Job Description: The mission of the Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary is to provide a permanent home for exotic cats that have endured neglect, abuse, or other undesirable activities, and nutritious diets. Crown Ridge is seeking two interns for the Summer of 2009 to participate in the daily care and management of tigers and lions (diet prep, exhibit maintenance, etc.), participate in public tours, and gain a better understanding of animal training, enrichment, and behavior. Students will also learn about the operation of a non-profit sanctuary, fundraising, and USDA regulations. This is a great opportunity for students to get hands on animal care experience while learning about the importance of conservation work.
Min. Degree Req.: High School Diploma
Job Requirements: The best candidate for these internships will be students pursuing some type of animal care or biological science degree.
Required Skills: Applicants must be hardworking, focused, dedicated, and able to work independently or in a team environment. The work is physical and primarily performed outdoors in all types of weather. Good health is required.
Pay Rate: Unpaid
Pay Type: Unpaid
Work Schedule: 4 days/wk - some flexibility
Hours Per Week: 8am to 4pm - Avg 32 hrs/wk
