(12/20) Mineral Area Cardinals stay perfect at 3-0 in the Conference with a 94-47 win over Meramec. MAC jumped out to a 35-24 lead in the first half of their last MCCAC game of the first semester. The Cards pulled away from the Magic in St. Louis with a 59-23 second half margin. Jessica McQuin led the way with 18 points and 8 rebounds, Gretchin Gaskin added 14 and 9 assists, and LaShayla Bell chipped in 14. (12/18) Cardinals win OT thriller on the road: 83-80 over #23 Rend Lake. MAC traveled to Ina, IL, to face the Warriors in a mid-December clash with another ranked opponent. The Cards led 33-25 at the half, but the home team closed the gap to tie the game at 65 at the end of regulation. The Cardinals outscored Rend Lake 18-15 in OT to earn a victory. Caitlin Shadbolt led the way with 27 points and 12 rebounds, Gretchin Gaskin had 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Briley Milfeld added 15 points. Box Score
(12/13) Mineral Area College knocks off Vincennes University to avenge an early season loss. The Cards led 34-27 at the half, and earned the 77-69 win over the Trailblazers in the Rotary Shootout co-feature game. Caitlin Shadbolt scored 23 and grabbed 6 rebounds to lead the Cards. Briley Milfeld added 14 points and 8 assists, while Jessica McQuinn chipped in 12 on 6/9 shooting from the floor. Box Score
(12/8) Mineral Area on the wrong end of a one-point game, drop 53-52 decision to Kaskaskia College. The Cardinals led the Blue Angels 28-24 at the half after taking a 12-point first-half lead. KC, led by Whitney Williams with 15, outscored MAC 29-24 to earn the win at the MO/IL Shootout in Belleville, IL. The Cardinals were led by LaShayla Bell and Caitlin Shadbolt with 11 each. Box Score
(12/5) MAC Women drop 77-68 road contest to Northwest Mississippi CC. The Cardinals were looking to avenge an early-season double-OT loss to the Lady Rangers. The Cards trailed 35-28 at the half and dropped the decision by nine. Briley Milfeld led the way with 15 points, Gretchen Gaskin added 12 and 5 rebounds, and LaShayla Bell chipped in a dozen and 7 rebounds. Box Score
(12/1) Cardinals earn two wins at Vincennes (IN) Classic, highlighted by 105-point output in game two win. Mineral Area took a 44-18 lead over Malcolm X (Chicago, IL) and never looked back earning a 85-57 win on Friday. Loela Hubbard led the way with 14 & 5. (11/24) Mineral Area makes furious comeback to take a lead over #2 Kirkwood with 2.7 seconds left. But, the storybook ending slipped away as Kirwood dropped in a buzzer-beater to escape with a 69-68 win to close women's action in the Bob Sechrest Classic. The Cardinals were led by Briley Milfeld's 24 points (6/9 3FG) and Gretchin Gaskin with 13 points and 6 assists. Gaskin hit a shot with 2.7 seconds left to cap off a late surge by the Cards that helped to overcome a 10 point defecit in the closing moments. But, Kirkwood ended the game for the second night in a row in heart-breaking fashion with a buzzer-beater shot for the win. Box Score
(11/22) Cards still unbeaten in regulation, but drop a double OT decision to Rangers in Bob Sechrest Classic. Mineral Area had several chances to win the game against Northwest Mississippi, but the game slipped away ending in a 78-71 loss. The Cards led 25-23 at the half, built a late second half lead, and the game ended at 58-58 in regulation. Each team scored 8 in OT and NWMCC added a 12-5 advantage in double OT. (11/20) Milfeld hits three pointer in final seconds to help Cardinals earn a 64-61 victory over #6 Lewis & Clark. Mineral Area grabbed a key MCCAC win after a ten-day layoff to move to 4-0 (2-0) on the season. Gretchen Gaskin led the way with 16 points & 6 assists and Briley Milfeld ended with 14 points, including a game-winning three. Caitlin Shadbolt grabbed 11 rebounds and Karley Evans had 8 assists in the Carindals third straight win over nationally ranked opponents. Lindsey Rujawitz led the Trailblazers with 23. Box Score
(11/10) Cardinals move to 3-0 on the season and sweep the MAC Veterans' Day Classic with a 57-48 win over #15 Southwestern Illinois. Mineral Area led the BlueStorm 30-24 at the half and continued to play well earning their second win in two days. LaShayla Bell led the Cards with 13 & 11, Caitlin Shadbolt added 12 & 6, and Farmington product Briley Milfeld added 11 & 3 assists. Angelique Ford led SWIC with 10 points. Box Score
(11/9) Mineral Area wins opener in MAC's Veterans' Day Classic by holding on to beat #17 Seward County (KS). The Cards took a 30-21 lead into the half of their home opener over the Saints on Saturday night. Mineral Area opened up a double-digit lead behind a strong performance from Briley Milfeld with 15 points and 5 rebounds. The Cards held off a late comeback attempt by hitting 6 free-throws down the stretch to earn the 56-50 victory. Caitlin Shadbolt chipped in a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, while LaShayla Bell added 9 points and 10 rebounds. Box Score
