(5/3/17)  Lady Cards sign two for 2017-18 season.  MAC signs Mary Katherine Tucker (above)from Westview High School in Martin, Tennessee and Tyeshia Mitchell (below) from Sikeston, MO.  The Lady Cards are coming off their second Region 16 Title in the past three seasons.

(4/21/17)  Hayley Winter and Alexia Perry sign with 4-year schools.  Two MAC sophomores have signed their national letter of intent's to play next season.  Hayley Winter will play at Sienna College and Alexia Perry will play at Central Baptist College.  Mineral Area is coming of another Region 16 title; their second title in three years.

(4/17/17)  Hayley Winter receives national honors. Congratulations to MAC sophomore Hayley Winter on being named an NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American.

 

(3/28/17) Lady Cards sign Lainey Bell from Lewis County.  The Mineral Area women's basketball team has announced the signing of Lainey Bell, a 5' 8" senior from Lewis County High School in Hohenwald, Tennessee.

(3/20/17) Hayley Winter earns post-season honors.  Haley Winter, a sophomore from Perth, Australia was named 1st Team All-MCCAC and 1st Team All-Region this past week. 

(3/6/17)  Lady Cards win Region 16 Championship.  The MAC women’s basketball team traveled to Moberly Area CC to take on the Lady Greyhounds in a Region 16 tournament quarterfinal game on Tuesday, February 28th.   The Lady Cardinals were able to defeat Moberly by a score of 70-65.  The Lady Cardinals then traveled to Jefferson City, MO for a semi-final game and defeating top seeded Three Rivers CC by a score of 72-62 on Friday, March 10th.  Friday’s win set up a championship matchup on Saturday, March 4th against Crowder College.  MAC defeated Crowder on Saturday by a score of 65-51, securing the Region 16 Championship.  The MAC women’s basketball team now has a record of 16-15 overall and will advance to the district championship. 

 

The MAC women’s basketball team will host Iowa Western CC for the District K Championship on Friday, March 10th at 6:00pm.  The winner of Friday’s matchup will advance to the NJCAA National Tournament in Lubbock, TX.

(3/1/17) Lady Cards advance to semifinals of Region 16 Tournament.  The women defeated Moberly last night by the score of 70-65.  They will now play against Three Rivers on Friday at 1:00 pm in Jefferson City.

(2/27/17) MAC plays Moberly in 1st round of Region 16 Tournament.  The MAC women’s basketball team played host to Arkansas Baptist College on Monday, February 20th.  The Lady Cardinals came away with a 61-52 victory against Arkansas Baptist.  The Lady Cardinals also hosted State Fair CC on Saturday, February 25th as part of MAC’s 2017 Homecoming.  The Lady Roadrunners of State Fair CC defeated the Lady Cardinals 79-68.  The MAC women’s basketball team finishes the regular season at 13-15 overall, 3-7 in Region 16 and 4-5 in MCCAC play.

They will travel to Moberly, MO to take on Moberly Area CC on Tuesday, February 28th at 7:00pm.  The Lady Cardinals need a victory against Moberly to advance to the Region 16 Tournament in Jefferson City, MO that will take place March 3rd and 4th.  For complete coverage of the Region 16 Basketball Tournament, including brackets, please visit: http://www.region16sports.org/

(2/21/17) Shelby Moon named Region 16 Player of the Week.  Moon, a 5'5" Freshman Guard for the Lady Cardinals, only had one game last week, but she made the most of it.  Shelby, from Neelyville, MO, had a breakout game netting a career high 25 points in MAC's 73-53 home win over Three Rivers College, the team who's been sitting on top of the Region standings since the beginning of Region play. Shelby hit 9 of her 16 FG attempts (56.3%), which includes a blistering 7 for 11 (63.6%) from outside the arc. Several of her 3's came at crucial times to help her team regain control when it appeared TRC was gaining some momentum. Shelby also corralled 6 rebounds and dished out 5 assists in 29 minutes of court time.

(2/21/17)  Lady Cards defeat rival Three Rivers in home contest. The MAC women’s basketball team played host to river Three Rivers CC on Saturday, February 18th.  The Lady Cardinals came away with a 73-53 victory over the Lady Raiders.  The Lady Cardinals are now 12-14 overall, 3-6 in Region 16 and 4-4 in MCCAC play.

