(12/7/16)  Freshman Cailey Bracken named All-American.  Cailey Bracken, a freshman from Dubourg High School in St. Louis, MO was named to the All-American Honorable Mention team this week.  Bracken was a 1st-team All Metro player for the Cavaliers in high school.  She helped lead MAC to a 27-9 overall record and a 10th place finish in the NJCAA Tournament.

(12/6/16)  Farmington senior Ainslee Finch signs with Mineral Area College.  Mineral has signed senior Ainslee Finch from Farmington High School to play volleyball next year for MAC.  Ainslee was an all-district and all-region player for the Knights the last two seasons as an outside hitter.  Farmington was 26-9 overall this past season winning a district championship. 

 

(11/22/16) Honors continue to roll in for Lady Cards.  The MAC volleyball team recently returned from the NJCAA National Volleyball Tournament after finishing 10th in the nation.  The Lady Cardinals went 2-2 at the national tournament, which was held in Casper, WY.  After falling in the opening round to eventual national champion Miami Dade College, they were able to defeat Wallace State College and Hill College before falling to Tyler Junior College on the tournament’s final day.  The 10th place finish ties the 2011 team for the best finish in program history.

Among the highlights for the 2016 volleyball season were a Region XVI Championship, a District K Championship and a 27-9 final record.  MAC started the season hot, winning their first 12 games.  Throughout the season they scored some big wins against top competition.  Their biggest regular season win may have come against #12 Jefferson College. Mineral Area defeated the Lady Vikings on October 19th, avenging a loss from earlier in the season.  The confidence from this match carried them through the Region 16 tournament where they were able to defeat Jefferson again to claim the title.

In the District Championship, MAC played District K winner John A. Logan.  The Cardinals were able to easily dispatch the Volunteers in straight sets to advance to the national tournament.   

Tim Copeland was named Region XVI Coach of the Year.  Coach Copeland has now lead the Lady Cards to two Region 16 titles, two district titles, and the national tournament twice.  He has an overall record of 278-125. 

Hopes are high for the Lady Cards again next season with eleven of their fifteen players this year being freshman. 

 

Cailey Bracken, Pam Zulaga, Jane Kickham, Taylor Covington, and Emily Eaton were all named 1st Team All-Region XVI. 

(11/21/16)  Mineral Area finishes 10th in NJCAA National Tournament. The MAC volleyball team participated in the NJCAA D1 National Tournament from November 17th – November 19th in Casper, WY.  On November 17th, the Lady Cardinals fell to Miami Dade College 3-0. (Miami Dade swept all of their matches on their way to a national championship.)  On November 18th, we were able to defeat Wallace State College 3-1 and Hill College 3-0.  On Saturday, the final day of the tournament, the Lady Cardinals fell to Tyler Junior College 3-2.  The MAC volleyball team finished 10th in the national with a record of 27-9.

(11/15/16)  Watch MAC at the National Tournament.  The volleyball team's matches during the NJCAA National Tournament will be streamed in the Private Dining Room on campus.  They will play their first game at 4:00pm CST on Thursday, November 17th.  Come watch and cheer on the Lady Cardinals!

(11/10/16)  MAC to play Miami-Dade in first round of National Tournament.  #13 seed Mineral Area will play #4 seed Miami Dade on November 17th at 4:00.  Miami-Dade is 17-5 overall.

(11/7/16)  Lady Cards advance to National Tournament.  Mineral Area defeated John A. Logan in straight sets to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament in Casper, Wyoming.  MAC won 25-14, 25-14, 25-18 to advance to the national tournament for the second time in the past six years.  The NJCAA tournament is scheduled for Nov. 17-19. Seeds and first-round pairings among 16 teams will be announced within the coming days.

(10/31/16)  Lady Cards win Region 16 Title.  MAC defeated Jefferson College on Saturday in four sets to claim the Region 16 title.  Tim Copeland was named Region 16 Coach of the Year.  Up next for the Lady Cards is a district matchup against John A. Logan, at home, on Saturday at 7:00 pm. The winner will advance to the National Tournament in Casper, Wyoming.

(10/24/16)  Lady Cards to play Jefferson in Region 16 Championship.  The MAC volleyball team will travel to West Plains, MO to take on MSU-West Plain on Tuesday, October 25th at 6:30pm. 

The Lady Cardinals will then head to Desoto, MO on Saturday, October 29th to play the Vikings in the Region 16 Championship at noon. 

