(11/19/09) Mineral Area Sophomore Jessica Bartlett signs National Letter of Intent with Columbia College. Columbia College, a NAIA school out of Columbia, MO has announced the signing of sophomore Jessica Bartlett from Linn, MO (Fatima H.S.). Bartlett had a very successful Freshman season for the Cardinals achieving NJCAA All-American honors, as well as All-Region XVI and MCCAC All-Conference 1st Team honors. Bartlett slugged a team leading 11 home runs while helping MAC to the NJCAA National Tournament in their first year of existence.
Columbia College, coached by Wendy Spratt, has a very strong softball tradition. They have qualified for the National Tournament 14 times. They have also won 14 conference championships, including 4 in the last 7 seasons.

(10/21/09) MAC Head Coach Dave Guemmer releases 2010 spring schedule for defending champion Cardinals. Coming off their 2009 NJCAA National Tournament appearance, the Mineral Area Softball team will open up their schedule at home on Febuary 20th against Cottey College.

(9/21/09) MAC Softball travels to the St. Louis University Tournament on Saturday & Sunday, Sept. 26 & 27. The Mineral Area Cardinals Softball team is nearing the end of their fall scrimmage schedule. They play 3 games on Saturday (Lindenwood, William Woods, Missouri Baptist) and 2 on Sunday (Culver Stockton and Missouri S&T). They will finish up their fall schedule on October 10th in a doubleheader against SLU and UMSL.
(9/14/09) MAC Softball hosts Flo Valley on Saturday, the 19th, at 12:00 at the Farmington Sports Complex. MAC softball played 5 exhibition games last week against Division 1 JUCO schools at the Missouri State Invitational. They are back home now and will continue their fall schedule against Florissant Valley on Saturday.
(8/31/)The defending Region XVI Champion MAC Softball team opens their fall home season at the Farmington Sports Complex in Farmington on Tuesday at 3:00 against the Three Rivers Raiders of Poplar Bluff. Then, the Lady Cards travel to Jefferson College on the 5th (Saturday) and the 6th (Sunday) for a tournament. They play on Saturday at 9:45 against Meramec, 11:30 vs. Illinois Central, and Jefferson at 4:45 -- on Sunday, 10:10 vs. Meramec, and 12:15 vs. Jefferson
(5/29) MAC Softball stand-out Bartlett voted to the NJCAA All-American Team. Jessica Bartlett was honored as a NJCAA D-II 3rd Team Softball All-American this week. Bartlett is a freshman IF at Mineral Area College, and played her high school softball at Fatima (Linn, MO). She earned All-Region XVI and MCCAC All-Conference 1st Team honors this season. Bartlett led the Cardinals in the power category, slugging a team leading 11 home runs. “Jessie has a unique combination of power and speed which gives us the opportunity to score any time she comes to the plate,” commented Coach Guemmer.
(5/20) Mineral Area College bats go quiet in NJCAA National Tournament. The Cardinals rode a hot streak into the NJCAA II National Softball Tournament in Normal, IL. But, a key injury to starting pitcher Jackie Higdon in game one, and cold bats led to a two game appearance for the Cards. Mineral Area dropped game 1 to Kankakee (IL) 4-0. Jackie Higdon pitched a solid five innings, but a quirky injury in the field after an error led to the first run of the game ended her day. Higdon was saddled with the loss as the Cards couldn't plate a run. Kelly Kruse got the only hit for MAC in game 1. The Cardinals dropped game 2 to a solid Macomb (MI) team by the score of 9-1. Kayla Ruess was handed the loss as the bats went silent. Marilyn Oquendo got the only two hits in the game (1B, 2B, RS) and scored the only Cardinal run of the tournament on a wild pitch.
(5/1) Cardinals sweep Murray State (OK) CC in District J Championship and advance to the NJCAA II Softball World Series. Mineral Area College earns a trip to the National Championship Tournament with two-game sweep over the Aggies at the Farmigton Sports Complex. MAC won the opener over visiting Murray State College (Tishimingo, OK) by the final score of 8-2. Jackie Higdon dominated on the mound (7 IP, 3 hits, 10 strikeouts, 5 walks) earning the win. Jessie Bartlett (2 hits, 2B, HR, 4 RBIs and 2 runs),
Marilyn Oquendo (2 hits, 2B, 2 runs),
and Kayla Usher (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBIs, 2 runs) provided the offense. The Cards escaped a late threat from the Aggies, clinging on to a 3-2 win to earn the series sweep. Kayla Ruess (7 IP, 4 hits, 4 strike outs, 3 walks) pitched through trouble in the sixth inning to earn a complete game win.

