(10/11/11)  Cardinals release Spring schedule.  The women's softball team will open up play in the Evangel University Junior College Tournament on Friday, February 24th.  They will come home to play their home opener on Tuesday, March 6th against Dyersburg State.  Some other noteworthy games include; March 10th at home against Three Rivers and March 20th at home against Jefferson College.  Mineral Area is the three-time defending Region XVI Tournament Champions.

(9/19/11)  Dave Guemmer releases roster.  The three-time defending Region XVI softball team has announced its roster for the upcoming season.  The Cardinals return 12 members from last years 34-16 squad.  They are currently in the midst of their Fall schedule.

(8/15/11)  Meet the Cardinals scheduled for September 8th at Engler Park. 

Mineral Area College is inviting the community to come out and spend a few minutes meeting the athletes of all of our fine sports teams for the upcoming year.  Bring the kids out to meet the 2011-2012 Cardinals on Thursday evening, September 8, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Hall Pavilion in Farmington’s Engler Park.  Coaches and athletes from men’s and women’s basketball, men’s baseball, women’s softball, men’s golf, women’s volleyball, and the MAC cheerleaders will be on hand.   The coaches will be grilling up hotdogs and serving soft drinks while athletes will host a variety of activities and games for the kids to play.

Come out and enjoy the evening with the Cardinals!

Food and soft drinks will be provided while they last.

(6/10/11)  Camp dates released for summer softball camp.  The women's softball team will host a 4 day camp on June 27-30th.  The instruction will be provided by Mineral Area coaches, players and former players.  The cost is $50 or if you bring 10 or more the price is reduced to $30.  Please contact MAC assistant softball coach Matt Guemmer for more information.  Mineral Area softball is coming off its 3rd consecutive Region XVI title along with its 2nd World Series appearance in the the last 3 years.

(6/5/11)  Alex Perry named NJCAA All-American.  The women's softball team had an outstanding season and are now receiving some individual recognition.  The NJCAA has named Alex Perry a third team All-American.  Perry won 21 games for the Cardinals this year and had an impressive 1.79 ERA. 

(5/21/11)  Softball season ends in NJCAA National Tournament.  The women's softball team went 1-2 this week in the NJCAA Divsion II World Series.  MAC started the tournament losing to Owens College out of Toledo, Ohio in the first game 7-2.  MAC then rebounded with a win against Delware Tech winning 9-1.  The season ended in the next game when MAC played a familiar opponent in Kirkwood College out of Iowa.  Kirkwood defeated the Lady Cards 8-0 end MAC's hopes of a first ever National Championship.  Mineral Area concludes the season with a very impressive 37-18 record. 

(5/7/11)  Cardinals advance to NJCAA National Tournament.  The women's softball team defeated Murray State College by the scores of 3-2 and 13-2 to advance to their second National Tournament appearance in three years. 

MAC won a close one in the first game in large part due to the pitching of Alex Perry.  Perry went 7 innings allowing just 1 earned run with four strikeouts.  It was her 21st win of the year.  Jamie Bullock got the game winning hit for the Lady Cards.

The second game was dominated by MAC's offense.  They hit 5 home runs to cruise to an eleven run victory.  They are now one of 16 left in the nation and will play May 19-21st in Normal, IL.

(5/6/11)  District game with Murray State College starts at 3:00 today.  The games with Murray State that take place at the Farmington Sports Complex today have been moved back to 3:00 because of the wet weather.  The Cardinals will play two games today and will still play at 1:00 tomorrow.

(5/2/11)  Cardinals win third consecutive Region XVI Title.   The Mineral Area women's softball team continued its dominance over the rest of the Region with a clean three game sweep to clinch their their third Region XVI title in a row.

MAC won the first game over Meramec by the score of 6-3.  The final opponent for the Cardinals in the tournament was Forest Park, who MAC defeated twice (8-0 and 9-1 in the championship).  Alex Perry (Crystal City) won games 1 and 3 for the Cardinals and now has 20 wins on the season.  Emily Hanquist (Perryville) went 2 for 3 in the championship game raising her season batting average to .459.   Jennifer Hackworth (Bonne Terre, North County) came back to throw an excellent game in the 2nd game of the tournament, limiting Forest Park to two hits. 

The Cardinals now sit at an impressive 34-16 and may be having their best year in existence.  They concluded the regular season with a 20-4 record in the MCCAC and a 17-1 Region XVI regular season record.  Head Coach Dave Guemmer has now won the Region XVI title every year he has coached here. 

MAC now moves on the District J Tournament.  The District J Championship will be played on Friday (the 6th) and Saturday (the 7th) as follows against the Region 2 champion Murray State (OK) Lady Aggies at the Farmington Sports Complex. This will be a best 2 out of 3 championship and the winner moves on the NJCAA Division II National Championships in Normal, IL beginning May 19.


