(5/12/14)  Cardinals to have open tryout.  The MAC Baseball team will have an open tryout on June 4th, at 4:00 pm for the 2014-2015 baseball team.  This will take place at Hal Loughary Field on the MAC campus.

(5/12/14) MAC Baseball All-Region Announced  Congratulations to the three MAC Cardinals Baseball players that received Region 16 All-Region honors.  Hunter Leeper, Brad Cuyos, and Justin Murphy were all selected to the All-Region team.

 

(5/12/14) Mineral Area finishes in 2nd place in Region 16 Tournament.   Crowder came back out of the loser's bracket and won 5 straight elimination games, including two against MAC, to claim the Region 16 title.  The Cardinals were defeated by Crowder on Saturday by the score of 9-4 before coming back on Sunday to defeat Mineral Area 9-2 in the winner take all final.  MAC finishes the season 31-26.

(5/10/14)  MAC one win away from Region 16 Title.  The Cardinals advanced over Maple Woods in the Region 16 Tournament by the score of 1-0.  The Cardinals got a complete game effort out of Jalen Miller and are now just one win away from being Region 16 Champions.  Mineral Area has went undefeated in this tournament so far defeating St. Louis Community College, Crowder and now defending champion Maple Woods.  A team will have to come out of the loser's bracket and defeat them twice now in order to take the title away. 

(5/9/14)  MAC defeats Crowder in second game of Region 16 Tournament.  The MAC Cardinals scored another upset defeating #2 seed Crowder in the 2nd round of the Region 16 Tournament by the score of 6-5.  Crowder was #17 in the latest NJCAA poll and and 39-13 entering the game.  The Cardinals (30-24) put themselves in a great position now, just one game away from the championship game.  They will play Maple Woods today at 4:00 pm.

 

(5/8/14)  Cardinals win first game of Region 16 Tournament.  #6 MAC defeated #3 St. Louis Community College by the score of 6-4 in the 1st round of the Region 16 Tournament.  MAC was paced by Freshman Justin Murphy (North Callaway, Ausvasse, MO) who threw a complete game for the Cardinals.  Mineral Area will now play Crowder in the 2nd round.

(5/6/14)  Cardinals to participate in Region 16 Tournament this week.  MAC earned the #6 seed in the Region 16 Tournament and will play #3 St. Louis C.C. on Wednesday at 1:00 pm in Joplin, Missouri.  MAC finished the regular season with 28-24 record.  Below is the Region 16 Tournament bracket.

(4/29/14)  Game with Wabash Valley is cancelled.  The MAC baseball game scheduled for today (Tuesday, April 29th) at Wabash Valley has been cancelled.  This game will not be made up.

(4/28/14) Cardinals to host Fan Appreciation DayThe Mineral Area College Baseball team will be playing at home against North Central on Thursday, May 1st at 1:00 p.m. This is Fan Appreciation Day sponsored by College Park.  Come watch MAC Cardinals baseball and enjoy free hamburgers, hot dogs, and soda.   MAC concluded its sweep of St. Charles with a doubleheader win on Saturday.  MAC is now 25-23 on the season.

(4/25/14)  MAC sweeps St. Charles in Region 16 doubleheader.  Mineral Area went on the road and defeated St. Charles yesterday by the scores of 6-0 and 13-3.  MAC now has an overall record of 23-23.  They are going back to St. Charles on Saturday to play two more games against the Cougars before they finish up the regular season with Wabash Valley and North Central .

(4/21/14) Cardinals battle with Jefferson College over the weekend. The Mineral Area College baseball team played a four game set with Jefferson College on Thursday and Friday.  The Cards dropped both games at Jefferson on Thursday, losing 7-5 and 9-3.  MAC then bounced back on Friday and split the home doubleheader with the Vikings, winning the first game 2-1 and losing the second game 11-3.  The Mineral Area College Baseball team now has a record of 21-23 on the season.

(4/15/14)  Crowder takes 3 of 4 from MAC. The Mineral Area College baseball team hosted the #13 ranked team in the nation, Crowder, this past weekend for a four game set.  The Cardinals lost the first three games of the series by scores of 9-1, 9-6, and 7-2.  MAC bounced back in the final game of the weekend to defeat the Rough Riders by the score of 10-7.  Cardinal’s shortstop, Hunter Leeper connected on his third grand slam of the season in the series finally.  The MAC baseball team now has a record of 20-20 on the season.

(4/11/14) PRESS RELEASE:  The MAC baseball game scheduled with Crowder for tonight has a time change.  The game will be played at Wilson Rozier in Farmington at 6:00 p.m. rather than 7:00 p.m.

(4/7/14) MAC goes 2-2 over the weekend against rival Three Rivers.  The Cardinals lost two games on Saturday at home against Three Rivers before turning around and sweeping the Raiders down in Poplar Bluff on Sunday.  MAC lost the Saturday games by the scores of 5-0 and 9-8.  On Sunday, Mineral Area bounced back and won two games at Three Rivers by the scores of 6-5 and 11-4.   Next up will be a 4 game series against Crowder. Friday night will be a single 9 @ Wilson Rosier Park. 2 games Saturday at home and a single 9 Sunday at home. Crowder is currently the #14 ranked team in the latest NJCAA Poll.

