(4/21) Mineral Area College announces player signings for 2008 season.  Cardinals Head Coach Tim Copeland is excited about adding five new players to the Cardinals roster for the upcoming season.  Brittany Sinclair (Setter) from Festus HS (Festus, MO) is considered a very hard worker and a good leader on and off the court.  Carrisa Garber (Hitter) from Crystal City HS (Crystal City, MO) will bring alot of energy and stability to the team.  Carissa's high school team went to the Missouri Championships twice in her four seasons.  Kelsey Devalt (Defensive Specialist) from Farmington HS (Farmington, MO) has a great work ethic and determination to win.  "The addition of Kelsey should help make our defensive rotation very strong this season," commented Coach Copeland.  Haley Motley (Hitter) from North County HS (Bonne Terre, MO)  has an aggressive work-ethic and should be an immediate impact on the Cardinals front-line.  Haley has been the go-to hitter for several years at NCHS.  Lindsey Malone (Hitter) from Jonesboro HS (Jonesboro, AR) has been playing for a very high-level club team for the past 4 years and has developed high standards for winning. "Lindsey's addition should help make us solid from the beginning," added Coach Copeland.

(4/18)  Clewis & Isham Together Again: Norfolk State University signs two MAC Cardinals for the 2008 season.  Angie Clewis and Aurelia Isham came to Mineral Area College together two years ago from Lancaster HS (Dallas, TX).  They will be leaving together with the same destination.  The pair will be attending Norfolk State University is a NCAA Division I affiliate of the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) located in Norfolk, VA.  Clewis, a 5'10" OH, was a standout performer.  She earned NJCAA All-Region XVI 2nd Team honors, and was selected on the MCCAC All-Conference team.  Isham, a 5'7" hitter, was a versatile player for Mineral Area for the past two seasons.

(4/14)  Andrea Lucas inks a National Letter of Intent to attend McKendree University.  Lucas spent two successful seasons at Mineral Area College after a solid high school career at Festus HS (Festus, MO).  The 5'10" OH was honored by the MCCAC as an All-Conference performer and by the NJCAA Region XVI Coaches as an All-Region selection this season.  McKendree is an NAIA affiliate located in Lebenon, IL.  "Andrea will be missed, but will make a definate impact for McKendree next season," commented Coach Tim Copeland.

(11/7) Three Cardinals earn NJCAA All-Region XVI honors for 2007.  Ana Markovic, a 6'0" sophomore setter from Serbia was selected as a first team honoreee.  She is joined on the first team by 5'10" sophomore OH, Andrea Lucas (Festus, MO).  5'11" MH Angie Clewis (Dallas, TX) was selected on the second team.  MSU-West Plains won the NJCAA Region XVI Tournament and Jefferson's Jo-Ellen Stringer was named "Coach of the Year" in her final season at the helm of the Vikings program.

(10/30) MAC's winning streak ends at six games: Blue Storm sweeps Cardinals in three.  Southwestern Illinois came to Park Hills and left a winner with a 30-21,30-24 & 30-17 match to end the regular season.  The Cards were led by Milica Balandzic with 10 kills, Ana Markovic with 17 sets, and Andrea Lucas with 15 digs.

(10/30) Cardinals grab three wins in MAC Quad match to notch the school's first 30 win season.  Mineral Area started off with a 30-15, 30-22 win over William Woods Univ. (Fulton, MO) behind Adrea Lucas' 4 kills, Jessica Davis' 6 sets, and Aurilla Isham's 7 digs.  The Cards stayed hot by defeating John Wood C.C. (Quincy, IL) 30-22 & 30-20 (Milica Balandzic 7 kills, Erin Menke 11 sets, Chelsea Pinson 17 digs).  MAC honored their sophomores before the contest with Missouri Baptist Univ. (St. Louis, MO) and the sophomores continued the 3 match sweep with a 30-15 & 30-19 victory (Andrea Lucas 8 kills, Erin Menke 12 sets, Ana Markovic 11 digs).