The District tournament will start Friday @ 1:00 & 3:00.  There will be a Saturday game at noon if necessary.

(4/25/11)  Region XVI Tournament information released. 

Here is the information for the 2011 NJCAA Region XVI Tournament:

The 2011 NJCAA Women’s Softball season is starting and the site for the Region 16 DII Tournament will be hosted by STLCC-Florissant Valley on April 29 and April 30, 2011 (May 1- Rain Date) at Florissant Area Athletic Association, 1175 Wiethaupt Rd., St. Louis, MO 63136.

Participating teams for this year will include the following:

Cottey College
East Central College
Mineral Area College
STLCC-Florissant Valley
STLCC- Forest Park
STLCC- Meramec

The Cardinals were rained out today but will try and make the game up tomorrow at St. Charles at 2:00 P.M.

Region XVI Tournament Bracket

(4/20/11)  Cardinals clinch top seed in Region XVI Tournament.  The Mineral Area women's softball team swept East Central yesterday to wrap up the #1 seed in the upcoming Region XVI Tournament which takes place in Farmington on May 29th.  The Cardinals one the first game by the score of 9-5 and won the second game 9-4. The Lady Cards are now 15-1 in Region XVI. 

They will continue their schedule up at Florissant Valley tomorrow at 1:00 in a Region XVI and MCCAC contest.

(4/15/11)  Game against East Central postponed.  Today's home softball game against East Central has been postponed and rescheduled for Tuesday, April 19th at 2:00 pm.

(4/8/11)  MAC wins two more MCCAC and Region XVI games. The softball team continues to roll right along completing a doubleheader sweep of Forest Park yesterday.  The Cardinals won 8-0 and 13-8 to improve their overall record to 21-11.  They are 15-3 in the MCCAC and 12-0 in the Region XVI.

(4/7/11)  Cardinals play against MCCAC Forest Park today.  MAC plays a doubleheader today against Forest Park up in St. Louis.  The Cardinals are looking to improve on their 13-3 in the MCCAC and 10-0 in the Region XVI. 

MAC is currently the 19th ranked team in the latest NJCAA Division II poll.

(4/4/11) # 19 Cards run win streak to six with two wins over Shawnee.  The women's softball team continued its stellar play in the MCCAC by sweeping a doubleheader over the visiting Shawnee Saints on Saturday.  MAC improves to 12-2 in the conference with the 9-4 and 2-1 home wins. 

This followed two wins on Friday against visiting Cottey College.  MAC swept Cottey 10-0 and 16-1 to improve to 10-0 in the Region XVI regular season race.

MAC (18-10) is scheduled to play Three Rivers at home tomorrow at 3:00.

(4/1/11)  Cardinals remain perfect in Region XVI.  The women's softball team

continued to dominate their Region XVI opponents with two convincing wins over Meramec.  With the doubleheader sweep the Cardinals are now 8-0 in Region XVI play.

(3/28/11)  Today's game with East Central postponed.  The softball team's scheduled doubleheader with East Central has been postponed due to the wet conditions.  The makeup game will be played on April 15th.  MAC is next scheduled to play at Jefferson on Tuesday at 2:00, and at Meramec on Thursday at 2:00.

(3/25/11)  Cardinals weekend games canceled.  The MAC softball team was schedule to play against Shawnee and Cottey today and tomorrow.  Both of these games have been postponed due to the weather.

(3/23/11) MAC wins two more conference games over Forest Park.  The Lady Cardinals improved to 8-0 in the MCCAC and 6-0 in the Region XVI yesterday with two home victories over Forest Park.  Mineral Area won both games by the mercy rule, winning game 1 by the score of 11-1 in 5 innings and game 2, 12-4 in 6 innings. 

Alex Perry and Jennifer Hackworth won both games on the mound for MAC.  The Cardinals got offensive contributions from a variety of players including Emily Hanquist (Perryville)-2 hits, double, home run, 2 RBI's, 3 runs in game one and Kelly Kelm (Poplar Bluff) a game ending 3 run home run in game two.

The Cardinals (11-7) play at home today against Lindenwood JV at 2:00.

(3/22/11)  Lady Cardinals take two from Maple Woods.  MAC took two from Maple Woods winning 10-5 and 7-2 on Tuesday.  Alex Perry and Jennifer Hackworth were the winning pitchers for the Cardinals.

The Lady Cardinals are at home at the Farmington Sports Complex on Tuesday in a key Region16 AND MCCAC battle against Forest Park at 2:00.  Then, the Cards are back at home against Lindenwood at 2:00 on Wednesday.  Then, they host MCCAC opponent Shawnee on Friday at 3:00.

(3/11/11)  Cardinals take two from Florissant Valley.  MAC won two conference games yesterday over Florissant Valley by the scores of 12-1 and 8-0.  Alex Perry and Jennifer Hackworth were the winning pitchers.