They will host Arkansas Baptist College on Monday, February 20th at 5:00pm.  The Lady Cardinals will also host State Fair CC on Saturday, February 25th at 5:00pm.  The game against State Fair on Saturday is also part of MAC’s 2017 Homecoming and Sophomore Night for the Lady Cardinals.

(2/14/17)  Hayley Winter named Region 16 Player of the Week.  Hayley Winter was named Player of the Week - Region 16 for the week of 2/6 to 2/12.


She was selected by a vote of the Region 16 Women's basketball Head Coaches.

The Mineral Area College Lady Cardinals might be struggling, but Sophomore PG Hayley Winter continues to be the leader for the Lady Cardinals, giving her team a chance to win every night. According to her coaches, Haley's leadership and durability (in logging the minutes she does each night) are invaluable. Her Lady Cards had two games last week, both on foreign courts. In the against Jefferson College, an 80-77 win, Hayley pumped in 19 points on 38.4% shooting (5-13; 2 of 6 on threes), had 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 6 TO's. Versus Crowder, Winter tallied 17 points, 4 boards, 7 assists, 1 steal and committed 4 TO's. She was 6-11 (65%) from the field, 2-5 from three (40%), in the 81-76 loss. For the week she averaged 17 ppg, 6 rpg, 6 apg, 2 spg with 5 tpg while shooting 46% on FG's (11-24), 4-11 on 3pt attempts (36%) and 10-13 on FT's (77%). Hayley becomes the second Two-Time Player of the Week winner on the season, receiving the award back in Week 5 (November 28-December 4). Hayley ranks in the top ten in six of the nine statistical categories in the Region (ppg, 3pt%, FT%, rebs, ast, and stl) and currently ranks 4th nationally in Division I in Assists, averaging 6.3 per game.

(2/13/17)  Mineral Area defeats Jefferson in Region 16 contest. The MAC women’s basketball team traveled to rival Jefferson College on Wednesday, February 8th.  The Lady Cardinals came away with an 80-77 victory against the Lady Vikings.  The MAC women’s basketball team then traveled to Crowder College on Saturday, February 11th.  The Lady Cardinals fell to the Roughriders by a score of 81-76.  The Lady Cardinals are now 11-14 overall, 2-6 in Region 16 and 3-4 in MCCAC play.

(2/6/17)  Lady Cards fall to Moberly. The women’s basketball team traveled to Moberly, MO to take on Moberly Area CC on Saturday, February 4th.  The Lady Cardinals fell to the Lady Greyhounds by a score of 68-59.  The Lady Cardinals are now 10-13 overall, 1-5 in Region 16 and 2-4 in MCCAC play.

(1/26/2017)  MAC gets win against St. Louis Community College.  The Lady Cards defeated the St. Louis Community College Archers by the score of 74-61. Mineral Area went on a 20-0 run to pull away in the second half.  MAC is now 10-10 overall and will play on the road, against State Fair, at 5:30 pm in Sedalia, MO.

(1/12/17) Crowder game rescheduled.  Due to the incoming weather, the home women's basketball game scheduled for Saturday, January 14th against Crowder College has been rescheduled for Monday,  January 16th at 3:30pm. 


The Neelyville vs. Dixon high school girls basketball game that was scheduled to be played at Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse at 11:00am on Saturday(1/14/17) has also been canceled.  No make up date has been scheduled for the Neelyville/Dixon game at this time.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

(1/9/17)  Cardinals fall to Three Rivers in Region 16 play. The MAC women’s basketball team traveled to Poplar Bluff, MO to open region/conference play on Saturday, January 7th.  The Lady Cardinals fell to the Lady Raiders by a score of 78-44.   The MAC women’s basketball is now 8-7 overall and 0-1 in MCCAC and Region 16 play.

The MAC women’s basketball team will travel to Carterville, IL to take on John A. Logan College on Wednesday, January 11th at 5:00pm. On Saturday, January 14th, the Lady Cardinals will host Crowder College at 2:00pm.

