(7/23) LaShayla Bell has signed a Letter of Intent to Play for the MAC Cardinals next season.  LaShayla is a 5'8" guard/forward that graduated from University City High School in 2006.  LaShayla will be transferring from Missouri Baptist University, where she was an All-American hurdeler on the track team last year.  Bell posted 16.7 PPG, 11.9 RPG, 1.7 APG, 3.2 SPG during her senior campaign. She was Missouri All State 1st Team selection, while also receiveing Suburban South All Conference Honors.  LaShayla is the sister of Laurie Bell who signed to play at MAC two weeks ago, and will be considered a freshman.

(7/5)  The Mineral Area Cardinals didn't take the Holiday off, they inked Laurie Bell.  Bell is a 5'7" shooting guard from University City High School (St. Louis, MO). She averaged 16.3 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 2.9 spg.  Bell Suburban South Conference in scoring and 3 point baskets made this season, and received All-Conference honors in the Suburban South Conference in both her junior and senior seasons.

(6/25)  Mineral Area College adds Cobi Wires from Quincy High School (Quincy, IL). Wires is a 5'4" PG that averaged 12.6 PPG, 6.2 APG, 3.1 SPG, as a senior.  She was named First Team All Western Big Six Selection.  She was a first-team All-Conference and fourth-team All-State selection as a junior.  Cobi received the MVP Award for 'McDonald's/Herald-Whig Classic' All-Star Game.  She led the Illinois all-star squad with 18 points, adeded 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists helping Illinois to a 75-60 win at Quincy University's Pepsi Arena.

(5/29) Mineral Area College adds more local flavor: signs top two senior scorers from the Jefferson County Conference. The Cardinals add two St. Pius X High School (Festus, MO) standouts for the 2007 season.  Margit Scauzzo, a 5' 10" Guard/Forward, averaged 13.6 PPG, 10.9 RPG, 3.2 APG, and 4.1 SPG.  She earned all Jefferson County Conference honors and was named to the KTJJ "Dream Team" this year.  Katie Eldridge, a 5' 6" Guard, averaged 12.5 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 2.0 APG, and 2.5 SPG while grabbing All-Conference honors in the JCC. 

(5/17)  Chanel Jones-Delas signs at Tulsa University and becomes the fourth Cardinal to sign at a NCAA Division I this spring.  Jones-Deles, a versatile 5'9" guard/forward, helped the Lady Cardinals to a 22-10 record in 2006-07.  She averaged 11.1 PPG, 4.5 RPG , 4.2 APG, and 1.5 SPG during her sophomore season at MAC.  Chanel was a human highlight reel, making two game-winning buzzer-beaters in a two week period [at State Fair (1/27) and at Moberly (2/10)].  "Chanel was our best one on one player and we would get her the ball at the end of these close games and let her make something happen," commeneted Assistant Coach Randy Skaggs.  Tulsa University is a NCAA DI affiliate (Tulsa, OK) that competes in Conference USA. 

(5/16)  Fran Henderson signs NCAA DI Letter of Intent to play at Norfolk State University.

Hendeson was a MCCAC All-Conference - Honorable Mention selection during her sophomore season at MAC.  She averaged 6.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 1.0 APG, while shooting 73.2% from the line and 43.8% from the feild.  Norfolk State a NCAA Division I school located in Norfolk, VA.  The Spartans compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).

(5/16) Mineral Area College announces 2007-08 Women's Basketball Schedule.  The Cardinals open their season on November 3 & 4 at the John A. Logan Classic (Carterville, IL).  They will tip-off at home in the innagural MAC Veteran's Day Classic on Nov. 9 vs. Southwestern Illinois at 7:00 and Nov. 10 vs. Rend Lake (IL) at 3:00.  Two Kansas schools will compete in the Roseners' Classic on Nov. 16 & 17 (Fort Scott & Labette).  MAC has road trips to Vinncennes (IN) and Iowa Western (Council Bluffs, IA).  The Cards will host Region and Conference rivals Jefferson (1/30) and Three Rivers (2/16).  Schedule Link  

(5/15)  Mineral Area College announces the signing of Caitlin Shadbolt, a 6'1" forward from Mooroopna Secondary School (Austrailia). Shadbolt played club basketball in her native Australia, averaging 11 PPG, 7 RPG, 1 APG, 1 SPG last season.  "Caitlin is a solid post player with shooting touch to 15 feet. She has good speed, has nice moves in the low post, does a good job on the defensive glass, and is a good finisher around the basket with both hands," commented Head Coach Gary Koch.  "She is a solid defender in both the post and on the perimeter, and will be a welcome addition to the Cardinals line-up next season."

