(6/12/13)  Justin Murphy signs with MAC.  The MAC baseball team has announced the signing of Justin Murphy a right-handed pitcher from North Callaway High School.  The Cardinals are coming off a 33-23 season and will be lead this year by first-year Head Coach Blake Jones.

(5/28/13)  Open tryout set for June 5th.  New Head Coach Blake Jones and his staff will hold an open tryout for the 2013-2014 baseball team at Hal Loughary Field on June 5th at 4:00 PM.

(5/23/13)  Mineral Area College is proud to announce the hiring of Blake Jones as their new head baseball coach.  Coach Jones is replacing Coach Stan Walden, who announced his retirement at the end of the MAC baseball season.  Coach Jones served as Coach Walden’s assistant for two seasons, and worked as Jim Gerwitz’s assistant coach for two seasons prior to that.  Coach Jones began his collegiate coaching career at Lincoln University in 2009.

 Blake Jones played his high school career at nearby Valley of Caledonia High School, where he was a three time All-State athlete in baseball.  Jones then went on to pitch at Mineral Area College from 2004-2006.  He participated in the Region 16 All-Star game his sophomore season at MAC.  Blake then went on to finish up his baseball career at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.   “I’m excited about the opportunity to coach baseball at Mineral Area College,” stated Jones.  “I’m looking forward to the challenges of being a head coach in Region 16.  Having a played at MAC, it’s an honor to now be able to coach here.”


(5/13/13) MAC climbs back and finishes in 3rd in Region 16 Tournament.  The MAC baseball team was able to climb back into contention after a first round loss but was ultimately eliminated by the #1 seed Crowder Roughriders.  The Cardinals came back to defeat St. Charles, Jefferson and Three Rivers before falling 11-3 to Crowder. Crowder forced a winner take all game with Maple Woods but Maple Woods won that game to become the Region 16 Champions.The Cardinals finish their season at 33-23.

(5/9/13)  Cardinals fall in first game of Region 16 Tournament.  #4 seed Mineral Area fell to #5 seed St. Louis by the score of 12-2 yesterday in the first round of the Region 16 Tournament.  MAC (30-22) now plays against #8 seed St. Charles today at 10:00 AM.

(5/6/13)  Region 16 Tournament now set.  The MAC baseball team will play on Wednesday at 10:00 am against St. Louis Community College. The game will take place at Wilson Rozier Field in Farmington as a part of the 1st round of the Region 16 tournament.  Mineral Area is the #4 seed.

(4/29/13)  MAC concludes regular season tomorrow.  MAC will play a home doubleheader tomorrow against Wabash Valley at 1:00 at Hal Loughary Field.  These are the last games scheduled for the Cardinals before the Region XVI Tournament.Mineral Area lost both games of the doubleheader with Jefferson yesterday by the scores of 4-3 and 15-3.

(4/26/13)  Cardinals split home doubleheader with Jefferson College.  The MAC baseball team won one of two yesterday against MCCAC and Region XVI rival Jefferson College at Hal Loughary Field.  MAC won the first game 4-2 on a Hunter Leeper two-run home run in the bottom of the 7th inning.  The Cardinals got a complete game effort from Wayde Roth in game 1.  In game 2, Mineral Area fell in 14 innings 10-4 to the Vikings in game 2.  MAC (30-17) will play Jefferson again on Sunday now at Viking Field in Hillsboro starting at 1:00.  They will conclude their regular season with a home doubleheader against Wabash Valley on Tuesday.  Then, they will play in the Region XVI Tournament at Wilson Rozier Park in Farmington, beginning May 8th.

(4/11/13)  Schedule change for baseball team.  The MAC baseball team will play Three Rivers tomorrow at home rather than today, due to inclement weather. 

MAC vs. Three Rivers- Friday, April 12th at Hal Loughary Field on the MAC campus.  Game 1  of the double header is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.

(4/8/13)  MAC splits weekend series with Maple Woods.  The Mineral Area College baseball team went 2-2 against the Maple Woods Monarchs over the weekend at Hal Loughary Field.  MAC is now 27-8 and they are 12-4 in the Region XVI.  Wayde Roth (Valle - St. Genevieve) threw a complete game shutout in game 2 for MAC.  The Cardinals will take on rival Three Rivers on Thursday at home at 1:00 before traveling to Poplar Bluff on Saturday, for a noon start, to finish the 4-game series.

