(6/7/11)  Two more Cardinals sign with NCAA Divsion II schools.  Local product Molly Barnes (Farmington) and Sonya Milford (Wellington, New Zealand) have agreed to play at 4-year schools next year.  Molly will play at the Universtiy of Missouri-St. Louis and Milford has decided to continue her career at Lindenwood University.

(5/3/11)  Briannica Tye signs to play at Robert Morris University.  MAC sophomore Briannica Tye has agreed to play at NCAA Division I Robert Morris University.  Robert Morris is located in Moon Township, Pennsylvania and competes in the Northeast Conference.  The Colonials were 16-14 last season. 

Briannica was an Honorable Mention All-American for the Cardinals her sophomore year.

(4/20/11) Gary Koch announces signing of 8 new players for next year. The women's basketball team has signed 8 players for the 2011-2012 season.  They are the following:

Nathalie Felipe from Flanagan H.S. in Miramar, FL. An Honorable Mention All Broward County (Miami) in H.S. She is a 5'11" guard/forward. 

Caroline Fister is from Poplar Bluff H.S., Poplar Bluff, MO. She is a 5'10" All SEMO Conference Team forward.

Brittany Lawson is from Cheyenne East, Cheyenne, WY. Lawson posted averages of 10.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 2.1 steals. 1st Team All State WY post/forward at 5'11".

Erin Littrell is from Farmington, MO. She is 5'9" and a 2nd team All Region guard/forward.

Chelsea Pannier is from Cape Central H.S., Cape Girardeau, MO. She is a 5'11"

Angela Randall is from North Tech H.S., St. Louis, MO. She is a 5'4" point guard averaging 11.3 ppg 6.9 apg in high school.

Robniesha Wood is from Hazelwood East H.S., St. Louis, MO. She is averaged 19 ppg in high school. She is a transfer from Florissant Valley.

(4/14/11) Emily Brumitt and Devonna Smith sign letter of intents to play at UMSL.  MAC sophomore's Emily Brumitt and Devonna Smith will continue their playing careers next season at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. UMSL is coached by Lisa Curliss Taylor and participates in the Great Lakes Valley conference. 

Emily is a 5'9" guard from Cape Girardeau.  She attended Notre Dame high school.  Devonna is a 5'11 forward from Kirkwood, MO and played at Kirkwood high school.

(4/13/11)  Summer camp information released.  iMineral Area women's basketball will host a summer basketball camp on June 14th -17th.  The camp will be held at the Bob Sechrest Field House on the main campus for 5th-12th grade.

(4/6/11)  Briannica Tye receives All-American honors.  Sophomore point guard Briannica Tye has been named to the NJCAA All-American team.  Briannica is a 5'3"  sophomore point guard from Aurora, Illinois.  She averaged 13.6 points per game while dishing out 5.6 assists.  She was named to the honorable mention team. 

(3/5/11)  Two Cardinals named 1st-Team All-Conference.  Hanna Vette and Briannica Tye were named to the MCCAC All-Conference 1st team.  Briannica is a 5'3"  sophomore point guard from Aurora, Illinois.  She averaged 13.6 points per game while dishing out 5.6 assists.  Hanna is a 5'8" sophomore guard from Rock Port, Missouri.  She averaged 11.9 points per game along with 5.6 rebounds.

(3/4/11) Cardinals season ends in Region XVI Tournament.  The women's basketball team had their season end in the semifinals of the Region XVI Tournament on Friday night losing to 9th ranked State Fair 90-57.  MAC was up early on in the second half but State Fair went on a 30-4 run to surge ahead in the game and ultimately end the Cardinals season.  Emily Brumitt and Briannica Tye both had 14 points for MAC.

(3/2/11)  MAC gets big win in Region XVI Tournament.  The Mineral Area women's basketball team got their biggest win of the year last night in Poplar Bluff knocking off the Three Rivers Raiders in a 59-54 win. The Lady Cards got a big night from Briannica Tye who had 29 points.  Sonya Milford contributed with 10 points and 11 rebounds. 

Next up for the Cardinals is a trip to Jefferson City to play State Fair at Jefferson City.  This game will take place Friday night at 7:00 at Lincoln University.  The winner will advance to the Region XVI Championship game.