(5/14) Amber Cunningham inks a Letter of Intent to play at Stetson University.  Cunningham, a 5'10" freshman forward, has decided to skip her sophomore season at junior college and move on to NCAA DI Stetson University.  Amber averaged 3.9 PPG, 2.9 RPG, .5 APG, and .5 SPG, while shooting 41% from the floor.  She played in 29 games during her only season at MAC, helping the team win 22 games and advance to the Region Championship game.  Stetson University is located in Deland, FL, and plays in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

(5/11)  Karolina Zaloga signs National Letter of Intent to play at NCAA DI Centenary.  Zaloga, a 5-foot-9 guard, was named to the NJCAA All-Region Team and earned first team All-Midwest Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) accolades while at Mineral Area College this past season.  "We are very excited Karolina has decided to join our program," Head Coach Steve Curtis said. "She is an outstanding passer, who can make plays off the dribble as well as shoot from deep. She is a great addition to our team." Zaloga averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game for the Cardinals. (5/1) The Mineral Area Women's basketball team announces the signing of 6'2" Katie Mills.
Mills is PF/C from Kettle Moraine High School in Hartland, WI. She opted for early graduation from high school last December, and skipped her senior season to join the Mineral Area College program in January. "Katie is a welcome addition to the team and as she gains experience and strength she will become a force in the post" commeneted Gary Koch.  "She gained valuable experience and got a jump-start on her college career working out with our program on a daily basis this winter and spring."

(4/17)  Cardinals sign three local products for the upcoming season.  Coach Gary Koch is excited to announce the signings of Briley Milfeld (Farmington, MO), Sarah Ward (Farmington, MO), and Betsy Royer (Fredericktown, MO).  The Farmington Knightettes earned a second place finish last season in the Missouri Class 4A State Championships, won the MAAA, and finished 27-4.  Coach Koch hopes his two signees will bring that Championship-level play to Mineral Area College.  Briley Milfield, a 5'8" forward, averaged 8.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.2 steals a game.  Sarah Ward, a 6'0" post, averaged 3 points & 2 rebounds a game during her senior season at Farmington.  Betsy Royer, a 6'0" post, averaged 11.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 3.7 blocks a game at Fredericktown High School during her senior season.

(4/9)  Missouri Baptist University Inks two Mineral Area College Cardinals for the 2007-08 season.  Dawn Leathers and Nikki Mitchell will play for Coach Danny Wingate and the Spartans at the NAIA affiliate located in St. Louis, MO.  Dawn averaged 4.5 points, 3.3 rebbounds, 1.8 assists, shot 49.6% from the feild, and 83.3% from the FT line, as well as maintaining a 4.0 GPA.  Nikki chipped in 3.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and shot 41.7 % from the feild this season for MAC.

(3/30)  Mineral Area places three on All-Region XVI team: Sands & Zaloga earn first team honors.  Sophomore Karolina Zaloga was the back-bone of the Women's basketball team this season, and was honored as a first team All-Region selection.  She averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 2.0 steals, 30.3% from three and 77.6% from the line.  Freshman Leandra Sands was also honored as a first team All-Region selection.  Sands led MAC in scoring with 13.4 points, while averaging 2.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.8 steals, 42.0 3FG%, and 71.6 FT%.  Sarah Fraser-Jones was selected to the second team All-Region list.  Sarah averaged 8.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 2.0 steals, while shooting 71.4% from the free throw line during her freshman campaign.  All-Region XVI Teams  

(3/19) Cardinals place four on MCCAC All-Conference team: Zaloga and Fraser-Jones earn first team selections.  Karolina Zaloga was honored as a first team All-Conference selection by the MCCAC Coaches.  Zaloga averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 2.0 steals, 30.3% from three and 77.6% from the line during her sophomore season at MAC. Sarah Fraser-Jones was selected to the first team All-Conference squad.  Sarah averaged 8.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 2.0 steals, while shooting 71.4% from the free throw line during her freshman campaign.  Freshman Leandra Sands was honored as a All-Conference Honorable Mention selection, she led MAC in scoring with 13.4 points, while averaging 2.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.8 steals, 42.0 3FG%, and 71.6 FT%.  Fran Henderson also notched All-Conference Honorable Mention honors.  Henderson averaged 6.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 73.2% from the free throw line.  The Cardinals finished second in the MCCAC this season with a 5-3 record.  

