(6/6/11)  Former Cardinal helps lead team to NCAA Division II Championship.  Korey Domenick (Festus), who was a member of the 2009-2010 MAC Cardinal baseball team, helped lead West Florida to the NCAA Division II Championship this past weekend.  Korey played mostly first base for the Argos batting .274 and started 43 games.  West Florida had a dominant season.  They were 52-9 overall with a 34-2 record at home.  They play in the very tough Gulf South Conference and won the regular season title with a 17-3 record. 

(5/15/11)  Jim Gerwitz resigns as Head Baseball Coach.  The athletic department at Mineral Area College has announced the resignation of long time head baseball coach Jim Gerwitz. Coach Gerwitz was an All-Region XVI player while a member of the Cardinals in 1995.  Jim came back and served 5 years as an assistant coach before taking over in 2003-2004 as head coach.  He was the 2008 MCCAC Coach of the Year.  He just completed his 8th year as head coach and served a total of 13 years as a MAC coach.  The Cardinals are coming off one of their best seasons finishing as MCCAC runner-up.  MAC was 17-9 in Region XVI play and 31-18 overall.  Coach Gerwitz plans on staying on as an instructor in the Criminal Justice department at MAC. (5/12/11)  Two Cardinals named to All-Region Team.  Tanner Glore and Beau Harris were named to the 2011 NJCAA All-Region XVI Team. 

Tanner is a Freshman from Potosi, Missouri who had an outstanding offensive season while playing third base.  Beau is from Lebanon, Missouri and the Cardinals starting shortstop this season.

(5/12/11)  Baseball season ends in Region XVI Tournament.  The MAC baseball team fell to Three Rivers today 10-2 ending the Cardinals season.  Last night they fell to St. Charles 6-1.  MAC finishes their season 31-18.

(5/9/11) MAC earns #2 seed in upcoming Region XVI Tournament.  Baseball concluded its regular season by earning a road split at Meramec.  The Cardinals won the first game 9-4 before dropping the final game 4-3.  They finish their regular season with a 31-16 overall record.  They finished the MCCAC with a 13-7 record.  Thanks to its impressive 17-9 Region XVI record Mineral Area has earned the #2 seed in the 8 team tournament.  They will play the night game on Wednesday against #7 St. Charles at 7:00. Region XVI Tournament

(5/5/11) Jim Gerwitz releases summer camp information.  The MAC baseball team will host its annual summer baseball camp July 11th-15th.  The camp will go from 9:30-12:00 and will cost $65. Any questions should be directed to Jim Gerwitz head baseball coach at 573-518-2224.

(5/5/11)  Cardinals use good pitching to defeat Maple Woods.  MAC baseball won two more Region XVI games yesterday at Hal Loughary Field defeating the Maple Woods Monarchs 4-3 in the first game and 3-0 in the second.  The Cardinals improve to 15-7 in the Region XVI regular season.  Mineral Area now plays 6 consecutive conference games in the next four days.  MAC is in the race for the MCCAC regular season championship.  They play in order; Three Rivers today at home at 12:30; Shawnee tomorrow in Ulin, Illinois; and close out with Meramec in St. Louis on Monday which could possibly determine the conference champion.

(5/3/11)  Maple Woods game rescheduled to tomorrow.  The baseball team will play against Maple Woods tomorrow at 2:00 at home in a Region XVI contest.  The Shawnee game that was scheduled for tomorrow has been rescheduled to Friday in Ulin, Illinois at 1:00.

(5/2/11)  Cardinals pitchers dominate North Central.  The Mineral Area baseball team played a doubleheader at home on Saturday, defeating North Central 2-1, and 4-0 in two Region XVI games.  MAC got great pitching performances out of starters Dylan McEwin and Tim Vonder Haar.  McEwin threw a 2 hit shut-out in game 2 following Vonder Haar's 3 hitter in game 1.    MAC is now 26-13 and will play Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday doubleheaders starting with Maple Woods tomorrow at home at 1:00.