(12/6/16)  Hayley Winter named Region 16 Player of the Week.  The Lady Cardinals only had one game last week, a 77-47 home win over Dyersburg State CC (TN). But Hayley Winter made the most of it. Winter, a sophomore PG, led her team in points, minutes, rebounds, assists and steals. In the process, Hayley posted a rare triple-double for a point guard. She tallied 19 points in 37 minutes, to go along with 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals. For the game, Winter shot 72.3% from the field (on 8 of 11), going a perfect 3 for 3 from behind the arc. On the season, Hayley is averaging 14.8 ppg, 8 rpg, and 7.6 apg. 

(12/6/16)  Madison Reynolds signs with MAC.  Madison Reynolds, a senior three sport student-athlete at SGHS, signed with Mineral Area College today to play Women's Basketball.  Madison is the daughter of Jamie and Ann Reynolds.

(12/6/16) Mineral Area now 5-3 overall after win vs. Dyersburg State. The MAC women’s basketball team played host to Dyersburg State CC on Friday, December 2nd.  The Lady Cardinals came away with a 77-47 victory.  The women’s basketball team is now 5-3 on the season. 

The MAC women’s basketball team will host Lincoln Trail College at 5:00pm on Wednesday, December 7th.  They will then travel to Neosho, MO to participate in the Crowder Roughrider Classic on Friday, December 9th and Saturday, December 10th.  On Friday, the Lady Cardinals will take on Arkansas State – Mid South at 5:00pm and on Saturday, they will play Northeast Oklahoma A&M College at 1:00pm.

 

(11/28/16)  Lady Cards defeat Malcolm X. The MAC women’s basketball team traveled to Chicago, IL to take on Malcolm X on Saturday, November 26th.  The Lady Cardinals came away with a 76-56 victory.  The women’s basketball team is now 4-3 on the season. 

(11/21/16)  Cardinals now 3-3 on the season.  The MAC women’s basketball team hosted Rend Lake College on Saturday, November 19th.  The Lady Cardinals defeated Rend Lake by a score of 72-52.  The Lady Cardinals now have a record of 3-3.

The MAC women’s basketball team will travel to Chicago, IL to take on Malcolm X College on Saturday, November 26th at 2pm.

(11/14/16)  Lady Cards go 1-1 in Moberly Classic.  The MAC women’s basketball team traveled to Moberly, MO to participate in the Moberly Lady Greyhound Classic on Saturday, November 12th and Sunday, November 13th.  On Saturday, the Lady Cardinals fell to John Wood CC 68-71.  On Sunday, they were able to defeat Rend Lake College by a score of 87-62.  The Lady Cardinals now have a record of 2-3.

The MAC women’s basketball team will host Rend Lake College on Saturday, November 19th.  Tip-off for Saturday’s game is set for 1:00pm.

(11/7/16)  Cardinals go 0-2 over the weekend.  The MAC women’s basketball team hosted Olney Central College on Saturday, November 5th and Southeastern Illinois College on Sunday, November 6th as part of the Holiday Inn Fall Classic.  On Saturday, the Lady Cardinals fell to Olney by a score of 63-65 and on Sunday, they fell to Southeastern by a score of 73-75.  The Lady Cardinals start the season with a 1-2 record.

They will travel to Moberly, MO to participate in the Moberly Lady Greyhound Classic on Saturday, November 12th and Sunday, November 13th.  On Saturday, the Lady Cardinals will take on John Wood CC at 5:30pm.  On Friday, they will take on Rend Lake College at 1:00pm.  For more details about the classic, please click here.

(11/3/16)  Lady Cards win home opener.  The ladies defeated John A. Logan on Tuesday night by the score of 73-69.  MAC was lead by Hayley Winter who had 23 points and 15 rebounds.  MAC plays this weekend in the Holiday Inn Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday at the Bob Sechrest Field House.

(10/31/16)  Regular season starts tomorrow.  The MAC women’s basketball team will open up their regular season this week.  On Tuesday, November 1st, they will host John A. Logan College at 5:00pm.  They will then host their annual Holiday Inn Fall Classic on Saturday, November 5th and Sunday, November 6th.  On Saturday, the Lady Cardinals will take on Olney Central College at 3:00pm and on Sunday, they will take on Southeastern Illinois College at 3:00pm.  The Lady Cardinals finished the 2015-2016 season with a record of 23-6.  For the complete Holiday Inn Fall Classic schedule, please click here.

