2005 at Austin HS:
Marquis was looming figure on the Cardinals side-line last season. He spent the season red-shirting after transferring to Mineral Area College from the University of Mississippi in the middle of the first semester. Young will bring a season of NCAA DI experience in the SEC with him, and most of the year last season practicing with MAC to the floor this season. Young was one of the top prep post recruits in the nation in 2005. He averaged 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists a game for Austin HS (19-8) during his senior season. He was the team's MVP, earned Illinois All-State honors, was an All-Conference selection, and was named Chicago Sun-Times "Player of the Week." Coach Tate stated, "Marquis has a great up-side. He has a great understanding of the game, is a nice passer from the post, and finishes well. The sky is the limit for him if he continues to work hard in the pre-season."