(10/29)  Mineral Area earns the #3 seed in the NJCAA Region XVI Tournament.  The 2007 Region XVI Tournament will be played at Jefferson College on Friday, November 2 and Saturday November 3.  A bid to the NJCAA National Volleyball Tournament (November 15-17) at Iowa Western College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, is at stake.  The #3 Cardinals play the #2 Vikings from Jefferson College at 5:00pm on Friday, November 2.  The Championship game is scheduled for Saturday, November 3, at 2:00pm (vs, winner of #1 MSU-West Plains & #4 State Fair).

(10/26)  Cardinals sweep Rebels in three sets to capture second place in the MCCAC for the third straight season.  Mineral Area traveled to Hillsboro, MO, to compete in the MCCAC Conference Showdown on Wednesday.  The Birds outplayed East Central College (Union, MO) 30-21, 30-20, 30-28.  Andrea Lucas (13 kills,) Angie Clewis (11 kills,) Ana Markovic (22 sets & 16 digs,) Erin Menke (13 sets,) Chelsea Pinson (26 digs,) and Chelsea Politte (10 digs) were leaders on the night.

(10/25)  Four Cardinals recognized by MCCAC Conference on the post-season awards list for the 2007 season.  Ana Markovic, a 6'0' sophomore Setter from Serbia was an All-Conference honeree for the second straight season.  Andrea Lucas, a 5'10" sophomore OH from Festus, MO, and Angie Clewis, a 5'9" sophome MH from Dallas, TX, were honored as All-Conference performers.  Chelsea Pinson, a 5'4" DS from park Hills, MO, was selected as an Honorable Mention recipient.  Jefferson College finished as the MCCAC Conference Champions, their Coach Jo Ellen Stringer earned "Coach of the Year," and Florissant Valley earned the Spotsmanship Award.    

(10/23)  Mineral Area stands at 26-10 with a 2-1 performance at the John A. Logan Invitational in Carterville, IL.  The Cards dropped the opener to the home Volunteers 31-29, 15-30, 30-24, 20-30 & 8-15.  Angie Clewis stayed hot with 11 kills, Ana Markovic added 25 sets, while Chelsea Pinson had 22 digs and Aurelia Isham recorded 21 digs.  MAC bounced back with a three set sweep 30-24, 30-21 & 30-24 over John Wood (Quincy, IL) behind Baily Stanley (11 kills), Erin Menke (19 sets), and Zorana Pilijeuici (17 digs).  The Cardinals ended the day with a sweep of Rend Lake (Ina, IL) 30-16, 30-20 & 30-26.  Leaders were Brittany Storandt (8 kills), Jessica Davis 13 sets & Zorana Pilijeuici (21 digs).

(10/22)  Cardinals need four sets to earn a win over Blue Angels.  Mineral Area grabbed their second straight match win with a 30-26, 26-30, 30-15 & 30-16 victory over Kaskaskia College (Centralia, IL).  Bright spots for MAC included Angie Clewis (11 kills), Brittany Storandt (10 kills), Ana Markovic (20 sets), and Chelsea Pinson (31 digs).

(10/19)  MAC beats Lewis & Clark (Godfrey, IL) in MCCAC contest.  The Cards used strong performances by Angie Clewis (13 kills), Erin Menke (18 sets), and Andrea Lucas (14 digs) to sweep the Trailblazers 30-23, 30-20, and 30-21.

(10/12)  Mineral Area stays competitive, but drops Region XVI contest to Jefferson.  The Cardinals were in all three games, before dropping the match in three sets to the visiting Vikings 25-30, 20-30, 22-30.  Andrea Lucas (9 kills & 15 digs), Milica Balandzic (7 kills), Erin Menke (18 sets), Ana Markovic (12 sets), and Chelsea Pinson (24 digs) were the statistical leaders for MAC.