(4/2/14)  PRESS RELEASE:  The Mineral Area College baseball game scheduled to be played on Thursday, April 3rd at Three Rivers has been moved to Friday, April 4th at Poplar Bluff.  Game one begins at 1:00 p.m.

(3/31/14)  MAC continues busy schedule.  MAC played 6 games in 4 days starting this past Thursday. They hosted Central Methodist JV on Thursday, March 27th.  The Cards won both games of the double header with scores of 10-3 and 10-2.  MAC then traveled to Kansas City over the weekend to play at Region 16 opponent, Maple Woods.  The Cardinals lost all four games in the series, losing by scores of 7-4, 11-7, 10-8, and 13-11.  MAC now has a record of 16-15 on the season.

(3/24/14)  Cardinals open up Region play. The Mineral Area College baseball team traveled to Carterville, IL on Tuesday, March 18th.  The Cardinals split the double header losing 5-3 and winning 4-2.  MAC then played St. Louis Community College on the road in a four game set on Thursday and Saturday.  The Cards split the series by losing the first game 1-0, winning the second game 2-1, losing the third game 2-1, and winning the finally 10-5.  The MAC Cardinal Baseball team now has a record of 14-11 on the season.

(3/17/14)  MAC winners of 4 in a row after sweep of Lindenwood-Belleville JV.  The Cardinals baseball team swept their last two opponents to improve their overall record to 11-8.  Mineral Area swept Rend Lake by the scores of 10-0 and 8-5 before defeating Lindenwood-Belleville 16-4 and 12-8.  MAC takes on John A. Logan in Carterville, Illinois tomorrow at 1:00

(3/4/14)  Cardinals sign Brice Mueller from Ashland, Missouri.  The MAC Cardinals baseball program has signed RHP Brice Mueller from Southern Boone HS in Ashland, MO for the 2014-2015 season.


"We are very excited to add a player of Brice's caliber to our program. Brice has great size and an extremely high ceiling.  We expect him to make an immediate impact on the mound for us as a freshman" commented assistant coach Mike Overman.

 


(3/4/14) MAC baseball back at it this week. The MAC Cardinal Baseball team will be traveling to Trenton, MO on Thursday, March 6th to take on North Central.  Game one of the double header is scheduled to begin at noon on Thursday.  The Cardinals will then play host to North Central on Saturday, March 8th.  Game one of the double header is scheduled to begin at noon.

(2/25/14)  PRESS RELEASE:  The MAC baseball game with Southwestern Illinois scheduled for tomorrow has been moved from the Belleville, IL location to Hal Loughary Field on the MIneral Area College campus.  Game one of the double header tomorrow is scheduled to begin at1:00 p.m.

(2/24/14)  Cardinals go 1-3 on road trip losing three games by 1-run.  MAC baseball had four very close games down in Goodman, Mississippi this weekend, losing 3 of 4.  On the the first day MAC defeated East Central Mississippi by the score of 4-3 and lost to Holmes C.C. by the score of 11-10.

On the second day the Cardinals dropped both games of the double-header.  The first game was a 7-6 loss to Holmes followed by a 6-5 setback to Pearl River. 

The Cardinals (6-6) open up their season with 20 consecutive road games.  This will continue on Tuesday when they travel to SWIC to play two games starting at noon.

(2/19/14)  No-hitter highlights double-header sweep of Williams Baptist. MAC traveled south yesterday to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and took two games from Williams Baptist JV by the scores of 13-0 and 8-0.  Sophomore Jalen Miller (Louisville, KY) threw a no-hitter in game 2 for the Cardinals.  Jalen had 11 strikeouts and 2 walks in the complete game victory. 

The Cardinals (5-3) will be back on the road for 4 games in Goodman, MS this weekend. On Saturday(2/22) they will play Holmes CC and East Central CC(MS). On Sunday(2/23) they will play Holmes CC and Pearl River CC. All games will be on the campus of Holmes CC.

(2/10/14)  Cardinals sign Tanner Kulpa from Francis Howell High School.  Blake Jones announced the signing of Francis Howell Senior Tanner Kulpa.  " Tanner will have the opportunity to be a dual way player for us. Tanner is a very talented arm that has the ability to make an immediate impact on our program."

(2/10/14)  MAC goes 3-1 to open up season.  The MAC baseball team traveled south to Jackson, Mississippi to start their season, winning 3 out of 4 games.  The Cardinals started day one with a 12-6 win over Hinds Community College.  Later in the day MAC trumped Meridian Community College 14-10.  The next day the Cardinals played a double-header against Itawamba Community College and split the twin-bill winning by the score of 12-6 and losing 8-6 in game two.

MAC will play again next weekend down in Millington, Tennessee against Connors State out of Oklahoma and Hinds Community College.  Connors State is currently the #2 ranked team in the latest NJCAA Division I poll.

