(4/28/11) Corey Tate releases summer basketball camp information. Mineral Area College will host the Mineral Area Basketball Academy this summer from July 18th-21st, 2011. It is for boys and girls ages 2nd through 12th grade and will go all week.

(4/12/11) Sophomore Demetrius Harris signs with Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Mineral Area sophomore Demetrius Harris has agreed to continue his college basketball career at Division I Wisconsin-Milwaukee. UWM was 19-14 this season including two wins over the national runner-up Butler Bulldogs.
Coach Rob Jeter was the Horizon conference coach of the year and has been nominated for several national coach of the year awards this season. He has compiled a 101-89 record in his career, including a berth in the NCAA second round in 2006. Jeter is a former assisant of Bo Ryan, the head coach of the Univerisity of Wisconsin.
Harris had an outstanding season for the Cardinals averaging 11.7 points per game and 7.8 rebounds. He is originally from Jacksonville, Arkansas.
(3/2/11) Two Cardinals gain honors for 2011 season. Demetrius Harris and Josh Minner gained notice this past week on MCCAC All-Conference and NJCAA Region XVI teams. Demetrius Harris a 6'7" sophomore forward from Jacksonville, Arkansas was named to the 2011 Region XVI team. Lonny Hayes from MSU-West Plains was the Region XVI Player of the Year.
Demetrius was also named to the MCCAC All-Conference team along with teammate Josh Minnner. Josh is a 6'6" sophomore forward from New Madrid County High School in New Madrid, MO.
(3/2/11) Mens basketball season concludes in Region XVI Tournament. The Mineral Area men's basketball team lost to Three Rivers last night in Poplar Bluff in the first round of the NJCAA Region XVI Tournament. This loss ends the Cardinals season.
(2/28/11) Cardinals fall to State Fair on Homecoming. The Mineral Area men's basketball team dropped their final regular season game to State Fair on Saturday night at the Bob Sechrest Field House. MAC played the Roadrunners close losing 78-73 as a part of the college's annual Homecoming festivities.
Next, the Cardinals play in the all-important Region XVI Tournament. MAC travels to Poplar Bluff to take on rival Three Rivers on Tuesday night at 7:00 P.M.
(2/23/11) MAC takes #1 ranked West Plains down to the wire in West Plains.
Mineral Area basketball lost a close game last night on the road to the West Plains Grizzlies. West Plains is currently the #1 ranked team in the latest NJCAA Division 1 poll. After being down by 14 points in the 2nd half the Cardinals stormed back and had a shot to tie in the last 30 seconds but couldn't convert. West Plains won the game 67-64.
MAC has a key game against State Fair on Saturday as a part of Homecoming. If Mineral Area wins this game they will host Three Rivers in the first round of the Region XVI Tournament.
(2/22/11) Cardinals defeat Three Rivers in Poplar Bluff. Mineral Area got a signature win Saturday night traveling to Three Rivers and getting a 62-58 victory. Mineral Area needs to win one of the final two region games in order to get the #4 seed. The Cardinals go on the road tonight to play the number 1 team in the country in West Plains. They play Saturday at home against State Fair for the college's annual Homecoming. With a win in either one of these two games Mineral Area will host the #5 seed at MAC on Tuesday, March 1st at 7:00 P.M.
(2/17/11) Men's basketball wins big over MCCAC over Forest Park.
The Mineral Area men's basketball team ran their way to a convincing win over MCCAC conference rival Forest Park. The Cardinals scored 117 points on their way to the 117-72 win. MAC will now play on the road against Three Rivers on Saturday at 7:00.

(2/15/11) Cardinals regular season coming to a close. The Mineral Area men's basketball team has 4 regular season games left on their schedule starting tomorrow night with a home game against Forest Park at home at 7:30.
They play on the road against Three Rivers on Saturday at 7:00. Then, they play a very good West Plains team on the road on Tuesday the 22nd. The West Plains Grizzlies are currently the #1 ranked team in the country according to the most recent NJCAA Poll.
They play at home Saturday the 24th as a part of the college's annual Homecoming activities against State Fair starting at 7:00.
(1/26/11) Cardinals get impressive win over Southeastern Iowa. The men's basketball team got a non-conference win last night over the 14th ranked team in the nation. MAC won the game won the game 66-59. Darrion Hooker a freshman point guard out of Washington D.C. once again led the Cardinals with 20 points. Sophomore Demetrius Harris Jacksonville, AR (Jacksonville) added 16. The Blackhawks (19-6) have one of the most successful junior college basketball programs in the country having won 3 national titles.
MAC (9-13) has two solid wins in the last 4 days and appear to be benefiting from one of the toughest schedules in the nation. They face one of their stronger tests this season when they head to 17-4 State Fair on Saturday.

(1/24/11) Late free throws helps Cardinals to Region win over Moberly. The MAC basketball team got an important Region XVI win over the visiting Moberly on Saturday night at the Bob Sechrest Field House. Mineral Area made all 7 of their attempted free throws in the final two minutes to preserve a 65-59 victory over the visiting Greyhounds.
MAC (8-13) got good shooting from Darrion Hooker a freshman point guard out of Washington D.C. Hooker led both the Cardinals and all scorers with 17 points. The Cardinals play a very good Southeastern Iowa team tomorrow tonight at 7:00 at home. Southeastern (19-5) is ranked 14th in the latest NJCAA poll.

