2007 at DeSoto HS:
The Cardinals didn't have to go very far to sign their first player for the upcoming basketball season. Ryan Lawrence, a 6'4" versatile wing from DeSoto High School (DeSoto, MO) should help fill some of the holes left by the departing back-court of the Cardinals. Lawrence averaged 13 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 6 assists in his only season for Coach Allen Davis and the Dragons (23-5). "Ryan plays very hard, he can do alot of things well, he is a great rebounder, defender, and is an unselfish teammate," commented assistant coach Chad Kish. Lawrence was a First Team Missouri All-State selection, a First Team All-Conference selection, was selected as the Jefferson County Conference MVP, and was a St. Louis All-Metro Honorable Mention selection. The Dragons won the Hillsboro Tournament, finished second at the Park Hills Central Holiday Tournament, finished second at The Ameritime Classic at Parkway West, and won the Jefferson County Conference Championship. Ryan was selected to play in the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association/ Missouri Sports Hall of Fame All-Star Game at 8:15 pm on June 1, 2007, at Drury University (Springfield, MO).