(3/11)  Cards drop Region XVI Championship Game to Vikings 82-65.  Mineral Area College finished 22-10 and in the Finals during Coach Koch's first season as the Cardinals Head Coach. But, Jefferson ended their National Tournament run with win over their old coach.    Karolina Zaloga led MAC with 13 points & 4 assists, Fran Henderson added 12 points & 8 rebounds, and Chanel Jones-Delas scored 12.  Leandra Sands scored 10 (6 boards,) and Lesley Adams nearly had a double-double with 9 points & 10 rebounds.  Game Stats

(3/10)  Mineral Area advances to Region XVI Tournament Championship Game with 83-71 win over Three Rivers.  The Cards advance to play Jefferson for the Region XVI crown in Gary Koch's first season with the birds.  MAC was led by Karolina Zaloga with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Leandra Sands added 19, Chanel Jones-Delas 13 points & 5 rebounds, Dawn Leathers chipped in 10 points & 5 rebounds, and Lesley Adams had 8 points & 9 rebounds.  The Cards will face Jefferson for the title at 3:00pm on Saturday at UMR.  Game Stats

(3/2)  Cardinals win season finale over Roughriders 77-55 to finish 21-9.  Leandra Sands led the scoring with 13 in the run-away victory for MAC.  Karolina Zaloga and Lesley Adams each scored 11.  Chanel Jones-Deles added 7 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assist, and 2 steals, while Sarah Fraser-Joneschipped in 8 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.  Game Stats

(2/26) Mineral Area earns the #2 seed in the upcoming Region XVI Tournament by beating State Fair (Sedalia, MO) 67-59.  The Cardinals were led by Karolina Zaloga with 19 points, Leandra Sands added 13, Chanel Jones-Delas scored 11 & 8 assists, and Lesley Adams notched 11 & 7 rebounds.  MAC trailed the Roadrunners 29-23 at the half, and used a 44-30 second half to earn their 20th win of the season.  Game Stats

(2/19)  Raiders grab win at Cardinals expense 69-63.  Mineral Area led 33-30 at the half, but dropped the Region contest to Three Rivers CC (Poplar Bluff, MO).  The Cards were led by Karolina Zaloga with 16 points and 6 rebounds, Leandra Sands with 13 points and 6 assists, and Sarah Fraser-Jones with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists.  Chanel Jones-Delas scored 10, and Lesley Adams grabbed 12 rebounds in the setback. (2/11)  Mineral Area comes from behind to win by one: 58-57 thriller at Moberly.  The Cardinals have won 8 of their last 10 games (only 2 losses coming to Region leading Jefferson) and have won several in thrilling fashion.  MAC pulled off another nail-biter over the Greyhounds.  Karolina Zaloga led the way with 16 points and 7 rebounds.  Lesley Adams was a huge presence inside with 12 and 8, while Sarah Fraser-Jones chipped in 11 and 4 assists in the win.  Game Stats  

(2/8)  Lady Cardinals cruise past Florissant Valley 68-23 in MCCAC Conference action.  MAC used a balanced attack with Sarah Fraser-Jones and Amber Cunningham leading the way with 12 points each.  Lesley Adams grabbed 11 boards, while chipping in 6 points, and Karolina Zaloga came close to a triple-double with 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 10 assists.  Fran Henderson also added 8 points.  Game Stats

(2/5)  Mineral Area moves to 4-2 in the Region with road win at Crowder (Neosho, MO).  The Cardinals jumped to a 45-25 half-time lead, and rolled to a 85-56 win.  Leandra Sands led the scoring with 24 points (6/9 3FG), Chanel Jones-Delas added 17 points, and Karolina Zaloga chipped in 15.  Game Stats

(2/1)  Cardinals drop Region XVI and MCCAC Conference contest at Jefferson (Hillsboro, MO) 70-60.  Mineral Area was led by Chanel Jones-Delas with 14 points, Leandra Sands with 11, while Karolina Zaloga added 10 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds.  The Vikings were led by Chytearra Kintchen with 26 and Robyn Stone with 19.  Game Stats

(1/28) Mineral Area grabs their first lead in the second half with only a few ticks remaining and hold on to win 85-84 at State Fair.  Cards move to 3-1 in Region XVI behind a 21 points (including the game winner), 5 rebounds and 6 assists from Chanel Jones-Delas.  Karolina Zaloga scored 18 with 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while Sarah Fraser-Jones added 14, Fran Henderson and Leandra Sands each chipped in 12.  The Road Runners were led by Marie Goyette with 19.  Game Stats

(1/18) Mineral Area bounces back with a win over Meramec (St. Louis, MO) 67-51.  The Cards earned a MCCAC Conference win over the Magic in Park Hills behind Karolina Zaloga's 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Leandra Sands added 11 points, Chanel Jones-Delas chipped in 10, and Sarah Fraser-Jones chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds.  Game Stats

(1/11)  Cardinals drop a tough contest to Region XVI and MCCAC Conference rival Jefferson 66-62.  Mineral Area led 40-34 at the half, but the offense sputtered in the second half as the Vikings grabbed the lead and held on for the win.  MAC was led by Karolina Zaloga with 22 & 6 assists, and Chanel Jones-Delas added 10. (12/15)  Cardinals run away with 71-54 win over visiting Blue Angels.  Mineral Area led Kaskaskia (Centrallia, IL) 42-26 at the half, and earned their 11th win of the season.  The Cards were led by Karolina Zaloga with 19 & 5 assists, Leandra Sands had 14 & 6 assists, and Fran Henderson chipped in 10.  Game Stats

