Coaches Comments: "Willie is one of the best offensive guards to come to MAC. He has the ability to shoot from behind the arc and a nice mid-range game. He can also act as a lock-down defender."
Senior Season at Portageville HS: Hassell averaged 20 PPG, 5 SPG, 5 APG, and 4 RPG as a senior. He made 75 % of his free throws and 40% from 3-point range. Willie led the Bulldogs to their first District Championship since 2000 with a 22-6 record. He was a first team All-Stater as a Junior & Senior. Hassell was simply one of the most unstoppable players in the area which made him the undisputed choice for the Bootheel Conference "Player of the Year," Class 3 first team All-Region, and the Standard Democrat "Player of the Year."