(1/17/11) Cardinals suffer overtime loss to #5 West Plains. The Men's basketball team played one of the top teams in the Region XVI and one of the top ranked teams in the country Saturday night at home. MAC played well and pushed them into overtime but ultimately lost the game 72-77. Brier West a Freshman from Soldan (St. Louis) led the Cardinals with 22 points.
Mineral Area is in the midst of one of the toughest schedules in the nation and it will continue with a road game at Meramec on Wednesday in St. Louis. They will then play Moberly for another Saturday night Region XVI contest at the Bob Sechrest Field House.

(1/5/11) After going 1-2 out West MAC gets set for home showdown with Three Rivers. The Men's basketball team has just returned from Mesa, Arizona. They went 1-2 during the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout. The won against Lethbridge Community College out of Alberta, Candada in between losses to Westwind and Central Wyoming.
Mineral Area (7-9) now gets ready for a MCCAC and Region XVI rivalry game against Three Rivers. Three Rivers is 13-3 on the season. MAC and Three Rivers split home and away last year. The game is set for 7:00 on Saturday at the Bob Sechrest Field House.
(12/5/10) Cardinals grab home win over Southwestern Illinois. The men's basketball team got a solid home victory over Southwestern Illinois College at the Bob Sechrest Field House on Saturday night. MAC won the game by the score of 71-61. SWIC was the preseason #20 ranked team in the NJCAA rankings.
MAC (5-7) now takes part in the annual Rotary Shootout at the Bob Sechrest Field House on Saturday night. They will play the feature game at 7:00 against Kennedy King College. Then, the Cardinals go out west over the holiday break to participate in the very competetive Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout in Mesa, Arizona. This tournament consists of some of the top programs in the country including last seasons National Champion Howard Community Hawks College out of Texas and the 2008-2009 National Champion Salt Lake Community College Bruins out of Utah. Mineral Area will open with Westwind on December 31st at 8:00 P.M.
(11/24/10) MAC loses MCCAC conference game to Shawnee Saints. The Mineral Area men's basketball team dropped a home conference game to Shawnee out of Ulin, Illinois last night by the score of 72-66. MAC (4-5) had a nice night from Demetrius Harris who had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Shawnee (5-1) went on a 10-0 run in the 1st half and despite the Cardinals closing it to two at 61-59, the Saints never gave up the lead on the way to their 6 point victory.
MAC now heads to Burlington, Iowa over the Thanksgiving break to play against SE Iowa and Tyler, Texas as a part of the Southeastern Iowa Classic.

(11/22/10) Cardinals lose both games in Bob Sechrest Classic. The Mineral Area men's basketball team had a tough assignment this weekend going against two of the better teams in the nation in Wabash Valley and Indian Hills. The Cardinals unfortunately dropped both games losing to #15 Wabash Valley 68-64 then falling to #11 Indian Hills 58-44. MAC was up 6 with 6 minutes left to go but Wabash Valley rallied to win by 4. Riley Raulston was the leading scorer for MAC on Friday with 19.
On Saturday, Mineral Area went up against a very physical and tough Indian Hills team. Indian Hills defense clamped down on the Cardinals as they only allowed 22 points in each half.
MAC now hopes to bounce back in a conference game against Shawnee on Tuesday night at home. The game is a part of a MCCAC doubleheader with the women's game starting at 5:00. Both the women's and men's games are at the Bob Sechrest Field House.

(11/17/10) Former Cardinal Carlton Guyton plays as a part of ESPN Tip Off Marathon. ESPN has created a College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon, which began at midnight on Monday and didn't end until more than 25 hours of basketball had been played. 21 games were featured (20 men’s games and a No. 1 vs. No. 2 women’s matchup) on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3.com and ESPN Mobile.
Former Mineral Area guard Carlton Guyton plays for the Kent State Golden Flash and played in the Kent State -Robert Morris game on ESPN. Guyton played 37 minutes and scored 7 points in Kent State's 62-59 win.
(11/15/10) 3rd annual Bob Sechrest Classic is this weekend. The Bob Sechrest Classic will take place this coming weekend on campus at Mineral Area College. This is your first chance to see the men's basketball team in action at home. This year, the tournament is stronger than ever with three ranked teams coming to town (#14 Indian Hills, # 23 Three Rivers, #35 Wabash Valley). MAC will be the late game both Friday and Saturday night starting at 7:00.