The Cardinals are 6-0 in the MCCAC conference race and 4-0 in Region XVI.  

MAC now plays Dyersburg State out of Tennessee at home at 1:00 on Saturday.

(3/10/11) Softball game moved Potosi.  The MAC softball team will play a home game today against MCCAC rival Florissant Valley at the Potosi fields

(3/4/11)  Cardinals improve to 4-0 in MCCAC conference race.  The women's softball team traveled to Ulin, Illinois and won two conference games over new member Shawnee on Thursday.  MAC got great pitching in both games.  MAC ace Alex Perry went 7 innings allowing only 4 hits and 0 earned runs in the first game helping the Cardinals to a 3-1 victory. 

In game 2 Jennifer Hackworth was the pitching star for the Cardinals going 6 strong innings allowing 0 earned runs on 3 hits in the 4-2 victory.  Offensive standouts on the day were:

MAC (4-2) has a home MCCAC and Region XVI doubleheader scheduled for Thursday against Florissant Valley at 2:00 P.M.

(3/3/11) Mineral Area takes two from MCCAC rival Meramec.  The women's softball team got two very important victories yesterday over Meramec. 

MAC won the first game by the score of 9-3 behind a strong pitching performance from Alex Perry.  She went 7 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits and 3 walks, with 3 strikeouts.  NJCAA Region XVI 1st teamer Tori Henson led the offensive attack with 3 hits and 4 RBI's. 

In game two the Cardinals won 13-5 in 5 innings via the mercy rule thanks in large part to the solid pitching of Jennifer Hackworth.  She went the distance, allowing 3 earned runs, on 7 hits, walking only 1 with 3 strikeouts.  Alex Perry chipped in offensively for MAC in game game two with 3 hits, 4 RBI's and 2 runs scored.

MAC is back in today against Shawnee College in Ulin, Illinois at 3:00 P.M.

(3/1/11)  Women's softball season officially underway.  The MAC lady softball team lost two games to Lindenwood University JV yesterday by the scores of 1-0 and 6-2.  Alex Perry got her season off to a good start allowing one run on 2 hits and 3 walks, striking out 2 in the first game. In the second game Jennifer Hackworth allowed 5 earned runs on 8 hits and 3 walks, striking out 2

In the second game Allyson Luce and Kelly Kelm each had a hit and scored a run. Tori Henson had a double with 2 rbis and Tory Smith had a double.

The softball game against Meramec that was to be played today has been moved to tomorrow (3/2/11) at Potosi High School Fields at 3:00. To get to the fields, take HIghway 8 through Potosi and make a right on 185. The complex is on the right.

(2/15/11)  Women's softball team begins play on February 28th.  The MAC women's softball team will officially begin their season on Monday the 28th against Lindwenwood JV at 2:00 in St. Charles. 

(1/31/11)  Women's team ranked in the top 20 to start season. Softball season is right around the corner and the Cardinals have already received some national recognition.  The MAC women's softball team starts the season ranked 20th in the nation according the NJCAA Division II Pre-Season Poll.  The Cardinals are coming off another Region XVI Championship, their second in two seasons.

(1/6/11)  Head Coach Dave Guemmer releases 2011 Spring Roster.  The women's softball team released its roster for the 2011 season.  Mineral Area is the two time defending Region XVI Champions.  They return some of their key compenents from last years team including MCCAC All-Conference 1st teamer Alex Perry a pitcher from Crystal City, MO.  Tori Henson a 1st baseman from Bismarck, Missouri is returning after receiving MCCAC All-Conference honorable mention honors last season.

Jennifer Hackworth a pitcher from Bonne Terre, MO and North County High School was a NJCAA Region XVI All-Region honorable mention pick last year.  Perry and Henson were a part of the 1st Team All Region squad last season. 

Mineral Area will open up its season on February 28th against Lindenwood. 

 

(1/3/11)  Head Coach Dave Guemmer releases softball schedule.  The Mineral Area College softball team has released its Spring 2011 schedule to the public. The back-to-back Region XVI Champions open up on the road against Lindenwood JV on February 28th.  The Cardinals will play their first home game in an MCCAC conference tilt against Meramec on March 1st at the Farmington Sports Complex.  The Cardinals will participate in the Daffodil Classic on April 16th and 17th.  They play against traditional power Kirkwood, Iowa on April 9th and 10th at Kirkwood.

(10/18/10)  Chad Mills hired as new Athletic Director.  Mineral Area has named former MAC basketball player and assistant coach Chad Mills as the new Athletic Director effective July 1, 2011.

(10/11/10) Cardinal softball concludes for the fall season.  MAC softball went 1-1-1 over the weekend playing 3 NJCAA Division 1 schools, defeating Dyerburg St, tying SW Tennessee, and losing to Three Rivers. This completes the softball fall schedule.