(4/20/16)  MAC signs Olivia Casey from Central High School  Mineral Area has signed local product Olivia Casey from Park Hills.  Casey had a standout high school career helping Central to the class 3A state title.  Olivia scored a total 1,279 points while playing for the Rebels.

(4/20/16)  Kourtney Kekec signs with Texas-San Antonio.  MAC freshman Kourtney Kekec has decided to continue her career at the University of Texas-San Antonio next season.  Kourtney was a starting forward for Mineral Area this year.  MAC went 23-6 and finished as Region 16 runner-up as well as MCCAC conference champions.

(4/20/16)  Allie Golden signs with MAC.  Potosi's all time leading scorer has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Mineral Area College next season.  Seated with Golden are family members grandmother Ruth Glore, niece Blair Clifton, and parents Karen and Tim Golden. (4/8/16)  Janekia Mason named All-American.  MAC sophomore Janekia Mason has been named 1st-Team All-American for the 2015-2016 basketball season. Janekia averaged 19.5 points per game along with 10.1 rebounds.  She helped lead the Lady Cards to a 23-6 record.

 

(3/1/16)  Mineral Area College Women’s Basketball Team Finishes the Season 23-6 and Ranked #21 in the Final NJCAA National Poll.  The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team traveled to Joplin, MO to compete in the Region 16 tournament on Thursday, February 25th.  The Lady Cards defeated Crowder in the semi-finals by the score of 75-65.  MAC then played State Fair in the championship game.  The Lady Cards fell to the Lady Road Runners in overtime, losing by the score of 88-86.  The MAC Lady Cardinals finished their season with a record of 23-6 and ranked 21st in the final NJCAA national poll.

Gary Koch was named Region 16 Coach of the Year

(2/26/16)  Women advance to Region 16 championship game.  The MAC Lady Cards defeated Crowder yesterday in the semifinals of the Region 16 tournament held in Joplin, MO.  With the win, Mineral Area will play State Fair for the championship on Saturday. 

MAC is the #1 seed and has an overall record of 23-5.

(2/22/16) Mineral Area College Women’s Basketball Team is Now 22-5 and are Ranked #24 in the Latest NJCAA National Poll. The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team hosted Washington University JV on Tuesday, February 16th.  The Lady Cards won the game by the score of 67-49.  MAC then traveled to Sedalia to take on State Fair.  Mineral Area defeated State Fair by the score of 72-63.  The MAC Lady Cards now have a record of 22-5 on the season and are ranked #24 in the latest NJCAA national poll.

They will participate in the Region 16 tournament in Joplin, MO on Thursday, February 25th.  The Lady Cards are the #1 seed in the tournament.  MAC will play the winner of Crowder and Jefferson College at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Ozark Christian College in Joplin.

(2/16/16)  MAC defeats Three Rivers in Region 16 contest.  The Lady Cards traveled to Poplar Bluff on Saturday and defeated the Raiders by the score of 70-55.  With the win, Mineral Area has clinched a first round bye for the upcoming Region 16 Tournament. 

With the win, MAC clinches at least at tie of the MCCAC conference title.  They can win it outright with a win over State Fair on Saturday.  The Lady Cards are 20-5 overall with an 8-1 record in the Region.

(2/4/16)  Lady Cards cruise to home win over Jefferson College.  Mineral Area defeated the Jefferson College Vikings last night by the score of 80-55.  MAC improves to 17-5 overall and 6-1 in the Region 16.  MAC will play Crowder on Saturday, at home, at 2:00.

(1/28/16)  Hayley Winter named NJCAA Player of the Week.  MAC freshman Hayley Winter was named NJCAA Player of the Week for the week of January 18th through January 24th.  Hayley had 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists against #19 State Fair on January 23rd helping MAC earn a victory.  

The Lady Cards lost a close game last night to Illinois Central by the score of 60-58.  Illinois Central was ranked 2nd in the latest NJCAA Division II National Poll.

(1/25/16)  Mineral Area College Women’s Basketball Team is Now 15-4 and Are Receiving Votes in the Latest NJCAA National Poll.  The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team hosted State on Saturday, January 23rd for Homecoming. The Lady Cardinals defeated the nationally ranked Lady Roadrunners 67-60. The MAC Lady Cards now have a record of 15-4 on the season and are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA national poll.