(12/11)  MAC hands Rend Lake (Ina, IL) their only two losses of season witha 69-57 win in the Rotary Shootout.  Lesley Adams led the way with 18 points & 9 rebounds.  Karolina Zaloga added a double-double with 15 points & 10 assists.  Sarah Fraser-Jones chipped in 11, and Fran Henderson added 10 in the win.  Solange Dye led the way for the Warriors with 12 & 9.  Game Stats

(12/3) Mineral Area earns split in Sodexho Classic at Vincennes, IN.  The Cards dropped the opener 62-48 to the #4 Falcons from Southeastern Illinois.  Leandra Sands led the way with 17 and Karolina Zaloga added 15, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Game Stats  The Cardinals rebounded with a 54-53 win over the host Trailblazers from Vincennes University.  Karolina Zaloga nailed a three with 4 seconds left and ended the game with 13 points.  Leandra Sands led the way with 14 points, Dawn Leathers added 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Sarah Fraser-Jones dished out 9 assists in the thrilling victory.  Game Stats

(11/30)  Cardinals move to 2-0 in the MCCAC Conference with 70-56 win over Lewis & Clark.  The Cards led 40-28 over the Trailblazers in Godfrey, IL at the half.  MAC played solid defense, and handled Lewis & Clarks pressure to post the win.  The Cards were led by Leandra Sands' 16 points, Sarah Fraser-Jones added 14 with 5 assists, Karolina Zaloga chipped in 11, and Lesley Adams added 10.  Game Stats

(11/25)  Raiders spoil MAC's bid to stay perfect at the Spokes/Tradition Inn Classic, pull 68-64 upset over Cards.  Mineral Area trailed 39-27 at the half, and their second-half come-back bid was stopped 4 points short.  Leandra sands exploded for 24 points and 5 assists, Fran Henderson added 10 & 5, and Lesley Adams chipped in 9 & 10 rebounds.  Game Stats   DJ Article

(11/22)  Cardinals grab MCCAC Conference win over Forest Park 73-57.  MAC jumped out to a 26-19 halftime lead, and outscored the Highlanders 47-38 in the second half.  The Cards were led by Leandra Sands with 16, Fran Henderson 13 & 8, and Sarah Fraser-Jones 11 & 6.  FPCC was led by Canty with 10. (11/16)  Mineral Area advances to 4-1 with 82-69 road win at Rend Lake (Ina, IL).  The Cardinals led 41-34 at the half and outscored the Warriors 41-35 in the second half to earn the win.  MAC was led by Karolina Zaloga with 22 points.  Leandra Sands added 19, Amber Cunningham 11 (7 rebounds), and Lasley Adams added 8 points (11 rebounds).  The Warriors were led by Sierra Rambert with 18. (11/13)  Cardinals make clean sweep in Jefferson Classic, move to 3-1 on the season.  Mineral Area defeated Olney Central College (Olney, IL) 74-59 on Saturday.  The Cards were led by Chanel Jones-Delas with 13, Lesley Adams scored 10 and grabbed 16 rebounds, and Leandra Sands added 10 points.  MAC defeated South Suburban (S. Holland, IL) 74-40 on Sunday.  Karolina Zaloga led the way with 17 points and 8 assists, and Lesley Adams added 8 points and 11 rebounds.  Game Stats 

(11/6)  Mineral Area College comes home from season opening week-end with a split.  The Cardinals played the host Volunteers from John A. (5/8)  MAC's new head coach Gary Koch wasted little time in the transition from Jefferson: signing two players to NLIs.  The newest Cardinals include: Karolina Zaloga (Olsztyn, Poland) who will be transferring with the coaching staff from Jefferson, and Leandra Sands (Long Beach, CA).

(3/30)  Gary Koch will replace Lana LaBruyere as MAC's women's basketball coach.  Gary Koch (previous 3 seasons at Jefferson College) will move his entire staff to Mineral Area to take the helm of the Cardinals program.  Koch had the Vikings Nationally ranked in all three of the previous seasons and is excited to bring that tradition to MAC.  Press Release

(3/21)  MAC's Erica Anderson named to the All-Region team.  Mineral Area College sophomore point guard Erica "Speedy" Anderson has been an important peice of the puzzle for the Cardinals over the past two seasons.  Anderson was recently honored by the region coaches on the NJCAA All-Region XVI team.

(3/6)  Mineral Area's Dionn Jackson honored on 2005-06 MCCAC All-Conference team.  The Cards also placed Britany Sublett, Erica Anderson, and Marquette Hollins on the All-Conference Honorable Mention list.  MCCAC All-Conference Selections
