!
Official MAC Homecoming 2012 T-shirts are available at the MAC Bookstore white they last! The t-shirt incorporates Kirby the Cardinal, and this year’s theme “Paddle Three Rivers.” The year 2012 is especially significant, as MAC celebrates 90 years since the founding of its predecessor Flat River Junior College in 1922. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends may purchase the Homecoming t-shirts for $10.00.