(2/28/11) Lady Cards fall to State Fair on Homecoming night.  The Mineral Area women's basketball team lost a home game to Region XVI rival State Fair Saturday at the Bob Sechrest Field House. MAC got solid contributions from Briannaca Tye who had 21 points 5 assists 4 steals.  Hanna Vette had 18 points and 6 rebounds.  Local product Molly Barnes had 11 points 6 rebounds for the Cardinals. 

Next up for MAC is the all-important Region XVI Tournament.  Mineral Area will travel Poplar Bluff on Tuesday to take on Three Rivers.  The game will start at 5:00 and be followed the the men's game.

(2/24/11)  MAC gets home victory against Region XVI rival Crowder.  The Mineral Area women's basketball team won a key Region XVI game last night against Crowder.  Crowder made 13 three pointers, racking up 74 total points, but it wasn't enough as the Cardinals scored 6 more for the 80-74 home victory.  MAC had a balanced scoring attacking getting solid contributions from the following:  Hanna Vette 19, Emily Brummitt 17, Devonna Smith 12, Molly Barnes 10, Briannica Tye 9. 

The Lady Cardinals will be back at the Bob Sechrest, Sr. Fieldhouse at 5 p.m. on Saturday in a doubleheader with the men against State Fair as part of MAC’s Homecoming festivities.

(2/17/11)  Cardinals roll to easy win over MCCAC rival Forest Park.  The women's basketball team played a solid game last night conference victory last night winning by the score of 76-41.  Sonya Milford had 10 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.  Devonna Smith had 12 points and 7 rebounds. Briannica Tye had 10 points and 7 assists while Hanna Vette added 10 more.  The Cardinals now go on the road to play against Three Rivers on Saturday at 7:00 P.M.

(2/11/11)  Cardinals fall to Region XVI Iowa Western in Council Bluffs.  The MAC Lady Cardinals lost to Iowa Western (23-2) in a Region XVI road game in Iowa.  Despite 14 points by Briannica Tye and 12 more from Rita Banaszczak MAC fell by the score of 52-69.  The Cardinals next play at Moberly on Saturday at 5:30. 

(1/27/11)  Cardinals drop MCCAC and Region XVI game to Jefferson.  The Lady Cardinals went on the road last night to play the defending Conference and Region XVI champion Jefferson College Vikings.  Despite having beat them earlier in the season at Mineral Area, Jefferson returned the favor last night scoring a convincing 81-55 victory.  Hanna Vette led the Cardinals with 15 points. 

MAC (12-10) now goes on the road to face one of their toughest tests of the year when they travel to play the 5th ranked team in the country; the State Fair Roadrunners, who are 17-2 on the season.

(1/24/11)  Mineral Area gets key Region XVI win against Moberly.  The Women's basketball team got a big win against Moberly on Saturday night winning by the score of 72-60.   MAC now improves to 12-9 overall and 2-3 in the Region.  Briannica Tye had a big night for the Cardinals scoring 21 points and 10 assists.  Hanna Vette led the Cardinals with 22 points and 6 rebounds. 

MAC travels to nationally-ranked Jefferson on Wednesday for a key MCCAC and Region 16 matchup at 6:00.  Then, the Lady Cards are at nationally-ranked State Fair on Saturday at 5:00.

(1/13/11)  Lady Cards get big win against 4th ranked Jefferson College.  The MAC women's basketball team won a MCCAC Conference and Region XVI game last night against the defending conference champion Jefferson College Vikings.  Jeffco entered the contest 14-1 and are currently the 4th ranked team in the NJCAA national rankings.  Sonya Milford (Wellington, New Zealand (Sacred Heart College) led the Cardinals with 17 points.  Kylie Oertel from Fredericktown scored 12 and Hanna Vette 11 to help lead the Cardinals to the 61-59 home victory. 

MAC (11-6) is now 4-1 in the conference. They travel to Neosho, MO on Saturday to take on Crowder at 2:00 PM.


(1/3/11)  MAC women take 3rd place in LSU-Eunice Tournament.  The women's basketball team played well over the weekend down in Louisiana narrowly losing to LSU-Eunice before defeating John Wood Community College out of Illinois.  The Cardinals lost a heartbreaker in the opener to the host team; 66-60 in overtime.  MAC was lead by Hanna Vette who had 15 points.  In the consolation game the Lady Cards won a low scoring game 45-32 behind Rita Banaszczak's 10 points. 

MAC (10-5) will now be in action on Saturday night against Three Rivers.  The Cardinals are 3-0 in the conference and will look to get a big win at the Bob Sechrest Field House at 5:00 against the college's biggest rival.


