ATTENTION GRADUATES! If you missed your Graduate Seminar, you may view the seminar on-line at the MAC website by scrolling down to “Graduate Seminar video” at the bottom of the home page. Please note that this video was recorded this Summer, so any dates given should be ignored. After viewing, you can obtain a copy of the information packet from the seminar in the Student Services Office. You should also sign up for the Exit Exam (Certificate-seeking graduates do not take the Exit Exam). Graduate info packets are also available at any MAC Outreach Center. You may contact Mike Easter at mreaster@mineralarea.edu for questions or to register for the Exit Exam session you wish to attend.
EXCEL will present an informative workshop titled “Writing Well” on Wednesday, October 28th at 10 am in C9.
Phi Theta Kappa will sponsor the annual HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST on Friday, October 30th at 10 am in the Concourse Area.
RING DAY! A representative from the Herff-Jones Company will be on campus November 4th from 9 am until 2 pm. He will be located in the Student Center hallway across from the Bookstore.
The MAC Relay for Life Team will present a Halloween Drive-In on Friday, October 30th at 7 pm. Bring your lawn chair or blanket to watch the movie “Gremlins”. A $5.00 donation is appreciated – all donations benefit the American Cancer Society. FREE popcorn and soda while supplies last!
PAWS for PALS - Student Government is collecting donations and displaying "paws" for the Farmington Animal Shelter. Please help provide needed funds to assist with the care of these animals. Come by the table in the concourse area on MWF during the 10:00 hour, or see one of the Student Government members to
purchase a paw.
Omega Leo has adopted “A Friend’s Place” (formerly The New Way Shelter) as a year-long service project. They are collecting items to donate to the shelter such as books, games, magazines, personal care items, baby items including formula, women’s socks/sweat pants/tops/t-shirts, trash bags – almost anything you might have in your closets/pantries at home They will also take cash/check donations. You may drop off your contributions in the Dean of Students Office (AS100). A complete list of items needed is posted on the Omega Leo bulletin board.
RAD-IT Club and Student Activities are sponsoring the Second Annual Scarecrow Building Competition. Get your club or group together and compete to build the best scarecrow! First, second, and third prizes will be awarded and scarecrows will be on display in the quad from October 26th thru October 30th. For details or to reserve a place for your team, pick up an entry form in the Student Services Office.
OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH! Did you know that mammograms are the best method for early detection of breast cancer? Did you know that early detection of the disease may allow for more treatment options? Did you know the majority of women who develop breast cancer do not have a family history of the disease? Learn more about breast cancer at www.cancer.org. The MAC Race for the Cure Team is sponsoring a Yoplait Lid Drive! Yoplait Yogurt, a Race for the Cure sponsor, donates 10 cents to cancer research for every Yoplait lid collected in October. Place your “clean PINK” lids in the Yoplait collection box located outside the Student Services area.
Mark your calendar for the Mineral Area College Christmas Celebration, sponsored by the MAC Classified Staff! A variety of musical entertainment provided by the Jazz Band, the Marvels, and the MAC Choir will get you in the Christmas spirit on Tuesday, December 1st from 5 to 7 pm in the Concourse Area. Bring the kids – Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making an appearance! The “Barbie Toy Drive” will be given to Season of Hope! FREE REFRESHMENTS!
