First- Time College Student
First-time college students are encouraged to come to the Perryville Higher Education Center to enroll.

Step 1: Complete the Application for Admission or apply online.
Step 2: Apply for financial aid, if needed.
Step 3: Request that your high school send an official high school transcript to:  Admissions Office, Mineral Area College, P. O. Box 1000, Park Hills, MO   63601.
Step 4: Have your official ACT scores reported to Mineral Area College (MAC). This can be done at the time you register to take the test.  If you did not arrange to have your scores sent to Mineral Area College, check with your high school counselor to see if your scores are on your high school transcript.  Scores listed on high school transcripts are acceptable

Web Registration
MAC has implemented a new step in the registration procedure – Web registration. This is an interactive Web application that allows students to search, register and pay for classes online. Currently enrolled students are eligible for Web registration. High school students participating in Dual Enrollment are not currently eligible for Web registration.

The process is started by visiting and clicking on “SIS-Student Information System’ at the bottom of the page.

Prior to registration, make sure:
• You have completed all prerequisites for all classes for which you plan to enroll.
• There are no outstanding holds on your record.
• All your financial obligations are met.

Contact the Perryville Higher Education Center at (573) 547-4143 or e-mail us at if you have questions about registration.

General education and University Studies courses are currently being offered at the Perryville Higher Education Center (PHEC).

At PHEC, “you’re closer to your degree than you think.”   We offer courses through Mineral Area College and Central Methodist University.

Why should the PHEC be your next step?

We are:

  • Convenient. Classes fit in with your busy schedule – morning, afternoon or evening.  Courses are offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters.
  • Close to Home. We are located on the beautiful campus of the St. Mary's of the Barrens in Perryville,  Mo., minutes from Interstate 55.
  • Comfortable. Most instructors are local people you know.  With an average class size of 20 students, instructors are able to provide a supportive learning environment.  Fellow students may be your neighbors, friends or co-workers.

If you are uncertain about what college courses to take or what degree to pursue, we are here to help.  If your goal is to get a promotion, pursue a new career, or just to feel good about what you can accomplish, the Perryville Higher Education Center is “your next step.”