(12/5/10)  Women go 2-1 over the weekend in the Vincennes Classic.  The women's basketball team won two thrillers out in Vincennes, Indiana but the momentum wasn't enough for them to capture a 3rd consecutive victory as they fell on Saturday to the host team.  On Friday, MAC went on a 11-0 run in overtime to get the win over Southwestern Illinois.  The success in overtime was preceded by Briannica Tye once again coming through for MAC with a game tying field goal with 16 seconds left.  Mineral Area then had a strong defensive stand at the end of the regulation to force the overtime session.  Sonya Milford had 19 points and Hanna Vette added 16. 

The Cardinals played even with Vincennes on Saturday through the first half, but the Lady Trailblazers ran away with the second half behind stellar free throw shooting. Hanna Vette had another good game for MAC with 21 points.   

MAC (7-4) will now be in action on Saturday at home as a part of the annual Rotary Shootout.  They will play against John A. Logan at 5:00.  Then, on Wednesday the 15th, they will play against Southwestern Illinois at 7:00 in Belleville, Illinois. 

Over the holiday break the Lady Cards will travel south to Eunice, Louisiana to play in the LSU-Eunice Tournament.  The first game will be on Friday, December 31st against LSU-Eunice at 8:00 P.M.

(12/3/10)  Mineral Area wins game over Olney in dramatic fashion.  The women's basketball team got a thrilling win last night over Olney Central in the Vincennes Classic.  Briannica Tye hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer to give MAC the victory.  The sophomore guard from Aurora, Illinois launched up a shot with the Cardinals down by one.  After the ball hit the front of the rim, it rolled around and at one time suspended on the rim completely still, before ultimately dropping through for 3 points and 68-66 victory.  MAC is now 6-3 and will continue tonight in the Vincennes Classic against Southwestern Illinois.

(11/24/10)  Lady Cards dominate MCCAC conference game against Shawnee.

The Mineral Area women's basketball team had a convincing win over the newest member of the conferences winning a 88-46 contest over the visiting Shawnee Saints.  Mineral Area started out of the gates quickly attaining a 25 point lead just 5 minutes into the game.  Every player on Mineral Area's roster scored for the home team as MAC got exactly half of their 88 points from non-starters.  Most importantly the Cardinals are now a perfect 3-0 in the conference. 

The women will get a break from action over the Thanksgiving break not playing again until December 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the Vincennes Classic.  MAC (5-3) is scheduled to play against Olney Central 6:00 eastern standard time on Thursday, December 3rd.

(11/22/10)  Cardinals defeat top ranked Kirkwood, Iowa in weekend tournament.

The Mineral Area women's basketball team participated in the Kirkwood, Iowa Classic this weekend scoring a big win on Friday.  Kirkwood has won the Division II National Championship the last 4 years in succession and was the #1 ranked team heading into Friday night's game with MAC.  The Cardinals were down two at halftime but completely dominated the 2nd half to cruise to a 69-56 win over the host team.  MAC was led in scoring by Rita Banaszczak who scored 19 points.  SLU transfer Devonna Smith also had a big night for Mineral Area with 17 points.  Hannah Vette had another good game with 15.

MAC was in action the following night playing against Des Moines Area Community College and fell by the score of 81-71.  Briannica Tye continued her blazing start to the season by scoring 33 points for the Lady Cards. 

MAC is now getting ready for a conference showdown with Shawnee Community College.  This game starts at 5:00 preceding the men's game.  Both of these games are MCCAC Conference matchups as Shawnee is the newest member of the conference.

(11/17/10)  MAC falls to #21 John A. Logan on the road.  The women's basketball team suffered a road loss last night at the hands of the #21 ranked John A. Logan Volunteers in Carterville, Illinois.  MAC was unable to keep up with John A. Logan's steady offensive attack, falling by the score of 81-62.  Briannica Tye had 14 points followed by Hannah Vette who had 9 for the Cardinals.

(11/15/10)  Cardinals play against #21 John A. Logan tomorrow at 7:00 P.M.   MAC will play a road game tomorrow night against the # 21 John A. Logan Volunteers.  The Lady Cards split the season series last year with Logan losing a one point heart breaker on the road to start the season last year.

MAC is off to a good start this season at 3-1 and is looking to gain some momentum heading into the Kirkwood, Iowa Classic this weekend up in Iowa.

