Teri Douglas, MSN, RN, Director

Ms. Douglas began her teaching career at Mineral Area College in 1990 as Coordinator and Instructor in the Practical Nursing Program. She worked in the hospital setting for twelve years prior to coming to MAC.  In 1996 she became the Director of the Allied Health Department. She teaches Maternity Nursing in the Associate Degree and Practical Nursing Programs, Contemporary Nursing in the ADN Program, Obstetrical Emergencies in the Paramedic Technology Program, and a web based First Aid course.  She is responsible for all Allied Health Department programs.

Ms. Erickson began her teaching career at Mineral Area College in 2008 as a clinical instructor and IV Therapy instructor.  In 2009 she became a full-time instructor in the Practical Nursing Program.  Mrs. Erickson began teaching in the ADN Program in 2011.  She teaches Fundamentals of Nursing, Basic Pharmacology, Mental Health Nursing, Maternity Nursing, and Therapeutic Nutrition in the freshman year of the Associate Degree Nursing Program.

Ms. Hutcheson came to Mineral Area College in 2007 as a full-time instructor and is now the coordinator of the freshman year of the ADN Program. She began her teaching career in the Practical Nursing Program in Sikeston.  She later taught in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Three Rivers Community College. Previous nursing experience includes:  staff nurse and charge nurse in a telemetry unit, Clinical Nurse Manager of a Wound Clinic, Clinical Nursing Instructor for Mineral Area College, and Nursing Instructor for Sikeston R-6 and Three Rivers Community College.

Ms. Blum has been with Mineral Area College since 1996 and is the Coordinator of the sophomore year of the ADN Program.  She teaches Medical-Surgical Nursing I, Medical-Surgical Nursing II, Nursing of Children, and the LPN-RN Bridge course.

Ms. Helm graduated from the Associate of Science in Nursing program at Mineral Area College in 2014 and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Central Methodist University in 2016. She served as a Clinical Instructor for the ADN Sophomore Class at MAC before beginning her faculty career in the Allied Health Department at MAC in 2017. Ms. Helm instructs both Freshman and Sophomore courses for the ADN program. Prior to joining MAC, she worked as a full-time RN supervisor in the acute care setting, along with rotations in ER and outpatient surgery.

Ms. Junge began her teaching career at Mineral Area College in 2012 after working in the hospital and home-health settings for five years and serving as a clinical instructor for two years. Mrs. Junge assumed the role of Program Coordinator in 2013. She is a full-time instructor in the Practical Nursing Program and team-teaches all courses in the PN Program.

Ms. Mahnken began her teaching career at Mineral Area College in 2013 after working in adult critical care for 34 years. She is a full-time instructor in the Practical Nursing Program and team-teaches all courses in the PN Program.

Ms. Lay began her teaching career at Mineral Area College in 2017 after working with pediatrics in the home-health setting, mental health clients as a community nurse, and medical-surgical nursing in the hospital setting. Ms. Lay served as a clinical instructor at MAC for almost two years prior to assuming the full-time faculty role in the Program of Practical Nursing as well as instructing clinical groups for the Freshman class of the ADN program.

Ms. Suttles began her teaching career at Mineral Area College in 2012 after working for 10 years in the hospital ER setting. She is the Clinical Coordinator and instructor for the AP Hybrid LPN to RN Program and conducts the Simulation Lab experiences. Mrs. Suttles also serves as clinical instructor for the sophomore year of the ADN program.