(10/9)  Cardinals slip in Championship game, but 5-1 trip to Alabama nets Second Place in the Northwest Shoals Tournament.  Mineral Area opened the second day with a 30-14, 30-17 win over Southern Union (AL) (B. Storandt 5 kills, A. Markovic 14 sets, C. Pinson 10 digs).  MAC earned a smi-final win over John A. Logan (IL) 31-29, 30-18 (B. Stanley 8 kills, E. Menke 14 sets, C. Pinson 16 digs).  The Cards fell in the Championship game to host Northwest Shoals (AL) 24-30, 31-29, 31-33 (B. Stanley 14 kills, A. Markovic 21 sets, C. Pinson 18 digs).  Mineral Area moves to 22-8, finishing second in back-to-back tournaments over the past two week-ends.

(10/8)  Mineral Area stays perfect in Northwest Shoals Tournament (Muscle Shoals, AL) on Friday.  The Cardinals made a clean sweep with a 3-0 record in opening day action.  MAC beat Lawson State (AL) 30-14 and 30-22 (B. Stanley 6 kills, A. Markovic 15 sets, A. Clewis 10 digs).  Mineral Area stayed perfect with a 30-13, 30-26 win over Bevill State (AL) (A. Clewis 7 kills, A, Markovic 16 sets, C. Pinson 21 digs).  The Cards finished the day with a 30-23, 30-25 win over Wallace State (AL) (M. Balandzic 8 kills, E. Menke 11 sets, C. Pinson 11 digs).

(10/4)  Cardinals soar at State Fair Tournament, bring home a 3-1 record.  Mineral Area beat State Fair in four sets 30-23, 30-26, 26-30 & 30-25 (A. Lucas 18 kills, A. Markovic 33 sets, C. Pinson 33 digs).  The Cards finished Friday at 2-0 with a win over Lincoln Land (IL) who recieved votes in the last NJCAA National poll,  MAC won in three straight 30-21, 30-22 & 30-26 (A. Clewis 9 kills, A. Markovic 15 sets, W. Macormic 17 digs).  The Rebels from East Central also fell to MAC in four sets 30-21, 30-19, 20-30 & 30-26 (B. Stanley 14 kills, A. Markovic 26 sets, C. Pinson 30 digs).  Mineral Area's only loss on the week-end came to #19 Indian Hills (IA).  The birds were swept 15-30, 23-30 & 19-30 (M. Balandzic 5 kills, E. Menke 10 sets, C. Pinson 11 digs).  

(10/3) MAC sweeps Lindenwood in Tri-match, moves to 14-7 on the season.  The Cards defeated Lindenwood University (Black) 30-21 & 30-26.  Bailey Stanley had 8 kills, Ana Markovic 12 sets, and Chelsea Pinson 11 digs.  The Cardinals continued their winning ways with a 30-25 & 30-22 victory over Lindenwood University (Gold).  Bailey Stanley added 6 more kills, Ana Markovic had 15 sets, and Andrea Lucas chipped in 12 digs.

(9/25)  Cardinals fall for second time in four games to #9 MSU-West Plains. The Grizzlies jumped on MAC 16-30, and completed the sweep in two tight sets 26-30, 26-30.  Angie Clewis had 8 kills, Ana Markovic had 15 sets and 15 digs, and Erin Menke added 13 sets.

(9/24)  Mineral Area travels to Centralia and earns a win in straight sets over Kaskaskia.  The Cardinals (12-6) defeated the Blue Angels (12-5) 30-24, 30-28, and 30-20.  Baily Stanley (13 kills) and Angie Clewis (10 kills) led the way offensively.  Chelsea Pinson (24 digs) and Andrea Lucas (18 digs) were key, as Ana Markovic (20 sets) and Erin Menke (18 sets) helped lead MAC to a second straight victory.