(11/10/10)  Lady Cardinals pick up key MCCAC road victory.  The MAC women's basketball team went to Godfrey, Illinois last night and picked up an important conference win over Lewis and Clark.  The Cardinals were 9 of 20 from the 3-point line and had a very balanced overall scoring attack led by Briannica Tye's 13 points.  The 61-57 victory for MAC puts them at 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in the MCCAC conference race.  Mineral Area is now off until they play on November 19th against Kirkwood, Iowa as a part of the Kirkwood Classic.

(11/8/10) Women's basketball goes 1-1 at Jefferson College Classic.  The Mineral Area women's basketball team achieved a solid victory over Lincoln Trail on Saturday, winning by the score of 80-51.  MAC went on to play against  a good Wabash Valley team on Sunday, falling by the score of 58-48.   MAC is now 2-1 on the season. 

Local product Molly Barnes (Farmington) led the Cardinals in scoring on Saturday with 14 points.  Three other players (Rita Banaszczak 12, Hanna Vette 12, and Briannica Tye 10) scored in double figures for MAC.  

The Cardinals (2-1) will travel to Godfrey, Illinois on Tuesday for an important MCCAC Conference game against Lewis and Clark.

(11/4/10)  Cardinals open up with win behind 32 points from Briannica Tye. MAC sophomore Briannica Tye had a memorable 1st night for the Lady Cards scoring 32 points to go along with 6 points 5 steals and 3 blocked shots as Mineral Area cruised to a 81-53 victory on the road last night at Florissant Valley.  The Cardinals scored 50 points in the 2nd half to run a way with the MCCAC Conference victory.  Rita Banaszczak added 12 points.  MAC (1-0) will now play against Lincoln Trail on Saturday at Jefferson College.

(11/1/10)  Women's basketball season opens up Wednesday. 

MAC will open its season on Wednesday, November 3rd at Flo Valley in St. Louis at 5:30 in an MCCAC conference match-up.  Then, the Lady Cards travel to Jefferson also on Saturday and Sunday.  They play Lincoln Trail at 5:00 on Saturday following the volleyball championship, and they play at 4:00 on Sunday against Wabash Valley.   The Lady Cards’ first home game is a conference game against Shawnee on the 23rd.

(10/22/10) Women's scrimmage game canceled.  The women's basketball scrimmage against Columbia College at 4:15 today has been canceled.

(10/18/10)  Women's basketball season opens up in two weeks.  The Mineral Area women's basketball team will start their 2010-2011 season with a MCCAC conference game on November 3rd in St. Louis against Florissant Valley.  The game will be followed by the Men's game against the Norseman immediately after.  The women's game is at 5:30 and the men tip-off at 7:30.

(10/5/10)  Midnight Madness events scheduled for October 13th.  Next Wednesday night Mineral Area College will host its annual Midnight Madness events.  The night will start with a very important conference volleyball game.  The 20th ranked Lady Cardinals will take on perennial power Jefferson College starting at 6:30.  This game will most likely decide the MCCAC Conference Champion for 2010.  It is also "Dig Pink for the Fight Against Breast Cancer Night."

Midnight Madness will include a Slam Dunk Contest and a 3-Point Shooting Contest.  It will be your first chance to see the Men's and Women's teams.

At 9:00 there will be activities and prizes for the fans. A student will have a chance to win a tuition scholarship during the event.

(8/23/10)  Meet the Cardinals at Engler Park scheduled for September 9th.

Mineral Area College is inviting the community to come out and spend a few minutes meeting the athletes of all of our fine sports teams for the upcoming year.  Bring the kids out to meet the 2010-2011 Cardinals on Thursday evening, September 9, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Knight Pavilion in Engler Park, Farmington.  Coaches and athletes from men’s and women’s basketball, men’s baseball, women’s softball, men’s golf,  women’s volleyball, and the MAC Cheerleaders will be on hand.  The Coaches will be grilling up hotdogs and serving soft drinks while the athletes will host a variety of activities and games for the kids to play. 

(7/27/10)  Mineral Area women's basketball releases 2010-2011 roster.  The women's basketball team had a tremendous recruiting effort in the off-season bringing in 8 new players for the upcoming season and return a redshirt from last season. 

Kate Alemann a 6' 3" Freshman post player. She is from Auckland, New Zealand and went to high school at Ransito College.  She led her club team to a 2nd place finish nationally in New Zealand. Whitney McNeely a 5'4" Freshman pg from Jackson, MO. She went Jackson High School.