(4/29) Eight MAC Cardinals Softball Players earn NJCAA All-Region XVI honors. Three players from Mineral Area College made the All-Region 1st Team in the program's first season of exestince, including: Amy Allgier (Fr. IF), Jessica Bartlett (Fr. IF), and Jackie Higdon (Fr. P). Five Cardinals earned

(4/25) #20 Mineral Area Cardinals come within an out of elimination to Meramec, but battle to win NJCAA Region XVI Tournament. In their first year of intercollegiate competition, the 20th ranked Mineral Area College Cardinals women's softball team wins the Region XVI-D2 Championship. The Cards swept national-powerhouse Meramec in two straight elimination games to win the championship. In the first game, the Cards trailed by 3 runs and faced elimination in the bottom of the 7th inning. MAC loaded the bases and Emily Blumenthal, who had not hit a home run all year, unbelievably launched a walk off grand slam for the 10-9 win. Jackie Higdon dominated the second game from the mound and led the Cards to a 5 inning 9-1 victory to take the Tournament Championship and advance to and host the District J Championship. (4/24) #1 seeded Cards get shut-down by #2 Meramec, but advance with win over East Central to force a rematch. Mineral Area faced Meramec in a winner's bracket game between the top two seeds. Meramec dominated the contest blowing out the Cardinals 18-0. Jackie Higdon suffered the loss and
Amy Allgier broke up the no-hitter with MAC's only hit. The Cardinals fought off elimination with a 9-5 win over host East Central College. Jackie Higdon bounced back to earn the win, while
Marilyn Oquendo (3 hits, 2 RBI),
Hannah Hummel (2 hits, 3 RBI),
Emily Blumenthal (2 hits, RBI), and
Amy Allgier (2B, 2 runs) provided the offense. The Cardinals will have to knock-off the Magic from Meramec two consecutive times on Saturday to win the Region XVI Championship.
(4/23) #1 Mineral Area College advances in Region XVI Softball Tournament with 11-2 win over #4 Cottey College. The Cardinals got a solid performance from Jackie Higdon (5 innings pitched, 1 earned run on 5 hits, and 9 strikeouts) to earn MAC first ever post-season softball win. Hannah Hummel (2 hits, HR, 2B, 4 RBIs and 2 runs),
Jessie Bartlett (HR, 2B, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored). and
Amy Allgier (2 hits and 2 runs scored) were the offensive stars. The Cardinals advance to play #2 Meramec at 12:00 noon on Friday.
(4/21) Cardinals grab #1 seed in Region XVI Tournament by winning pair over Florissant Valley. Jackie Higdon was impressive on the mound racking up 6 strikeouts over 7 innings and allowing only 7 hits for the 7-3 win. The offense was provided by
Marilyn Oquendo (2 hits, HR, 2B, 2 RBIs) and
Robyn Pashia (2B, 2 RBIs). MAC won the nightcap 5-2 over the Fury behind Kayla Ruess (7 IP, 0 earned runs, 6 hits, 4 strikeouts).

(4/20) Mineral Area College splits a pair with Meramec. The Cardinals beat the Magic in the MCCAC Conference Finale event in O'Fallon by the score of 5-1 in the opener. Jackie Higdon allowed 3 hits and struck out 11 to earn the win. The offensive star was by
Kelly Kruse (HR, 2 RBIs). Meramec squeeked out a one-run win over MAC with a 5-4 victory in game two. Kayla Ruess took the loss and offensive highlights were provided by

(4/20) Eight Cardinals honored by MCCAC Conference Softball Coaches. Mineral Area College posted three players on the MCCAC All-Conference 1st Team in their fist year competing in softball. Amy Allgier (Fr. IF), Jessica Bartlett (Fr. IF), and Jackie Higdon (Fr. P) grabbed first team honors. Five Cardinals nab Honorable Mention honors: Kayla Usher (Fr. IF), Hannah Hummel (So. (4/17) Cardinals split pair with Falcons in MCCAC Conference games. Mineral Area College ran away from East Central Colege 8-0 in the opener in Union, MO. Kayla Ruess piched a 3 hit shutout with 4 strikeouts to earn the win. Amy Allgier (2 hits, HR, 3 RBIs, 3 runs),
Kayla Usher (4 hits, run),
Hannah Hummel (3 hits, run, RBI), and
Robyn Pashia (2 hits, 2B, RBI) led the offensive attack. But, the Cards offense sputtered as they dropped the second game 10-2. Robyn Pashia suffered the loss and the offense was paced by
Kayla Usher (2 hits, run),
Amy Allgier (2B, run), and
Marilyn Oquendo (2B, RBI). The pair was also a Region XVI-II contest, where MAC is currently 12-3.
(4/16) Mineral Area moves to 26-15 with a pair of wins over St. Chales CC. The Cardinals took an 8-0 victory from the Cougars in game one behind the arm of Jackie Higdon (5 innings, 2 hits, 5 strike outs).