(9/21)  Neither David Copperfield nor Chriss Angel's Magic could help Meramec get past Mineral Area.  The Cardinals swept Meramec 30-19, 30-17, and 30-21 to move to 11-5 on the season and 2-1 in MCCAC Conference play.  Angie Clewis was key with 11 kills, Ana Markovic tallied 12 sets, Chelsea Pinson recorded 16 digs, and Brittany Storandt and Milica Balandzic chipped in with 8 kills each.

(9/19) #9 MSU-West Plains moves to 13-5 with three set sweep over Mineral Area College.  The Cards drop to 10-5 and 0-3 in Region XVI play with 17-30, 13-30, 16-30 loss at West Plains.  Andrea Lucas had 7 kills & 13 digs, while Ana Markovic added 10 sets & 11 digs.

(9/14)  Cardinals earn first MCCAC Conference win of the season, move to 10-4 in 2007.  Mineral Area College defeated Florissant Valley (St. Louis, MO) in four sets: 30-24, 30-14, 23-30, 30-25.  MAC was led by Brittany Storandt and Andrea Lucas (9 kills), Ana Markovic (27 sets), Chelsea Pinson (34 digs), and Angie Clewis (4 blocks).

(9/10) #20 Lakeland nips Cardinals in three tight sets.  Most sports seem to be games of inches, or have a play or two that changes the outcome of the game.  Mineral Area found that to be true, dropping two tight sets 28-30 and 27-30.  Lakeland used the momentum from the close wins to sweep MAC with a 19-30 third set win to claim the match. Chelsea Politte (14 digs), Andrea Lucas (12 digs), and Chelsea Pinson (11 digs) added some solid defense, while Andrea Lucas (7 kills) and Ana Markovic (14 sets) led the offense. 

(9/6) Mineral Area College drops to 9-3 with loss at #8 Jefferson College.  The Cards were competitive in the first two games, but eventually dropped the match in three straight games to the Nationally-ranked Vikings 23-30, 24-30, and 16-30 in Hillsboro, MO.  The match was a Region XVI and MCCAC Conference contest.  Stat Leaders: Ana Markovic - 8 digs, Erin Menke - 12 sets, Andrea Lucas - 7 kills. 

(9/4) Cardinals sweep McKendree Tournament with a perfect 6-0 Holiday week-end.  Mineral Area started off Friday's action with a 30-25, 30-23 victory over McKendree College (A. Clewis 9 Kills).  The Cards continued rolling with a 30-21, 30-27 victory over Oakton (C. Pinson 16 digs).  MAC finished a 3-0 first day by sweeping John A. Logan 30-22, 30-25 (M. Balandzic 9 kills).  The birds soared in day two action by nipping Meramec in three 30-22, 19-30, 15-1 (A. Lucas 12 digs).  The Cards dispatched the Blue Storm from Southwestern Illinois 30-22, 22, 30, 15-11 (E. Menke 14 sets).  MAC finished the Tournament with a perfect 6-0 claiming the Championship with a 30-25, 23-30, 16-14 squeeker over State Fair (A. Marcovic 16 sets).

(8/27) Mineral Area College wins three matches in the MAC - American Family Classic.  The Cards started off their season with a 30-22, 27-30, 15-12 win over Lindenwood University (St. Charles, MO)  Chelsea Pinson was key with 13 digs, while Erin Menke and Ana Markovic had 12 sets each.  MAC dropped their second match to Northwest Shoals (AL) in a tight contest 19-30, 30-22, 6-15.  Andrea Lucas recorded 7 kills.  The Cards dropped a Region XVI match to State Fair (Sedalia, MO) 30-21, 27-30, 10-15, behind Baily Stanley and Angie Clewis with 7 kills each.  MAC bounced back to win their final two matches of the tournament defeating Lindenwood University II 30-20, 30-12 (Chelsea Pinson 9 digs) and East Central (Union, MO) in a Region XVI and MCCAC Conference contest 30-20, 30-22 (Andrea Lucas 9 kills).  