Devonna Smith a 5' 10" Sophomore transfer from Division I St. Louis University. She is from St. Louis and went to Kirkwood High School where she had a very sucessful career. She has had a knee injury at SLU and has recuperated fully and will join us for her Sophomore season.  She is the niece of current Athletic Director Tim Gray. 

Taylor Smith a 5'5" Freshman guard. Her home is Advance, MO. She played at Delta High School. Tierra Williams a 6'0" Freshman post player from Chicago, IL. High School: Curie Metro High School.  Victoria Williams a 6'0" Freshman post player from Poplar Bluff, MO High School Poplar Bluff High School

(5/3/10)  Head Coach Gary Koch announces 5 player signings for 2010-2011 season.  The Mineral Area Women's Basketball team has signed 5 players for the upcoming basketball season.  Taylor Smith out of Delta High School in Delta, Missouri. Victoria (Tory) Williams out of Poplar Bluff. Whitney McNeely from Jackson High School and Tierra Williams out of Curie High School in Chicago, IL.

Taylor Smith is a 5'5" guard from Delta High School in Delta, Missouri.  She had an outstanding season for Delta averaging 16.0 ppg, 4.8 apg, 4.5 spg, 3.8 rpg and 40 percent on 3-pointers. Taylor was 1st team All-District and 2nd team All-State.

Tory Williams is a very good player from the Poplar Bluff Mules program.  Williams is a 6'0" post player who brings immediate help to the Cardinals interior game. 

Whitney McNeely is a 5'4" guard who had a standout career for the Jackson Fighting Indians program in Southeast Missouri.

Tierra Williams is another 6'0" post player who starred for Curie High School in Chicago, Illinois. 

The Cardinals will return Rita Banaszczak (red shirt last year), Kassi Hovis (red shirt last year),Molly Barnes, Emily Brumitt, Sonya Milford, Kylie Oertel and Hanna Vette from last years squad. 

(3/3/10)  Women's season comes to an end in the Region XVI Tournament. The MAC Women lost a 70-62 overtime game last night at Moberly in the quarterfinals of the Region XVI Tournament. 

(3/1/10)  Head Coach Gary Koch announces dates for 2010 Summer Instructional Camp.  Mineral Area Women's Basketball will host a 2010 summer instructional camp for any aspiring basketball player that is entering the 5th grade and older.  The camps dates are set for Tuesday June 15th through Friday June 18th.

(3/1/10)  Cardinals fall to State Fair in last regular season game.  Women's basketball lost a close game to the State Fair Road Runners on Saturday night in Sedalia by the score of 62-58.  Leola Hubbard led MAC with 16 pts.  The Lady Cardinals will now turn their attention to the Region XVI Tournament this week. 

MAC will play Tuesday, March 2nd at Moberly at 7:00 P.M.  The winner will play #1 seed Jefferson College in Jefferson City on Friday. 


(2/26/10) MAC defeats Crowder in Region XVI road game.  The Mineral Area Women's Basketball team picked up a key Region XVI road victory last night in Crowder.  MAC went down to Neohso to defeat the lady Riders by the score of 82-78.  The Lady Cards will play their final regular season game on the road on Saturday at State Fair.  Game time is set for 5:30. 

(2/23/10)  Four players receive MCCAC All-Conference recognition. The MCCAC All-Conference teams have been announced for the 2009-2010 basketball season:

Karley Evans a 5'9" sophomore guard from Rock Port High School in Rock Port Missouri was named 1st Team All-Conference.  Karley has averaged 10.9 points per game while shooting an impressive 37.8% from 3-point range.

Karley is 98 for 113 from the free throw line shooting 87.5% for the year.  She also has averaged 5.9 assists 4.8 rebounds per game. 

Shelli Liverpool a 5'11 sophomore forward from Cleveland Heights High School in Cleveland Heights, Ohio was named to the MCCAC Honorable Mention Team.      Shelli has averaged 13.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

Leola Hubbard a 5'6" sophomore guard from Caruthersville High School in Caruthersville, MO has been named to the MCCAC Honorable Mention Team. Leola averaged 10.7 points while shooting 84.3% from the free throw line and 39.8 from 3-point range. 

Emily Brumitt a 5'9" freshman guard from Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri was named to the MCCAC Honorable Mention Team.  Emily averaged 7.6 points per game while going 46/110 from 3-point range for a 41.8 percentage.