(11/15/10) Cardinals go 1-1 in Vincennes Classic over the weekend. Mineral Area basketball got a strong win Friday night against the 20th ranked team in the country on their floor, defeating Vincennes by the score of 64-47. MAC played the early game on Saturday against Olney Community College out of Illinois and fell 66-61 thanks to a good shooting night by the Blue Knights. MAC is now 4-2 on the season.
(11/8/10) MAC basketball has the toughest schedule in the nation. The Mineral Area men's basketball team will play the toughest schedule of any junior college team in the country according to JUCO Classic News Report. Here is an excerpt from their recent report:
(11/1/2010)_ -- Mineral Area claims the toughest schedule to open the 2010-2011 campaign with 14 upcoming opponents who were ranked or received votes in the NJCAA Division I pre-season poll. Besides facing Region 16 foes #10 Missouri State/West Plains, #18 Moberly Area, and #23 Three Rivers, twice during the season, the Cardinals will also meet #20 Vincennes (twice) and #14 Indian Hills (once) and #26 Southwestern Illinois (twice). MAC will also oppose three teams that received votes: Wabash Valley (once), Tyler (once) and Southeastern Iowa (twice).

(11/8/10) Men's basketball wins two games in Tip-off Classic. The MAC men's basketball team traveled down to Poplar Bluff this weekend to gain two big wins over Bevill State and Arkansas Baptist. Sophomore Demtrius Harris had a double-double, recording 25 points to go along with 10 rebounds in the Friday night 77-68 win over Bevill State. MAC was right back in action on Saturday night against Arkansas Baptist. MAC put together its strongest effort of the season winning 85-65.
The Cardinals are now 2-1 on the season and will travel to Godfrey, Illinois on Tuesday to try an get an MCCAC win against Lewis and Clark. The game is set to start at 7:30 or immediately after the women's game concludes.

(11/1/10) Basketball season starts this week with MCCAC Conference game.
The Men's basketball team opens the Cardinals season on Wednesday November 3rd at Florrisant Valley as a part of a MCCAC doubleheader. Gametime is 7:30. Then, on Friday, the Cards are in Poplar Bluff taking on Bevill State (AL) at 5:00 on campus at Three Rivers. Then, they are back in action on Saturday against Arkansas Baptist also at 5:00 at Three Rivers. The Cards home opener may be the best two day classic in school history with the Bob Sechrest Classic on the 19th and 20th of November. All of our guests have won multiple national championships as #18 Indian Hills, #35 Wabash Valley, and #23 Three Rivers hit town for that weekend.
(10/18/10) Men's basketball season begins in two weeks. The Mineral Area men's basketball team will officially start their season with a MCCAC conference game against Florissant Valley up in St. Louis on November 3rd. The Cardinals are coming off a 20 win season against one of the toughest schedules in the country. The Men will be preceded by the women at 5:30. Scheduled tip-off for the men's game is 7:30.
(10/18/10) Chad Mills hired as new Athletic Director. Mineral Area has named former MAC basketball player and assistant coach Chad Mills as the new Athletic Director effective July 1, 2011.

(10/5/10) Midnight Madness events scheduled for October 13th. Next Wednesday night Mineral Area College will host its annual Midnight Madness events. The night will start with a very important conference volleyball game. The 20th ranked Lady Cardinals will take on perennial power Jefferson College starting at 6:30. This game will most likely decide the MCCAC Conference Champion for 2010. It is also "Dig Pink for the Fight Against Breast Cancer Night."
Midnight Madness will include a Slam Dunk Contest and a 3-Point Shooting Contest. It will be your first chance to see the Men's and Women's teams.
At 9:00 there will be activities and prizes for the fans. A student will have a chance to win a tuition scholarship during the event.
(8/23/10) Meet the Cardinals at Engler Park scheduled for September 9th.
Mineral Area College is inviting the community to come out and spend a few minutes meeting the athletes of all of our fine sports teams for the upcoming year. Bring the kids out to meet the 2010-2011 Cardinals on Thursday evening, September 9, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Knight Pavilion in Engler Park, Farmington. Coaches and athletes from men’s and women’s basketball, men’s baseball, women’s softball, men’s golf, women’s volleyball, and the MAC Cheerleaders will be on hand. The Coaches will be grilling up hotdogs and serving soft drinks while the athletes will host a variety of activities and games for the kids to play.
(8/19/10) Former MAC player and assistant coach Sean Pryor lands Division I coaching job at Chicago State University. Sean Pryor has joined Head Coach Tracy Dildy has part of Chicago State's new coaching staff for the 2010-2011 season. Chicago State is a NCAA Division I school that competes in the Great West Conference.

(8/18/10) Mineral Area basketball team will take part in the Mesa Thunderbird Shootout. The men's basketball team will travel out to Phoenix, Arizona over Christmas break to take part in the highly respected Mesa Thunderbird Shooutout. The Cardinals will open up against West Wind Prep on December 31st at 8:00 P.M. Other participating schools include 2009 National Champion Salt Lake Community College and 2010 National Champion Howard Community College out of Texas.
(8/16/10) Former MAC point guard Dontavis Jones has joined coaching staff. Dontavis Jones, a former point guard for the Mineral Area basketball team has agreed to come on on as the assistant basketball coach for the Cardinals. Dontavis was a part of the 2005-06 Conference and Region XVI Championship teams. He continued his career at Henderson State University where he was a member of the All-Academic Team. Dontavis is a graduate of Kennett High School in Kennett, Missouri.
