MINERAL AREA COLLEGE
Athletic Facilities
FIELD HOUSE
The Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse
was originally built in 1970. It is a first-class junior college facility
that was named after the first basketball coach at Mineral Area College.
Coach Sechrest led the Cardinals basketball program for 24 years from inception
in 1961 through the 1986 season. The facility is located on-campus, and
has been renovated in 1997 and most recently in 2004. The wood floor has
been completely overhauled, the strength training facility has been updated,
and the locker-rooms have been re-modeled in the past year.
BASEBALL FIELD
The Cardinals currently play at the Mineral Area College Baseball Field located on campus adjacent to the field house. The MAC baeball field is a top-notch facility that was constructed in 2003 and is in it's second year of use.
STRENGTH TRAINING
Mineral Area College athletes have the opportunity to improve strength and conditioning in a variety of facilities on-campus. The Wellness Center is located across from the book store and has a variety of cardiovascular machines (treadmills, stationary bikes, StairMasters, and elyptical machines,) as well as universal strength training machines and free-weights. The MAC Strength Training Room is located adjacent to the gymnasium and houses a facility with free-weights, an athletic training area, and a team meeting area with televisions.