(4/1/13)  Cardinals take 3 out of 4 from STLCC.  MAC baseball continues to roll along defeating STLCC 3 out of 4 games to move to 22-5 on the season.  The Cardinals are 10-2 in the Region and 10-2 in the MCCAC.  Mineral Area will now travel to play two road doubleheaders against Rend Lake and Missouri Valley JV.

(3/25/13)  MAC signs outfielder from the state of Mississippi.  The Mineral Area baseball team has signed Charlie Palmer, an outfielder from South Haven, Mississippi. The Cardinals are off to a terrific start this year.  They are currently 19-4 and 7-1 in Region XVI, as well as 7-1 in the MCCAC.

(3/19/13)  Cardinals complete their spring break trip. The MAC baseball team

recently traveled on their southern spring break trip.  Before venturing south, the Cards defeated Southeastern Illinois twice, with scores of 6-1 and 4-3.  MAC then beat St. Charles twice, winning 8-0 and 8-1.  MAC played St. Charles in a second double header winning the first one 9-4 and losing the second game 3-2.  The first game of the spring trip MAC defeated Wallace-Dothan Community College 10-4.  Mineral Area then played Enterprise State, losing by the score of 12-10.  The Cards were defeated by Lurleen B. Wallace 11-9.  MAC finished their southern trip splitting with Andrew College.  The Cards lost the first game 9-2 and won the second game 5-3.  The MAC Cardinals now have a record of 15-4 on the season.

(3/8/13)  MAC wins two more, now 12-0 to start season.  The Cardinals continued their red-hot play by sweeping St. Charles Community College yesterday by the scores of 8-0 and 8-1.  Pitching was the story of the day as MAC got a complete game shutout from Carlos Vargas (Arlington, TX) in game one followed by an 8 inning 13 strikeout performance from Jeff King (Paris, TX) in game two.  Mineral Area is off to their best start in recent memory.  They have now out-scored their opponents by an impressive 82-18 margin on the year.  They will be back in action Saturday, at home at 1:00, to complete the last two games of their four game set with St. Charles.

(3/5/13)  Cardinal baseball now 10-0 after sweep of SE Illinois.  MAC baseball is off to its best start in years thanks to 10 consecutive wins to begin the 2013 season.  Yesterday, MAC swept Southeastern Illinois by the scores of 6-1 and 4-3 to keep their undefeated streak alive.  The Cardinals will now start conference play when they travel to St. Charles on Saturday the 9th when they take on St. Charles Community College.  Today's game with Central Methodist JV is canceled due to weather.  No make up game has been announced.

(2/26/13)  MAC runs win streak to six to start the season.  The MAC baseball team is 6-0 after their two victories yesterday over Williams Baptist JV.  The Cardinals won the first game by the score of 8-1 and the second 6-4.  They will play against Harding JV on Thursday at 1:00 pm in Searcy, Arkansas

.(2/15/13) Cardinals win first two game of the season.  Mineral Area won their first two games of the 2013 season defeating Hannibal Langrange JV by the score of 10-0 and 5-1.  MAC was solid both offensively and defensively in the home doubleheader.  Wayde Roth (St. Genevieve) won the first game for the Cardinals throwing 4 innings of 2 hit ball with 5 strike outs.  Devon Hampton (Potosi, MO) got the victory in the 2nd game going 6 innings with 7 strikeouts and no walks.  Mineral Area (2-0) now travels south to Millington, Tennesse to play Sunday against Connors State and Lakeland College.

(2/12/13)  Baseball opens up on Thursday.  The Mineral Area baseball team will officially start their season this week with a double-header against Hannibal Lagrange JV on Thursday at Hal Loughary Field.  The Cardinals are coming off a 29-24 season.

(2/4/13)  Dakota Glore signs with Mineral Area.  Local standout Dakota Glore has signed a letter of intent to play baseball next year at Mineral Area College. The Senior at Potosi High School is the younger brother of former MAC standout Tanner Glore.  Tanner was a two-time All-Region XVI player for the Cardinals.

(9/24/12)  Cardinals participating in fall season. The MAC baseball team journeyed to Sauget, IL to play Lindenwood-Belleville on Thursday, September 20th.  The Cards split the double-header winning 9-6 and losing 5-4.  Mineral Area then traveled to St. Louis this past weekend and defeated the St. Louis Games, and lost to Olney Central.  MAC is now 4-4 in the fall season.

(8/6/12)  Cardinals to hold open tryouts.  The MAC baseball team will hold an open tryout for prospective athletes on Wednesday.  The tryout will take place on the MAC campus at Hal Loughary Field at 4:00 PM.  Please contact head coach Stan Walden at 518-2224 for further details.