(8/21) Mineral Area College - American Family Classic Tournament schedule released.  The Cardinals will host a season opening tournament on Aug. 24 & 25 at the Sechrest Fieldhouse.  The tournament kicks off at 2:00pm with East Central (MO) vs. Lindenwood University (MO) on Friday.  MAC hosts Lindenwood University (MO) at 4:30pm and Northwest Shoals (AL) at 7:00pm.  Saturday action starts at 9:00am with Lindenwood II vs. East Central.  The Cards play on Saturday at 10:45am against State Fair (MO), at 12:00pm vs. Lindenwood II (MO), and at 2:00pm to close out action against East Central (MO).

(5/3)  Mineral Area College releases 2007 Volleyball Schedule.  The MAC Volleyball Cardinals will open the season on August 24 & 25 by hosting the American Family Classic Tournament.  The Cards will travel to tournaments at McKendree College (Lebanon, IL), Southwestern Illinois (Belleville, IL), Lindenwood University (St. Charles, MO), State Fair (Sedalia, MO), Northwest Shoals (Muscle Shoals, AL), and John A. Logan (Carterville, IL).  The Conference and Region opener will be on Sept. 4 at Jefferson College (Hillsboro, MO).  Mineral Area will also host a Quad Match on October 26, and be featured against Jefferson College to open Midnight Madness on October 10.  2007 Schedule Link

(4/20)  Lora Dickey signs with UALR to continue her stand-out volleyball career.  It's great when a local product plays for their hometown school and excels.  That's what Potosi HS graduate did at Mineral Area College.  This 6'0" MH earned All-Region and All-Conference honors during her sophomore season as a Cardinal, and turned it into a NCAA DI scholarship.   Dickey signed a Letter of Intent to play at the University of Arkansas Little Rock this past week for Head Coach Van Compton.  UALR plays in the Sun Belt Conference.

(4/18)  Monika Jaroszewics Inks to play Volleyball at Morehead State University. Head Coach Jaime Gordon announced Jaroszewicz's addition to the MSU Eagles' roster this week.  Monika is a 6'1" right side/outside hitter who is originally from Warsaw, Poland and Zamoyski High School. She was an All-Conference and All-Region honoree at MAC for coach Tim Copeland. "We are very excited to have Monika joining our program. She will be able to bring a dimension to our team that will help us compete for an OVC title next year. She is a very experienced and mature player that knows how to compete and score," said Gordon.

(2/8)  The Mineral Area College Volleyball program announces player commitments for the upcoming 2007 season.  Future Cardinals include several local products, and should help the team compete for a Conference and Regional title next season.  Chelsea Pinson, a Defensive Specialist from Park Hills Central and Chelsey Politte, a Defensive Specialist from Bismark will add local flavor to the team.  Brittany Storandt (Opposite Hitter) from Hillsboro (MO) High School, Whitney Macormic (Middle) from St. James High School, and Bailey Stanley (Outside Hitter) from Dexter have Coach Copeland excited about the outlook for the 2007 Cardinals.  

(12/3)  Four Cardinals named to NJCAA All-Region XVI Team.  Ana Marcovic, a 6'0" Setter from Serbia, earned All-Region honors during her freshman season.  Lora Dickey, a 6'0" MH from Potosi, was a local product that excelled at MAC earning an All-Region selection as a sophomore.  Other sophomores grabbing All-Region XVI honors were Monika Jaroszewics, a 6'0" OH from Poland and Jennifer Gabrian, a 5'10" Setter from O'Fallon, MO.

(12/1)  Mineral Area College places trio on MCCAC All-Conference team.  Ana Marcovic, a 6'0" Setter from Serbia, grabbed All-Conference honors during her freshman season.  Lora Dickey, a 6'0" MH from Potosi, was a local product that excelled at MAC earning an All-MCCAC selection as a sophomore.  Jennifer Gabrian, a 5'10" sophomore Setter from O'Fallon, MO rounded out the Cardinals voted on the 2006 All-Conference team.