(10/21/16)  Cardinals defeat #11 Jefferson College in home contest.  MAC scored its biggest win of the season on Wednesday, defeating the Vikings in straight sets.  On Thursday, the Cardinals defeated Lindenwood-Belleville on Sophomore night.  With the win, the Lady Cards are now 23-6.  Next up for Mineral Area is a road contest against West Plains on Tuesday, the 25th.

(10/17/16)  Cardinals go 4-0 in Hubs Pub ClassicThe MAC volleyball hosted MSU-West Plains as part of Midnight Madness on Wednesday, October 5th and fell 3-2.  The Lady Cardinals also hosted McKendree University, Rend Lake College, Butler Community College and Lake Land College as part of the Hubs Pub and Grill Cardinal Classic on Friday, October 14th and Saturday, October 15th. The volleyball team went 4-0 in the tournament.  The Lady Cardinals are now 21-6 overall, 0-3 in Region 16 and 2-3 in MCCAC play.

 

The MAC volleyball team will host #12 Jefferson College on Wednesday, October 19th at 6:30pm.  Fans are encouraged to wear red colors as part of the “Wear Your Red Night.”  The Lady Cardinals will also host Lindenwood-Belleville University on Thursday, October 20th at 6:30.

(10/7/16) Cardinals defeat East Central in straight sets. The MAC volleyball team defeated East Central on Wednesday. MAC is now 16-4 overall. The Lady Cardinals will also host a tournament on Saturday, October 8th.  On Saturday, MAC will take on Vincennes at 4:00pm and Kaskaskia College at 6:00pm. 

(9/19/16)  St. Francois County Rotary Club Spikefest is Saturday.  The MAC volleyball team will host Lewis and Clark CC on Tuesday, September 20th at 6:30pm.  On Wednesday, September 21st the Lady Cardinals will travel to St. Louis CC to take on the Archers at 6:30pm.  They will wrap up their week by taking on Southwestern Illinois College in the nightcap of the St. Francois County Rotary Club Spikefest at 6:00pm at Bob Sechrest Field House on Saturday, September 24th.  Below is the Schedule for this year’s Spikefest.

(9/14/16) Cardinals fall to #5 West Plains in road contest.  The Lady Cards traveled to West Plains last night and lost in 3 sets (25-20, 25-23, 26-24).  Mineral area is now 12-3 on the season and will play against Lewis and Clark on Tuesday, at home, at 6:30.

(9/13/16)  MAC Volleyball now 12-2.  The MAC volleyball team took on Missouri Baptist University JV on Tuesday, August 30th, winning in straight sets.  They then traveled to Vincennes, IN to compete in the Blazer Classic on Friday, September 9th and Saturday, September 10th.  On Friday, the Lady Cardinals defeated Glen Oaks CC and Malcolm X College in straight sets.  On Saturday, they fell to #18 Wallace State CC 3-0 and host Vincennes University 3-2.  The Lady Cardinals record is now 12-2.  They play against West Plains tonight in West Plains, MO. 

(9/6/16)  Cardinals now 9-0 on the season.  The MAC volleyball team played their first home match of the season on Tuesday, August 30th and defeated McKendree University JV in straight sets.  They then traveled to Springfield, IL to compete in the Lincoln Land CC Invitational on Friday, September 2nd and Saturday, September 3rd.  On Friday, the Lady Cardinals defeated Illinois Central College 3-1 and Black Hawk College – East 3-1.  On Saturday, they defeated Lakeland CC 3-0 and Lincoln Land CC 3-0.  The Lady Cardinals moved to 9-0 to start the 2016 season.

 

The MAC volleyball team will play at home on Wednesday, September 7th at 6:30pm against Missouri Baptist JV.  This match will be “Camper Night” and anyone who has participated in a MAC volleyball team or individual camp is encouraged to come watch the Lady Cardinals.  Former campers will have the chance to take home some MAC Lady Cardinals volleyball giveaways.  The MAC Lady Cardinals will also travel to Vincennes University in Vincennes, IN to participate in the Blazer Classic this weekend.  On Friday, September 9th, they will take on Glen Oaks College at 6:00pm and Malcolm X College at 8:00pm.  On Saturday, September 10th, they will wrap up the tournament by taking on Wallace State College at noon and Vincennes University at 2:00pm.  The MAC volleyball team is currently 9-0.

 

(8/29/16)  Lady Cards win 4 matches to start 2016 season. 

The MAC volleyball team kicked off their 2016 regular season last week with four wins at a tournament at Kankakee CC in Kankakee, IL.  On Friday, August 26th, Lady Cardinals defeated McHenry County College and Illinois Valley CC in straight sets.  On Saturday, August 27th, they also defeated Kaskaskia College and Kankakee CC in straight sets.  Jessica Lindsey and Cailey Bracken were both selected to the Kankakee All-Tournament Team.  The Lady Cardinals begin their season 4-0 and have not yet lost a set.    

