Head Coach - Don Huff
Don Huff is in his second year as head coach of the Mineral Area College golf team. In his first year as coach, the Cardinals finished 12th in NJCAA National Tournament in Plymouth, Indiana. Tanner McKinney finished the tournament with a second place finish. Tanner tied for second place out of 128 participants. By finishing in the top 8 at Nationals, Tanner was placed on the NJCAA 1st Team All-American team By finishing in the top 18, Tanner also received All-Tournament team honors, and received a flag for the tournament. Tanner also participated in the U.S. Amatuer at Atlanta Athletic Golf Club last summer.
Coach Huff brings with him several years of experience as both a coach and administrator. Don graduated from the University of Missouri in 1980. He was both a teacher and an administrator at Fredericktown High School from 1980-2003, and at Central Middle School from 2003-2013. Coach Huff has been a high school principal and a middle school assistant principal and athletic director. He coached volleyball for six years, football for sixteen years, basketball for thirty-two years, track for six years, and golf for eighteen years. Coach Huff has been the Southeast District Athletic Director Representative for MSHSAA, southeast district athletic director of the year, MSHSAA golf rules interpreter, and ran the 3A state golf tournament. Don has taken golfers to the state tournament for fifteen years and coached a professional long drive champion, two golf professionals, and two high school golf coaches.
