Head Coach - Dave Guemmer

Head Coach Dave Guemmer enters his 6th season as Head Softball Coach.  In his first season, the Lady Cardinals won Region XVI and District J championships to earn a berth in the NJCAA Division II World Series. In his second season, MAC once again won the Region XVI Tournament title.  This was highlighted by a superlative 15-1 Region XVI regular season record.  In year 3 Mineral Area won the Region XVI Title, the Distirict J Championship and was able to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament for the 2nd time.  Coach Guemmer has won the Region XVI Title 3 out of the 5 years he has coached here. In 2010 MAC they were defeated in the district tournament by Murray State Community College of Oklahoma, falling one game short of the World Series for the 2nd consecutive season. In 2011 MAC defeated Murray State to advance to their 2nd National Tournament in 3 years. 

Before beginning his coaching duties at Mineral Area, Coach Guemmer was the head Coach of the DeSoto High School Softball program for 9 years.   He was named the "KTTJ Coach of the Year" in 2006 & 2007.  The Dragons won District Championships in 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007, advancing to the Missouri State Championship Semi-Finals in 2006.  "Softball has finally become very competitive in the southern Jefferson County and St. Francios County areas.  The addition of the softball team allows us to bring quality student-athletes to MAC and allow them an opportunity to play softball close to home," commented Coach Guemmer.

 

 

Assistant Coach - Matt Guemmer

College:   Mineral Area College    AA

Coach Matt Guemmer returns to Mineral Area after a two year stint at the University of Missouri where he earned his Bachelor's of Education. While studying at Mizzou, Guemmer served as a student manager for the Missouri softball team that saw national rankings as high as 5th in the country. While under Head Coach Ehren Earleywine, Guemmer got to improve his understanding of the game. Earleywine and his staff allowed Guemmer to experience a high level of softball and get hands on experience with the inner workings of a major division I program. Guemmer also was able to spend time with some of the nations best, by getting to work with Team USA members, NCAA All-Americans, and SEC and Big 12 All-Conference players. Before going to Mizzou, Guemmer served as the Assistant Softball Coach for three seasons here at Mineral Area. During his three years at Mineral Area the Lady Cardinals saw 3 Region XVI championships and 2 District J Championships, earning the Lady Cardinals two trips to the NJCAA Women's College World Series. The Lady Cardinals saw an overall record of 108 wins and 62 losses. The Lady Cardinals also saw National Rankings each year as high as 16th and finished 9th in the nation in 2011. Guemmer is the son of Head Coach Dave Guemmer and lives in DeSoto, MO. Guemmer is also a graduate of Mineral Area College after earning his Associates of Arts in Teaching in 2010.