(8/24/16) Women's Volleyball Opens Season at Kankakee Invitational.

The MAC volleyball team will open up their regular season schedule this week.  They will travel to Kankakee CC in Kankakee, IL for a tournament on Friday, August 26th and Saturday, August 27th.  On Friday, the Lady Cardinals will take on McHenry CC at 5:00pm and Illinois Valley CC at 7:00pm.  They will conclude the tournament on Saturday by taking on Kaskaskia CC at 11:00am and Kankakee CC at 1:00pm.

(11/2/15) Cardinals season ends in the Region 16 Tournament. 

The Mineral Area College volleyball team participated in the Region 16 volleyball tournament over the weekend.  MAC played Jefferson College on Friday, October 30th in the Region 16 semi-final.  The Lady Cardinals lost to Jefferson in three sets.  The MAC Lady Cardinal volleyball team finished the season with a record of 26-10.

(10/28/15)  Mineral Area defeats Lake Land in five sets.  MAC was able to defeat Lake Land last night in Mattoon, Illinois in five sets.  MAC is 26-9 now as they enter the Region 16 Tournament.  They will play Jefferson College on Friday night, at the Bob Sechrest Field House at 7:00 pm.  The winner will play against West Plains on Saturday at noon for the Region 16 Championship.   

(10/26/15)  Lady Cards nearing end of regular season. The MAC Volleyball team will travel to Lake Land in Matoon, IL for their final game of the regular season.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.  The Lady Cards will then host the Region 16 volleyball tournament on Friday, October 30th and Saturday, October 31st.

(10/22/15)  Cardinals fall to Jefferson College in MCCAC contest.  The MAC Lady Cards lost a road match last night to the Jefferson College Vikings.  Mineral Area lost in straight sets by the scores of 25-14, 25-23, 25-23.  Mineral Area is now 24-9 overall and have two regular season contests left before the Region 16 Tournament.

(10/16/15) Lady Cards go 4-0 in Butler Tournament. MAC traveled to Butler Community College in Kansas to participate in the Butler, Kansas Tournament.  The Lady Cards won all four games of the tournament without losing a single set.  The Lady Cardinals went 3-0 in all four games, defeating Garden City, Clarendon, Butler and Friends University JV.  The MAC Lady Cards volleyball team now has a record of 24-8 on the season. 

The MAC volleyball team will travel to Hillsboro, MO on Wednesday, October 21st to take on nationally ranked Jefferson College.  Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.  The Lady Cards will then be in action on Thursday, October 22nd as they host Lewis and Clark for Sophomore Night at the Bob Sechrest Field House.  Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

(10/14/15)  Cardinals fall to #17 West Plains.  MAC lost last night to the West Plains Grizzlies at the Bob Sechrest Field House.  The Lady Cards lost in 4 sets and have a record of 20-8 on the season.  MAC now plays in the Butler Invitational this weekend in El Dorado, Kansas.

(10/12/15) Lady Cards go 2-2 in Cardinal Classic.  The MAC Volleyball team won two and lost two this weekend in the college's Cardinal Classic.  Mineral Area got off to a good start on Friday defeating McKendree JV 3 sets to 1 before losing a tight match with Indian Hills 3 sets to 2.  On Saturday, MAC won their first game again defeating Rend Lake 3 sets to 0 before falling to Lake Land 3 sets to 1. 

Mineral Area (20-7) will next play against West Plains on Tuesday night as a part of "Midnight Madness." West Plains is currently the 17th ranked team in the latest NJCAA Division I National Poll. 

(10/5/15) Cardinals defeat McKendree JV in Rotary Volleyball Spikefest. The Lady Cards finished up their week by hosting McKendree JV in the Rotary Volleyball Spikefest.  The MAC Lady Cards won the match in 3 sets.  The MAC Lady Cardinal volleyball team now has a record of 17-5 on the season. 

The MAC volleyball team will host John A. Logan on Monday, October 5th.  Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.  The Lady Cards will then host the Unico Bank Cardinal Classic on Friday, October 9th and Saturday, October 10th.  Here is the schedule for the two day event:

(10/1/15)  Cardinals fall in 5 sets to #17 Jefferson.  MAC lost a close match last night at home, against Jefferson College.  The Lady Cards battle back after a first set loss to take a 2-1 advantage.  Then, MAC was up late in 4th set before a furious Jefferson rally lead to a 25-22 win.  The momentum carried into the 5th and final set where the Vikings won 15-12. 