(11/5) Cards win season opener over MCCAC Conference opponent Florissant Valley on the road. Mineral Area got off to a slow start in their season opener, leading a scrappy host in Florissant Valley 34-31. Gretchen Gaskin helped the Cards pull away in the second half with a game high 18 points. Sherry Glennie added 13, and Caitlin Shadbolt scored 11 & grabbed 13 rebounds. The Cards finally pulled away to grab a 56-55 win over the Fury and move to 1-0 mon the season and in the MCCAC Conference. Box Score
(9/17) Head Coach Gary Koch announces 2008-09 roster for Mineral Area's Women's Basketball Cardinals. MAC will have four returning sophomores from last year's 14-17 team. These four players were a big reason the Cards won their last five regular-season games. Caitlin Shadbolt (6'2" C) is the leading returner with 11.5 points and 6.1 rebounds a game. Farmington High School standout Briley Milfeld (5'9" G) is the only returning guard, and averaged 6.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.1 rebounds as a freshman. LaShayla Bell (5'10" F) returns 6.1 points and 6.2 rebounds, while Sherry Glennie (6'2" C) put up 4.3 points and 3.7 rebounds last season. The Cards will add experience with a solid PG via the transfer wire. Gretchen Gaskin (5'9" G) transfered from NCAA DI Seton Hall University after her freshman season. The Cardinals have signed seven freshmen for the 2008-09 season. Sarah Eagan (5'8" G) from South Shelby (Shelbina, MO), Kayla Tisza (5'9" G) Mother McAuley (Chicago, IL), Leola Hubbard (5'5" G) Caruthersville (MO), Karley Evans (5'9" G) from Rock Port (MO), Jessica McQuin (5'8" F) Brackenridge (San Antonio, TX), Lakia White (5'8" F) St. Louis, MO (Miller's Career Academy), and Katie Flanary (6'0" F) from Jefferson City (Holt's Summitt, MO) are all expected to make a quick transition from high school into the program.
(4/19) Lesley Adams signs National Letter of Intent to attend DI Southeast Missouri State University. The 6-2 power forward/center averaged 8.8 points per game, 1.2 steals per game and led the team in rebounding with 7.4 per game. She started in every game for the Cardinals over the past two seasons, earning 2007-08 First Team All Region XVI honors. Adams recorded five double-doubles in 2007-08 season including a 20 point 15 rebound game against Olney Central College. She scored a career-high 21 points on 8-15 shooting from the field and a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe while collecting 10 caroms against State Fair Community College. During her freshman season she averaged 7.4 ppg and a team-high 7.9 rpg. Adams played her prep ball at Career Academy in St. Louis. Press Release
(3/9) NJCAA All Region XVI selections include three Cardinals: Adams, Sands, and Fraser-Jones. Last month, three Cardinals were selected to the All-Conference team. The same three MAC players were selected by the Region Coaches for honors. Leandra Sands, a 5'5" guard, was named to the First Team. She averaged 9.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assist a game. Lesley Adams was also named to the All-Region XVI team. The 6'2" power forward/center led the team in rebounding at 7.4 a game, and averaged 8.8 points and 1.2 steals per game. Sarah Fraser-Jones earned All-Region honorable mention honors this season. Sarah averaged 6.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists per game.
(2/28) Three MAC Cardinals honored by MCCAC Conference Coaches. Leandra Sands was named to the First Team MCCAC All-Conference list this season. Sands, a 5'5" sophomore guard put up 9.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assist a game. Sarah Fraser-Jones earned second-team honors during her sophomore campaign. The Eastern Kentucky signee averaged 6.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists per contest. Lesley Adams was also named to the All-Conference second-team this season. The 6'2" post led the team in rebounding at 7.4 a game, and scored 8.8 and swiped 1.2 steals per game.

(3/1) Mineral Area finished regular season on a 5 game winning streak with 73-70 win over Crowder in Neosho. The Cardinals took a four point lead into the locker room at the half, and hung on for an impressive Region XVI road win that helped the Birds climb into a 3rd place tie in the Region standings. Leandra Sands led the way with 16 points and LaShayla Bell added a double-double with 14 & 10. Cobi Wires chipped in 13 & 5 assists, and Briley Milfeld added 11 & 3 asists. Box Score