(4/18/11)  MAC wins two more against #23 Crowder, runs win streak to six. The Mineral Area baseball team is on quite a roll winning 9 of 10 after defeating Crowder twice yesterday. The Cardinals scored their two biggest wins of the year, winning the first game 6-4 and the second game 4-3.  Crowder was 15-3 in the Region XVI this year and 31-12 overall before dropping two to MAC.  They also made a trip to the NJCAA World Series last year.  Mineral Area has two conference doubleheaders this week against St. Charles, at home on Tuesday at 1:00, the second on the road at Shawnee on Thursday also a 1:00 start.MAC is 22-11 overall, 9-5 in the Region XVI and 8-4 in the MCCAC.

(4/15/11)  Cardinals pick up a pair of wins over Three Rivers.  The Mineral Area baseball team got two important Region wins down in Poplar Bluff yesterday.  The Cardinals are on a roll, winning 7 out of 8.  They are now 20-11 overall, 8-4 in the MCCAC and 7-5 in the Region XVI.  They play this Sunday at noon, against Crowder, at Hal Loughary Field.

(4/11/11)  Cardinals scheduled to play CMU JV tomorrow.  The MAC Cardinals will try and play a makeup game against Central Methodist tomorrow at Hal Loughary Field.  MAC is currently 16-11 on the season.

(4/8/11)  Cardinals get two big wins over Jefferson College.  The MAC baseball team got two significant home wins yesterday over one of their biggest rivals, the Jefferson College Vikings.  The Cards won the first game 6-3 and the second game 5-4 in 8 innings.  MAC (16-10) got a strong pitching performance in game 1 from righthander Bubba Bradshaw (Oakville).  Tim Vonder Haar (Rockwood Summit) and Dylan McEwin (Paris, TX) combined on the 2nd game victory.  Kyle Poynter (Houston, MO) got the game winning hit to complete the sweep of Jeffco (24-10).  Mineral Area is on the road this weekend against Southeastern Illinois.  The Saturday game is scheduled for a 1:00 start

.(4/4/11)  Mineral Area splits doubleheader with visiting Meramec.  The baseball team played a home doubleheader on Saturday against the Meramec Magic.  Mineral Area won the first game 5-4 before falling in the second game 5-2.  In the first game Tim Vonder Haar (Rockwood Summit) got the win. Beau Harris (Lebanon) hit a home run in the 2nd game.The Cardinals are scheduled to play a pair of home doubleheaders this week against Shawnee and Jefferson.

(3/29/11)  Game postponed against Three Rivers.  MAC will reschedule their game with Three Rivers for Saturday, April 22nd at home at 2:00.  Mineral Area is scheduled to play St. Charles on Thursday in St. Charles.

(3/25/11) Game postoponed against Meramec.  Mineral Area will reschedule their game with Meramec for May 7th at noon.  MAC's game with the Magic has been canceled due to the wet conditions.

(3/25/11)  MAC gains road split against North Central.  The Mineral Area men's baseball team went on the road yesterday traveling to Trenton, Missouri gaining a split with Region XVI rival the North Central Pirates.  MAC lost the first game 3-0 before bouncing back to win 7-1.  The Cardinals next 8 games are against both Region XVI and MCCAC teams starting with Meramec tomorrow on the road at noon.

(3/24/11)  Cardinals record biggest win of the season against Iowa Western.  The MAC baseball team played their first home game yesterday against one of nation's strongest programs.  Thanks in large part to a grand slam by Beau Harris (Lebanon) and two home runs by Dylan Mayes (Sedalia) MAC defeated the defending champs 11-10.  Tim Vonder Haar (Rockwood Summit) was the starter and Colby Stack (Bourbon) finished up with the game and earned the win.MAC (9-7) plays on the road today against North Central at 1:00.