Mineral Area is now 16-5 and will play McKendree JV on Saturday at 6:30.

(9/28/15)  Midnight Madness- Tuesday, October 13th at the Bob Sechrest Field House

 There will be tailgating with free hot dogs and soda in front of the Bob Sechrest Field House for the MAC student-athletes and the entire community.  The tailgate starts at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13th.  The MAC volleyball game against MSU-West Plains will begin at 6:30 p.m.  Midnight Madness will follow the volleyball game.  This will be the first look at the women’s and men’s basketball teams.  There will be a 3 point shootout as well as a slam dunk competition.  Pizza will also be provided.  Someone will get a chance to win free tuition hours for the spring semester.  We will also have our 2nd hour Courtside Couch drawing for Homecoming.

(9/24/15)  MAC cruises to straight set win over St. Louis C.C.  The MAC Volleyball team defeated St. Louis Community College last night, at home, in straight sets.  It was the 2nd match in two night for the Lady Cards.  Mineral Area fell to #6 West Plains on Tuesday night in straight sets.  The ladies are now 16-3 on the year and ranked 23rd in the nation.  They will play against Lewis & Clark next Tuesday in Godfrey, Illinois at 6:30.

(9/21/15)  Lady Cards are now 15-2 and Ranked 23rd in the Nation

MAC traveled to Centralia, IL on Saturday, September 19th to take on Lincoln and Kaskaskia.  The Lady Cardinals defeated Lincoln in three sets and lost to Kaskaskia in four sets.  The Mineral Area College volleyball team now has a record of 15-2 and are ranked 23rd in the nation.

(9/16/15)  Cardinals defeat McKendree JV in straight sets.  The Lady Cards swept through three sets defeating the Bearcats 25-6, 25-20, 25-22.  With the win, Mineral Area is now 14-1.

The game with Missouri Baptist JV has been canceled. MAC will next play against Kaskaskia on Saturday in Centralia, Illinois.

(9/14/15)  MAC wins Kankakee Tournament, improves to 13-1.  The Lady Cards swept through the Kankakee Classic. The Lady Cardinals defeated Sauk Valley in three sets on Friday.  MAC then beat Moraine Valley in three sets on Saturday, and finished up the tournament by beating Kankakee in three sets.  Caroline Clifford, Jessica Lindsey and Makayla Campbell all made the All-Tournament team.  The 22nd ranked MAC Lady Cardinal volleyball team now has a record of 13-1 on the season.  They will play at home, tomorrow night against McKendree JV at 6:30.

(9/2/15)  Cardinals improve to 8-1 after home win over Kaskaskia.  MAC played a close, 5-set match with Kaskaskia last night, prevailing with a 3 sets to 2 victory.  The Lady Cards won the first set before dropping the next two.  Then, MAC rallied to win the 5th and final set to up their win total to eight this season.  Freshman outside hitter Jessica Lindsey (Dexter, MO) powered 19 digs, 18 kills, and served three aces. Libero Makayla Campbell (Imperial, MO) also had 19 digs. Caroline Clifford (Ozark, MO) added 10 kills plus 12 digs.  The Lady Cardinals are currently the 18th ranked team in the latest NJCAA Poll and will play Southwestern Illinois College on Thursday in Belleville, Illinois.

(8/31/15)  Cardinals now 7-1 and ranked 18th in latest NJCAA poll. The Mineral Area College volleyball team hosted Missouri Baptist JV on Tuesday, August 25th.  The Lady Cards won the game in three sets.  The Lady Cardinals participated in the Lincoln Land Tournament on Friday and Saturday.  MAC beat Illinois Central in three sets and then defeated Laramie County in five sets on Friday.  The Lady Cards defeated Rend Lake in three sets on Saturday before losing to the host school, Lincoln Land in in three sets.  The MAC Lady Cardinal volleyball team now has a record of 7-1 on the season.

(8/24/15)  Cardinals go 3-0 in Vincennes Tournament.  The Mineral Area Volleyball team swept through the Vincennes Tournament defeating Rend Lake, Vincennes, and Lake Land.  The Lady Cards are now 3-0 and will play at home on Tuesday night.

(8/20/15)  Volleyball opens up this weekend.  The MAC Volleyball team will play in the Vincennes Tournament this weekend in Vincennes, Indiana.  They play their first home game on Tuesday in a tri-match against Missouri Baptist JV and Williams Baptist.  Mineral Area is coming off another solid season in 2014.  They were the MCCAC Conference Champions as well as the Region 16 runner-up.  Their overall record last season was 27-9.
