Job Description: The Medical Liaison is a specialized position. The focus of the position is to insure consumers who have the need for medical services are scheduled for those services in a timely, planned efficient manner. Activities will include the coordination of consumer appointments with medical providers, scheduling appointments, communicating and coordinating with clinical and care coordination staff. The Medical Liaison is expected to communicate and coordinate with the consumer’s other service providers in order to insure maximum benefit for the consumer. Documentation of all medically related consumer activities must be documented in the consumer’s Electronic Health Record at the time the service is provided

Job Requirements: Provides monitoring of physician/psychiatrist schedules across the agency to ensure their availability to provide services is maximized and consumers are scheduled for services in a timely and efficient manner. Communicates with supervisory staff and Medical Staff Coordinators regularly regarding physician utilization and scheduling. Participates in performance improvement and QA activities related to physician services to identify areas for improvement.
Required Skills: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Nursing, Education or a qualifying combination of education and/or experience in the appropriate field. An essential element required of this position is accurate and timely recordkeeping and the ability to use various software products in an electronic health records system. Must pass background check provided for the agency by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Family Care Safety Registry which includes the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Health and Senior Services. Must not be on any “do not hire” list with the Department of Mental Health or the Missouri Division of Family Services. Must have reliable transportation. Must have a valid Class E Missouri Driver’s License. Current certification in CPR/First Aid is required. This job classification is covered under the agency’s Exposure Control Plan.
