Coach Koch's 2008 Summer Instructional Basketball Camp. The Camp is scheduled for June 17-20 (Tue-Fri) at Mineral Area College. The Camp is for boys & girls and will concentrate on shooting, ball handling, passing, footwork, and strategy. There are three sessions: 9:00am-11:00am for 5th & 6th grades ($35), 11:30am-1:30pm for 7th & 8th grades ($45), and 2:00pm-4:00pm for 9th -12th graders ($45) Information and Questions, please call (573) 518-2259. (4/19) Lesley Adams signs National Letter of Intent to attend DI Southeast Missouri State University. The 6-2 power forward/center averaged 8.8 points per game, 1.2 steals per game and led the team in rebounding with 7.4 per game. She started in every game for the Cardinals over the past two seasons, earning 2007-08 First Team All Region XVI honors. Adams recorded five double-doubles in 2007-08 season including a 20 point 15 rebound game against Olney Central College. She scored a career-high 21 points on 8-15 shooting from the field and a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe while collecting 10 caroms against State Fair Community College. During her freshman season she averaged 7.4 ppg and a team-high 7.9 rpg. Adams played her prep ball at Career Academy in St. Louis. Press Release
(3/9) NJCAA All Region XVI selections include three Cardinals: Adams, Sands, and Fraser-Jones. Last month, three Cardinals were selected to the All-Conference team. The same three MAC players were selected by the Region Coaches for honors. Leandra Sands, a 5'5" guard, was named to the First Team. She averaged 9.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assist a game. Lesley Adams was also named to the All-Region XVI team. The 6'2" power forward/center led the team in rebounding at 7.4 a game, and averaged 8.8 points and 1.2 steals per game. Sarah Fraser-Jones earned All-Region honorable mention honors this season. Sarah averaged 6.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists per game.
(3/7) Mineral Area and Three Rivers split their regular-season series and tied for a third-place finish in the Region XVI standings. A coin-flip was the last tie breaker for the right to host the game, with Three Rivers gaining home coaurt advantage. The Raiders took the advantage and ran with it. TRCC led 35-28 at the half, and pulled away for a 70-53 Region XVI Tournament win. Caitlin Shadbolt led the way with 10 & 5, Leandra Sands added 8 & 4 assists, and Laurie Bell chipped in 8. Box Score
(2/28) Three MAC Cardinals honored by MCCAC Conference Coaches. Leandra Sands was named to the First Team MCCAC All-Conference list this season. Sands, a 5'5" sophomore guard put up 9.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assist a game. Sarah Fraser-Jones earned second-team honors during her sophomore campaign. The Eastern Kentucky signee averaged 6.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists per contest. Lesley Adams was also named to the All-Conference second-team this season. The 6'2" post led the team in rebounding at 7.4 a game, and scored 8.8 and swiped 1.2 steals per game.
(3/1) Mineral Area finished regular season on a 5 game winning streak with 73-70 win over Crowder in Neosho. The Cardinals took a four point lead into the locker room at the half, and hung on for an impressive Region XVI road win that helped the Birds climb into a 3rd place tie in the Region standings. Leandra Sands led the way with 16 points and LaShayla Bell added a double-double with 14 & 10. Cobi Wires chipped in 13 & 5 assists, and Briley Milfeld added 11 & 3 asists. Box Score
(2/24) Cards continue late season surge with impressive 70-57 win in Sedalia. Mineral Area led 33-29 at the half and outscored the Lady Roadrunners by 9 in the second half to earn the win over Nationally-ranked State Fair CC. Lesley Adams had a career game with 21 points & 7 rebounds, while Leandra Sands added 12, and Sarah Fraser-Jones chipped in 10 in the Region XVI victory. Box Score
(2/21) Mineral Area extends Conference hot streak to three with 68-47 victory in St. Louis. The Cards grabbed a 36-15 first half lead over the host Highlanders from Forest Park CC in part to another strong effort from Leandra Sands (23 points & 3 assists). Lesley Adams added 10 points & 7 rebounds, while Caitlin Shadbolt chipped in 8 in the win. Box Score
(2/17) Cards grab second MCCAC Conference win in a row and notch another Region XVI win in 63-44 drumming of Three Rivers at Homecoming. Mineral Area jumped out to a 30-17 halftime lead and never looked back cruising to a win in front of a packed house at the Sechrest Fieldhouse. Leandra Sands continued scorching the nets with 19, while LaShayla Bell added 9 points & 6 rebounds. Box Score
(2/14) Mineral Area grabs MCCAC Conference win with 64-29 route over visiting Florissant Valley CC. The Cardinals grabbed a 43-12 half-time lead and never looked back cruising to the Conference win. Leandra Sands was the high scorer with 15, Laurie Bell added 12, and Cobi Wires chipped in 9 points & 9 assists. (12/9) Gary Koch earns 100th win as college head coach with Cards 53-51 win over Olney Central (Olney, IL) in St. Francois County Rotary Shootout. Mineral Area led 27-24 at the half and held on for a two point victory over the Lady Blue Knights. Leandra Sands and Lesley Adams led the way with 10 points each. (12/1) Sarah Fraser-Jones has signed a National Letter of Intent to play DI basketball at Eastern Kentucky University. Head Coach Joe Inman announces that Fraser-Jones, a 5-foot-9 guard/forward from Melbourne, Australia, has inked at EKU in the Ohio Valley Conference. She averaged 8.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while earning first team all-conference and second team all-region recognition last season while shooting 53% from the field and 71% from three-point range.
"Sarah is a tremendous early signing for us," Inman said. "She's very smart and a great student. On the court she's a great scorer but she's also very good at getting others involved. She'll be a great fit to the chemistry of our team." Press Release
(11/4) Mineral Area wins season opener 71-66 over John A. Logan (Carterville, IL). The Cards grabbed a 34-33 first half lead over the host school in the John A. Logan Classic. MAC was led by Caitlin Shadbolt with 21 points and 6 rebounds, Sarah Fraser-Jones with 18 points & 11 rebounds, and Briley Milfeld with 11 points & 4 assists. Game Box
