(9/8/14) Cardinals start fall schedule.  The MAC golf team traveled to Rend Lake, Illinois this past weekend to participate in the Rend Lake Fall Preview.  The following is a list of the scores from over the weekend:

(8/14/14)  MAC receives academic honor.  Farmers Insurance and the Golf Coaches Association of America announced today that Mineral Area College was recognized as All Academic team. Two NJCAA DII teams received this honor, Mineral Area and national champion Walters State.

(7/15/14)  McKinney qualifies for U.S. Amateur.  Tanner McKinney finished in second place in the Missouri U.S. Qualifer to earn an invitation to the U.S. Amateur Championship. The U.S. Amateur Championship will take place at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Georgia on August 11th-August 18th. 

McKinney needed to finish in the top 2 of 70 participants to earn the invite.  He was able to win a 4-way playoff to clinch the last spot.  Tanner shot 68-74 for a two-day score of 142 at Jefferson City Country Club.

The U.S. Amateur will be televised on August 13th-15th on the Golf Channel.  The final two days of the event will be televised on NBC.  For a full listing of the time and dates it will be televised click here. 

The U.S. Amateur is the most prestigious event in all of amateur golf.  Some of the past winners include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, and Bobby Jones.

(5/26/14)  Cardinals finish 12th in NJCAA National Tournament.  The Mineral Area Cardinals golf team finished in 12th place at the NJCAA National Tournament in Plymouth, Indiana.  Also, a special congratulations to Tanner McKinney on finishing the tournament with a second place finish.  Tanner tied for second place out of 128 participants.  By finishing in the top 8 at Nationals, Tanner will be placed on the NJCAA 1st Team All-American team!  Congrats on the outstanding achievement!  By finishing in the top 18, Tanner also receives All-Tournament team honors, and will receive a flag for the tournament.

(5/23/14) National Tournament update. 

Here are the results of Round 3 of the NJCAA Division 2 National Golf Tournament:  The MAC Cards are in 10th place and Tanner McKinney is in 1st place overall, 2 strokes ahead of the #2 ranked golfer.  Here are the scores for today for the Cardinals:

(5/1/14)  Mineral Area to participate in National Tournament.  The 23rd ranked Mineral Area Men's golf team will travel to Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana on May 20th-23rd to participate in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. The Cardinals have been steadily improving throughout the season and are hoping to take that momentum with them to Indiana.  Below is a picture of the members of the team that will be participating.


(4/30/14)  Mineral Area finishes 3rd in Rend Lake Tournament.  The 23rd ranked golf team traveled to Mt. Vernon Illinois and placed 3rd in the Rend Lake Tournament.

The Cardinals tied John  A. Logan with a 300 for the day to give them a two-day total of 613. John A. Logan placed first with 608, and Rend Lake was second at 611.

Tanner McKinney shot 71-71 (142) to place first for medalist honors.

Kellen Bader shot 82 and 75 for a two-day total of 157. Jesse Schott finished at 154 after a round of 76, and Matt Gordon shot a 78 to record a 160.

(4/21/14)  MAC finishes 5th in Blue Boy Invitational.  The men's golf team went to Piper Glen Golf Course in Springfield, Illinois and finished 5th in the Blue Boy Invitational.  MAC is currently the 23rd ranked team in the latest NJCAA Poll.

(4/15/14) Mineral Area College Golf Team is Currently Ranked #23 in the Nation. The MAC golf team will travel to Springfield, IL on Friday, April 18th and 19th to participate in the Illinois College Tournament at Piper Glen.  The MAC Cardinal Golf team is currently ranked #23 in the nation.


(4/2/14)  MAC finishes 5th in William Woods Invitational.  The Cardinals participated against many 4-year universities and had a good showing this past weekend.  Mineral Area finished with a 2-day score of 647 despite some rough weather.  Tanner McKinney shot 79-70 (149)to lead MAC.  Other scores were

Julian Taylor from William Woods University won individual honors with an 8 under

(3/24/14)  Cardinals finish 9th in Ron Marshall Spring Fling.  MAC had a strong showing over the weekend in the Ron Marshall Spring Fling Golf Tournament.  Many of the top NJCAA teams participated in the event.  Some of the highlights for the Cardinals were Tanner McKinney shooting 76,69,71 finishing 3rd in the tournament.  The Cardinals are currently the 23rd ranked team in the latest NJCAA Division II poll.

(3/20/14)  MAC participating in Ron Marshall Spring Fling Golf Tournament.  The MAC Cardinals golfers are down in Scottsboro, Alabama for the Ron Marshall Spring Fling Golf Tournament at Goose Pond Colony Golf Club.  After the first day MAC has shot 321.  Jesse Schott lead with a 75.  Tanner McKinney shot 76 followed by Kellen Bader at 83, Eric McCoy 87, and Eric Bennett 91.

(10/15/13)  Cardinals finish 3rd in Lewis and Clark Tournament.  The Mineral Area College golf team wrapped up their  2013 Fall season on October 14 with a 3rd place finish in the Lewis and Clark tournament at Belk Park GC. MAC scores were:  Tanner McKinney with 74-74 148 placing 2nd individually, Jesse Schott 164, Eric McCoy 165, Kellen Bader 168 and Matt Gordon 169.

(9/30/13) MAC finishes in 8th in John A. Logan Tournament. The Mineral Area College golf team recently participated in the John A. Logan tournament.  The tournament was stacked with 4 top 25 teams and the Cardinals finished in 8th place.  Tanner McKinney scored a 163, Eric McCoy a 168, Jesse Schott a 171, Eric Bennett a 173, and Kellen Bader a 184. 



(9/16/13)  Cardinals participate in Maryville Invitational.  The MAC men's golfers competed in the Maryville Tournament at the Quarry Golf Club in Crystal Springs on September 9th and 10th.  MAC finished 4th out of 5 teams.  High scores for the Cardinals were Tanner McKinney with a 149, Eric McCoy with a 158, and Jesse Schott with a 160.  Tanner McKinney finished 4th place overall and made the All-Tournament team. 



(9/9/13)  Golf participating in Fall season.  The Golf team is in the middle of their fall season in preparation for their Spring schedule.  Today and tomorrow they are playing in the Maryville Invitational at Crystal Spring Quarry Golf Course.

Last week they participated in the Rend Lake fall golf tournament at the Franklin County Country Club on Friday, August 30th.  The Cardinals played 36 holes in the tournament.  MAC finished 5th out of 10 teams.  MAC Cardinal Tanner McKinney finished third place overall with a score of 141.  Eric McCoy scored a 152, Kellen Bader scored a 154, Matt Gordon scored a 160, and Eric Bennett scored a 161 to pace the Cardinals.  Kellen Bader highlighted the day by recording a hole in one for the Cardinals.  The golf team shot 45 strokes better than they did a year ago at the tournament.
