PERFORMING ENSEMBLES

Choral Ensembles

MAC Jazz Singers

An auditioned group that performs challenging music in various vocal genres, including madrigals and vocal jazz.

MAC Singers

A non-auditioned choral group comprised of both music majors and non-music majors.

*Community Choir

A unique mix of MAC students, adults from the surrounding communities, high school students, and music professionals who come together for the sheer enjoyment of music. No audition is required for membership.

Instrumental Ensembles

*Community Concert Band

A wind band that meets on Monday evening. The group is made up of MAC students, high school students, music professionals, as well as adults from the surrounding community. The ensemble performs a wide variety of literature.

Jazz Ensemble

An auditioned group that performs various styles of Big Band music and other jazz literature. The band is comprised of both music majors and non-majors.

Jazz Combos

Made up of students who wish to pursue the study of jazz improvisation within a small-group setting.

*Kicks Band

A community Big Band comprised of local area, professional musicians, and some college students, who like to play "for kicks."

Studio Music

An ensemble that focused on the creation and production of a large-scale, mass-media, musical-variety show. It is open to all students (singers/instrumentalists/dancers/media) by audition.

Steel Drum

An ensemble of steel drums that perform standard steel drum literature as well as contemporary popular literature. One ensemble rehearses during the day, and the other ensemble rehearses in the evening.

Guitar Ensemble

Provides an outlet for all guitar students to perform together within a large group setting.