(3/23/11)  MAC plays defending National Champion Iowa Western today The MAC Cardinals baseball team plays a home game against the defending NJCAA Champions Iowa Western Reivers (14-12) today at Hal Loughary Field at 2:00. MAC lost two games yesterday to Jefferson College (17-7) up in Hillsboro.  Jeffco won the first game 15-5, and the second game 9-8. 

(3/21/11) Cardinals return home from successful spring trip.  The MAC baseball team had one of their best spring trips in recent memory going 5-2 including two wins against Faulkner State who went to the NJCAA World Series last year.  Mineral Area will play two important MCCAC and NJCAA Region XVI games tomorrow against Jefferson College in Hillsboro.  Jeffco is the 23rd ranked team in the latest NJCAA Poll.

(3/15/11) MAC off to solid start on spring trip.  The Mineral Area men's baseball team won their first 3 games on their spring trip.  The Cardinals scored two big wins on Sunday against Faulkner State, before defeating Alabama Southern yesterday.  Faulkner State (8-12) made it to the NJCAA World Series last season.  MAC won game one by the score of 7-6 and won the second game 6-3. Yesterday, they defeated Alabama Southern (11-7) in a high scoring game 18-15.The Cardinals are off today before playing a pair with Bishop State out of Alabama tomorrow.

(3/11/11)  Cardinals split a pair with Williams Baptist.  The baseball team got two games in yesterday down in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas against Williams Baptist JV.  In the first game the Cardinals lost 13-12 but came back to win 5-3.  MAC leaves tonight for their annual spring trip.  They will play Faulkner State on Sunday the 13th at 1:00 in Bay Minette, Alabama.  Faulkner State qualified for the NJCAA world series last year in Grand Junction, Colorado.

(3/9/11) Mineral Area will play Williams Baptist JV tomorrow.  The Mineral Area baseball team will travel to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to play against Williams Baptist Junior Varsity tomorrow at 11:00 A.M.   The game scheduled for March 10th with Illinois Central was canceled. 

(3/7/11)  Make up dates for North Central released.  The baseball team had two doubleheaders canceled with North Central on Saturday and this upcoming Tuesday.  MAC will make up those games March 24th at North Central and April 30th at home.  The Cardinals are scheduled to play this Thursday at Illinois Central.

(3/2/11)  Cardinals gain split with John A. Logan Volunteers.  The baseball team played their second doubleheader on back-to-back days against a very good John A. Logan team out of Carterville, Illinois. MAC won the first game 6-3 behind a good pitching performance from Bubba Bradshaw (St. Louis, MO, Oakville).  The Cardinals dropped the second game 7-2 despite a solid effort from freshman pitcher Dylan McEwin (Paris, TX, Paris).  MAC (2-2) now plays the next four games against Region XVI North Central Missouri.  Both are doubleheaders and 1:00 starts on Saturday and Tuesday.  The Saturday game will be the home debut for the 2011 season.

(3/1/11) MAC pitchers have strong debut for 2011 season.  The Mineral Area baseball team officially started their season yesterday down in Searcy, Arkansas.  The Cardinals split a doubleheader with Harding University JV losing the first game 3-2 before bouncing back and winning a 9-0 decision in the nightcap.  Pitching was the story of the day for MAC.  Tyler Carter took the loss giving up three runs in four innings while striking out 8 and giving up two hits.

In game two Drew Greiwe, Ryan Brown, and Drew Tullos combined for a no- hitter. Greiwe threw five innings to get the win while striking out nine. Brown threw the 6th and Tullos the 7th. MAC is back in action today at John A. Logan in Carterville, Illinois.

(2/24/11)  Cardinals opener rained out.  The MAC baseball team had their game canceled today to start the season due to the rain.  They are also canceled on Saturday vs CMU.  There has not been a make up date announced for either day yet. 

(2/15/11)  Baseball season starts on the 24th of February.  The Mineral Area men's baseball team will officially get started on the road next Thursday against Kaskaskia college with 1:00 start.  The Cardinals will have two noon starts on Saturday and Monday against Central Methodist at home and Harding on the road.  The Saturday game is part of the college's annual Homecoming activities.