(1/14/16)  Lady Cards defeat Jefferson College in big road win.  The MAC Lady Cards grabbed an important win last night, defeating the Jefferson College Vikings by the score of 75-73.  Mineral Area was down late, but went on a 14-0 run to earn the win. MAC is now 14-3 overall and 3-0 in Region 16 play.  They next play at Moberly, at 6:00, on Saturday, January 16th.

(1/7/16)  Homecoming is January 23rd. Homecoming is January 23rd at MAC.  The Lady Cardinals will take on State Fair on Saturday, at 5:00 and the men will play at 7:00 as a part of the college's annual Homecoming.

(1/6/16) Lady Cards defeat Kennedy King.  The women's basketball team defeated Kennedy King at home last night by the score of 103-72.  They have now won 10 in a row.  They play at Crowder on Saturday in a Region 16 contest.  MAC is now 12-3 on the season.

(12/3/15)  Janekia Mason has been named NJCAA Player of the Week for the second time.

Cardinals sophomore Janekia Mason won NJCAA Player of the week for the week of November 23rd - 29th. During this stretch she averaged 21.5 points per game as well as 11.5 rebounds per game. This is the second time this season she has received this honor.

The Lady Cards won another game last night defeating Dyersburg State 83-55.  Mineral Area is now 6-3 on the season.

(11/30/15) Lady Cards get two wins in Chicago. The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team traveled to Chicago, IL over the weekend to take on both Kennedy-King and Malcolm X.  The Lady Cards defeated Kennedy-King 93-71 on Friday afternoon.  MAC also beat Malcolm X on Saturday, winning by the score of 67-46.  The MAC Lady Cardinals now have a record of 5-3 on the season.

The MAC women’s basketball team will travel to Dyersburg, TN on Wednesday, December 2nd to take on Dyersburg State.  Game time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

(11/16/15)  Lady Cards travel to Iowa to participate in Iowa Western Classic. 

The Mineral Area College women’s basketball team traveled to Council Bluffs, Iowa to participate in the Iowa Western Classic over the weekend.  MAC lost to the defending NJCAA D2 National Champion, Johnson County, by the score of 84-71 on Friday.  The Lady Cards then lost to Iowa Western on Saturday by the score of 75-61.  The MAC Lady Cardinals now have a record of 2-2 on the season.

(11/12/15)  Janekia Mason named NJCAA Player of the Week.  Janekia Mason, a sophomore from Covington, Tennessee, was named NJCAA Player of the Week for the week of November 2nd-8th.  Janekia averaged 25.5 ppg and 10.5 rebounds per game during this stretch. 

(11/4/15) MAC opens season with road win over Southeastern Illinois.  The MAC women traveled to Harrisburg, Illinois last night and defeated the Southeastern Illinois Falcons by the score of 85-68.  Janekia Mason lead all scorers with 21 points and 13 rebounds. 

Freshman Hayley Winter scored 19 points with 15 of those coming in the first half. 

The Lady Cards will now play Olney on Saturday in Olney, Illinois.

(11/2/15)  Lady Cards kick off their season this week.  The defending Region 16 Champion Mineral Area women's basketball team will start their 2015-16 season this week. 

The MAC women’s basketball team will travel to Harrisburg, IL on Tuesday, November 3rd to take on Southeastern Illinois.  Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.  MAC will then visit Olney Central in Olney, IL on Saturday, November 7th.  Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

(9/28/15) Midnight Madness- Tuesday, October 13th at the Bob Sechrest Field House. There will be tailgating with free hot dogs and soda in front of the Bob Sechrest Field House for the MAC student-athletes and the entire community.  The tailgate starts at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13th.  The MAC volleyball game against MSU-West Plains will begin at 6:30 p.m.  Midnight Madness will follow the volleyball game.  This will be the first look at the women’s and men’s basketball teams.  There will be a 3 point shootout as well as a slam dunk competition.  Pizza will also be provided.  Someone will get a chance to win free tuition hours for the spring semester.  We will also have our 2nd hour Courtside Couch drawing for Homecoming.