(2/6/14)  Cardinals sign two Cuba High School standouts.  MAC continued to put together their 2014-2015 recruiting class signing  Bryer Nash and Ryan Bouse from Cuba High School in Cuba, Missouri. 


"Bryer is a guy that we feel is going to do a great job behind the plate for us next year. Catching was a big need for us going into next season. Bryer is a talented receiver and has a great arm that should translate well to the next level"


"Ryan is a very talented middle infielder who we think has the ability to make a big impact for us with his bat. He has very nice hands and will be a great addition to our program."

(1/31/14)  Baseball season officially starts a week from tomorrow.  The MAC baseball team will start earlier than usual this season when they travel south to play in the state of Mississippi.  They will play Saturday, February 8th against Hinds Community College and Meridian Community College in Jackson, Mississippi.  Meridian has made 7 trips to the NJCAA World Series since 1993.

(1/29/14) Cardinals sign Josh Stevens from Bernie High School.  The Mineral Area baseball team announces the signing of Inf/Of Josh Stevens from Bernie High School in Bernie, MO for the 2014 season. Josh is a teammate of recent MAC signee Josh Haggerty from the summer prospect team Missouri Bulls out of Cape Girardeau. Coach Overman says, "we expect Josh to be a nice player for us, and he has the ability to play multiple positions for us defensively." 

 

(1/29/14) MAC signs trio of Jefferson City Jays.  The Mineral Area baseball team has signed three Jefferson City Jays standouts for the 2014 season. (1/29/14)  Cardinals sign Luke Latham from Willard High School.  The Mineral Area baseball team has signed 1st baseman Luke Latham from Willard High School in Willard, MO for the 2014 season. Pictured below is Luke at the time of his signing, with MAC assistant coach Garrett Wiggans. Wiggans says "Luke's power is a definite need at the first base position, we are excited to have a player like Luke to add some pop to our lineup in 2014." The MAC Cards open their season Feb. 8th in Jackson, Mississippi.

(1/22/14)  MAC signs Josh Haggerty from Cape-Notre Dame.  The Mineral Area baseball team has signed Josh Haggerty - an outfielder - from Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.   Pictured below is Josh at the time of his signing his letter of intent.

(11/27/13)  Three Cardinals to move on to 4-year universities.  MAC announced that Hunter Leeper, Colby Brown, and Connor Davault have decided to continue their playing careers.  Leeper, a shortstop from Mokane, MO, has signed a letter of intent to play at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  SEMO is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference and a NCAA Division I school.Colby Brown, a right-handed pitcher and Connor Davault, a catcher, are both former MAAA players from Perryville High School and Farmington High School.  They will continue to be teammates at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois.  McKendree competes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and is a NCAA Division II school.MyMoInfo.com article.

(11/19/13) Baseball helps out with Cardinals day at Parkside Elementary.  The MAC baseball team assisted in Cardinals Day at Parkside Elementary just recently.  Parkside is a part of the North County R-1 School District.  As part of this day, Fredbird and other personnel from the St. Louis Cardinals talked to the students about the importance of staying in school and staying off drugs.  Pictured below are 4 of MAC's players who took part in the event.

(10/28/13) The Cardinal baseball program hosted an alumni game for all former MAC baseball players.  The event turned out a large number of former players.  Former coaches Jim Gerwitz and Stan Walden assisted in the day's activities.  The game was won by the current Cardinals by the score of 8-3.  You can view pictures of the event above under the "Alumni Game Photo Gallery" tab.

(9/30/13)  Cardinals defeat St. Louis Community College  The Mineral Area College baseball team hosted St. Louis Community College on Saturday, September 28th.  The Cardinals defeated SLCC 10-6.  The MAC baseball team now has a record of 7-3-1.

(9/16/13)  Baseball splits with Southwest Tennessee. 

The Mineral Area College baseball team traveled to Memphis, Tennessee on Friday, September 13th and played a double header against Southwestern Tennessee.  MAC split the double header, winning 3-1 and losing 7-1.  The MAC Cardinal Baseball team now has a record of 5-2-1 on the fall season.

(9/3/13)  Cardinals go undefeated down in Tennessee. The Mineral Area College baseball team traveled to Dyersburg, TN on Saturday, August 31st.  The Cardinals had a good trip, winning three games and tying one game.  MAC defeated Southwest Tennessee 4-2.  Mineral Area then played Dyersburg State, winning both games with scores of 9-6 and 4-3.  The Cards wrapped up their day by tying Southwestern Tennessee.  The MAC baseball team now has a record of 3-0 and 1 on the fall season. 

(7/23/13)  Cardinals place 9 on All-Conference Team.  The Mineral Area baseball team had 9 players placed on this year's MCCAC All-Conference Team.  The following is a list of those who received the honor:1st Team:

Hunter Leeper was MAC's lone representative on the NJCAA All-Region team.  Hunter earned 1st team honors.

Stan Walden was named MCCAC Coach of the Year.  Coach Walden was very successful as the head coach of the program winning 29 and 33 games in his two years as Head Coach.  Coach Walden announced his resignation in May.