(4/15) Cardinals sweep Raiders with a pair of 7-5 wins. Mineral Area College traveled to Poplar Bluff for a pair against the black and gold of Three Rivers. Jackie Higdon earned the win in the opener as

(4/13) Mineral Area College falls victim to great pitching. The Cardinals played Three Rivers in a single game in Poplar Bluff, MO. The Raiders won the contest by the score of 8-3. Kayla Ruess suffered the loss, and
Devin Pope broke up the no-hitter with the Cards only base-knock of the day.
(4/10) MAC Cardinals grab a 9-3 win in St. Louis, game two washed out. Kayla Ruess only allowed 7 hits and struck out 5 to earn the win over Forest Park. Amy Allgier (3 hits, 2 RBIs),
Hannah Hummel (3 hits, 3B),
Emily Blumenthal (2 hits, 2 RBIs, 2B, run),

(4/9) Cardinals winning streak ends at seven as Vikings earn sweep. Jefferson College dominated Mineral Area with a 13-2 game one win. Kayla Ruess took the loss on the hill; while

Hannah Hummel (HR) provided the offense. The Cards stayed close in the second game, but dropped a 7-2 decision. Jackie Higdon was saddled with the loss while

Jessie Bartlett (2B, RBI, run) were the offensive stars. The Cardinals are now 21-14 and 8-4 in the MCCAC Conference.
(4/8) Mineral Area sweeps Florissant Valley in MCCAC Conference action. The Cardinals won a low-scoring 3-1 opener behind the arm of Kayla Ruess. Ruess pitched a complete game, didn't surrender an earned run, and only gave up 3 hits, while collecting 4 strikeouts.
Jessie Bartlett smacked a hit, scored a run, and collected an RBI.
Jackie Higdon gave MAC another stong performance on the mound allowing only one earned run, and compiling 8 strikeouts while scattering 8 hits to earn a 5-2 win. Kayla Usher (2 hits, 1 run),
Marilyn Oquendo (2 hits, 1 run, 1 RBI),
Kelly Kruse (2 hits, 1 run) and
Danielle Kaempfe (2 hits, 1 run, 1 RBI) provided enough offense for the win.
(4/4) Cardinals sweep Cottey College for a pair of Region XVI wins. MAC grabbed a 9-7 in the opener as Kayla Reuss earned the win. Amy Algier was the offensive star going 4-4, with 2 HR, 2B, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs. Jessie Bartlett and Marilyn Oquendo added HRs. The Birds got a third straight shut-out from Jackie Higdon for an 8-0 win in game 2. Higdon allowed 2 hits, no runs, and racked up 12 strike-outs over 5 innings. Jordan Freese had 2 hits and added a 3 run HR and Hannah Hummel added 3 hits and 2 RBIs to pace the offense.
(4/3) Mineral Area College sweeps Missouri Valley JV behind impressive pitching performances. The Cardinals won game one 5-0 as Kayla Reuss earned the win with a complete game only allowing 1 earned run. Kayla Usher had 3 hits and an RBI, Marilyn Oquendo Amy Allgier, and Kelly Kruse each added 2 hits, and Hannah Hummel blasted a HR. The Cardinals ran away with the second game in a 9-0 win. Jackie Higdon threw a 1 hit shut-out with 8 strike-outs to earn the win. Hannah Hummel, Katie Roberts, and Emily Blumenthal all had 2 hits, while Jordan Freese added a HR.
(4/2) Mineral Area College earns a split with Three Rivers, get a complete game shut-out from Higdon in win. Three Rivers took a huge lead, played through a furious Cardinal come-back and grabbed a 20-11 win in the opener. Kayla Ruess was saddled with the loss as the defense was spotty. But the offense provided 11 runs behind
Kayla Usher (3 hits, 1 run, 1 RBI),
Hannah Hummel (3 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs),
Marilyn Oquendo (2 hits, 3 runs, 1 RBI), and