(12/7/10)  Jim Gerwitz announces 2011 schedule.  MAC Head Baseball Coach Jim Gerwitz has released the Spring 2011 schedule.  The Cardinals will once again travel south to Pensacola, Florida for their spring trip.  Some of the feature games this year include a single 9 inning home game against defending National Champion Iowa Western on March 23rd.  They play Faulkner State, who made it to the NJCAA World Series last season, on March 13th in Bay Minette, Alabama.  They play the defending Region XVI Champions Crowder Roughriders at home, on April 17th.  They play the defending MCCAC Conference Champion Jefferson College Vikings at home on April 7th. 

(10/18/10)  Chad Mills hired as new Athletic Director.  Mineral Area has named former MAC basketball player and assistant coach Chad Mills as the new Athletic Director effective July 1, 2011.

(10/11/10)  Men's fall season coming to a close. 

Men’s baseball is finishing the fall season strong by going 2-1-1 against strong Region 16 opponents over the weekend.  They defeated Three Rivers and North Central, tied with Meramec, and lost 2-1 to a highly ranked Jefferson team.  They will be in action on Saturday the 16th against B.C. Academy at home at 1:00.

(9/21/10)  Two chances to see Cardinals in action this week.  The Mineral Area baseball team will play two home games this week at Hal Loughary Field.  On Thursday, MAC will take on conference rival Meramec at 1:00 in a scrimmage game.  On Saturday, the Cardinals will play 21 innings against NCAA Division II Missouri S&T out Rolla, starting at 10:00 A.M.9/22/10  The HOME Baseball game that was scheduled for today has been canceled due to the wet field.

(9/14/10)  MAC plays Jefferson tomorrow in Hillsboro.The Cardinals will travel for their second set of games tomorrow when they face the Jefferson College Vikings.  The Cardinals got the 2010-11 campaign off to a good start down in Memphis last weekend.  Tomorrow's game time is set for 3:00 P.M.

(8/23/10)  Meet the Cardinals at Engler Park scheduled for September 9th.

Mineral Area College is inviting the community to come out and spend a few minutes meeting the athletes of all of our fine sports teams for the upcoming year.  Bring the kids out to meet the 2010-2011 Cardinals on Thursday evening, September 9, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Knight Pavilion in Engler Park, Farmington.  Coaches and athletes from men’s and women’s basketball, men’s baseball, women’s softball, men’s golf,  women’s volleyball, and the MAC Cheerleaders will be on hand.  The Coaches will be grilling up hotdogs and serving soft drinks while the athletes will host a variety of activities and games for the kids to play. 

(7/13/10)  Three more Cardinals move on to play at NCAA schools.  The Mineral Area baseball team has had three of their players from last year's team sign letters of inent at four year schools.  Local product Adam Blum (Farmington) will continue his career at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.  Joining him will be Clint Cashen (Corbin, KY).  The third signee is Mike Bigogno (Eureka, MO).  Bigogno has agreed to play for Drury University out of Springfield, MO which competes in the Great Lakes ValleyConference.  Drury has had a baseball program for four years, achieving a winning record in each of those years. They were the 2007 GLVC Tournament Champions in their inaugural season.

(6/2/10)  Two MAC Sophomores sign to play at NCAA Division II schools.  Two MAC Cardinals have signed letter of intents to continue their careers next year.  Korey Domenick a sophomore from Festus, Missouri will play for the West Florida Argos out of Pensacola, Florida.  West Florida competes in the very competitive NCAA Division II Gulf South Conference.  They were 36-20 this past season.  Nick Cox will continue his career in his home state at Southern Arkansas University.  Southern Arkansas is also in the Gulf South Conference and were conference champions this spring with an impressive 47-10 mark.  The Muleriders had their fifth consecutive 40-plus win season, earning their second regional championship game appearance. SAU has advanced to five NCAA regional tournaments, including three consecutive.