Jessie Bartlett (2 hits, 2 runs, 4 RBIs). Jackie Higdon earned the 4-0 win over the Raiders in a 5 hit, complete game, shutout, featuring 9 strikeouts.
Usher, Bartlett and Amy Allgier each had 2 hits to pace the offense.
(3/27) The Cardinals grab a pair of MCCAC Conference wins over Forest Park behind a red hot offense. MAC was on fire in the first game, earning an 11-3 win in an offensive explosion. Kayla Ruess earned another win on the hill, and several offensive stars emerged, including:
Kayla Usher (2 hits and 2 RBIs,) Jessie Bartlett (2 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBIs,) and
Amy Algier (2 hits and 3 RBIs). MAC continued to pound out hits in game two, earning a sweep with the 10-6 win. Robyn Pashia earned the win, while Jessie
Bartlet (2 hits, 1 run, 2 RBIs,) Amy
Allgier (2 hits, 2 runs, 1 RBI, & 2 doubles,) Emily
Blumenthal (2 hits, 2 runs, 3 RBIs, 1 double,) and Jordan
Freese (3 hits & 2 runs) provided the offense.
(3/24) Mineral Area College sweeps East Central College in MCCAC double-header. The Cardinals move to 12-11 (3-1 MCCAC) with the win over the visiting Falcons. MAC outscored ECC 8-0 in the first game as Kayla Ruess had a complete game, 4 hit, shut-out, compiling 6 strikeouts. The offense was provided by Jessie Bartlett with 2 hits, a double, and an RBI, Kelly Kruse, with 2 hits, a double, and an RBI, and Marilyn Oquendo, with a HR, and 3 runs scored. The Cards added more offense in the second game, winning 11-7. Ashley Sauer earned the win and Jackie Higdon notched the save. Offense was provided by Amy Allgier (2 hits, double, HR, 3 RBI, 2 runs scored), Hannah Hummel (2 hits, 3 runs scored), Kelly Kruse (1 hit, 3 RBI), Marilyn Oquendo (HR, 2RBI), and Devin Pope (HR).
(3/23) Cardinals split a set with Lions, hovering around the .500 mark. Mineral Area College earned a 3-0 win over Lindenwood University JV. Kayla Ruess earned another win on the hill with a complete game 3 hit shutout and helped her cause with 3 hits, a run, and an RBI.
Jessica Bartlett added 2 hits, and an RBI,
Amy Allgier had 2 hits, and an RBI. The Cards offense struggled in game 2 and only scored a single run in a 9-1 loss. Robyn Pashia took the loss, while Usher, Bartlett and Marilyn Oquendo each had two hits to pace the offense and Jordan Freese added a triple and run scored.
(3/19) Mineral Area College earns a split at Sothwestern Illinois College. The pair of games could have been considered offensive explosions, with MAC making a bang in the first game, winning 15-6. Kayla Ruess earned another win, and the offense was powered by
Kelly Kruse (2 run homer in the 2nd,)
Amy Allgier (3 hits, 3 runs and 3 RBIs,)
Marilyn Oquendo (3 hits, 2 runs,) and
Robyn Pashia (3 RBIs). The BlueStorm brought the thunder in game 2, raining down 18 runs in an 18-10 win. Kayla Ruess took the loss, while
Danielle Kaempfe (4 hits, 2 triples and 2 RBIs) and
Amy Allgier (2 hits and 2 runs) provided the offense.
(3/18) Cardinals sweep a pair with two wins over Bearcats at Farmington Sports Complex. MAC ran away with a 9-1 win over McKendree JV in 6 innings behind a strong pitching performance from Kayla Ruess. Ruess notched a complete game only allowing 1 earned run and 3 hits. The offense was provided by
Jessie Bartlett with 2 hits, a home run, and 3 RBIs;
Hannah Hummel added 2 hits, a home run and 2 RBIs, and
Marilyn Oquendo smacked 3 hits. The Cards grabbed an 8-7 win in the second game. Robyn Pachia earned the win and Kayla Ruess stepped back on the hill to earn the save. Jessie Bartlett and Danille Kaempfe each had 3 hits, while
Marilyn Oquendo and Hannah Hummel added 2 hits each.
