(2/22/10)  Women's Basketball defeats Three Rivers on Homecoming Night.   The Mineral Area Women's basketball team notched a MCCAC and Region XVI victory over Three Rivers on Saturday.  The Cardinals continued their recent history of stellar free-throw shooting, making 16 straight and 25 of 29 to help lead to the 69-58 victory. 

Shelli Liverpool led the Cardinals with 18 points in front of the large crowd at the Bob Sechrest Field House.  Chelsey Johnson led Three Rivers and all scoring with 21.  MAC will now play two more Region XVI road games to conclude their regular season.  The first being at Crowder on Thursday night at 6:00 P.M.

(2/17/10) Women's Basketball plays two MCCAC Conference games this week.  They will play a conference game on Wednesday against Forest Park in St. Louis.  Their start time is scheduled for 5:00 P.M.  On Saturday, the Cardinals will play the first game of the doubleheader against Three Rivers as a part of the Homecoming Activities.  MAC (17-9) defeated Three Rivers by the score of 74-63 earlier in the season. 

(2/12/10)  Women lose Region XVI game in Iowa.  The MAC Lady Cards lost a 1 point game to Region XVI rival Iowa Western last night in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  The Cardinals Hanna Vette had 18 points and Leola Hubbard scored 15 points with 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough, as Iowa Western won the game by the score of 72-71.  Mineral Area (17-8) will now play another Region XVI road game at Moberly on Saturday at 5:00 P.M.

(2/9/10)  Lady Cards hit the road for two Region XVI games. The Mineral Women's Basketball team will travel to Council Bluffs, Iowa to play Iowa Western Thursday at 7:00 P.M. in a Region XVI contest. The Cardinals will stay on the road and play Moberly on Saturday at 5:00 P.M. The Cardinals are 17-7 overall and 4-3 in the Region XVI. 

(2/8/10)  Women drop home game to 25th ranked Vincennes. Women's Basketball lost a home game to a tough opponent on Saturday afternoon by the score of 82-72.  Vincennes, (Indiana) has been highly ranked throughout the season and is currently the 25th ranked team in the latest NJCAA Poll. The win avenged an earlier loss as Mineral Area had defeated them in Indiana by the score of 87-77.

The Cardinals made a run late, pulling within three points at 69-66, but 3 consecutive baskets by Deanna Thompson allowed the Trailblazer's (18-4) to pull away with the victory. Sonya Milford and Karley Evans each had 14 points to lead the Cardinals. Mineral Area (17-7) will now travel to Iowa Western for a Region XVI road game on Thursday.

(2/1/10)  Lady Cardinals drop home game to 13th ranked State Fair. Women's Basketball lost a home game on Saturday night to State Fair (20-2) out of Sedalia, MO.  The Cardinals played even with the Roadrunners in the 1st half but they ultimately fell too far behind late to drop the Region XVI game 76-63.  Mineral Area (17-5) will play Vincennes on Saturday at home at 2:00 P.M.

(1/29/10) Jefferson College stops Lady Cards win streak.  The Mineral Area women lost last night to a very good Jefferson College team by the score of 85-64.  MAC had won 5 in a row and 12 out of 13 but couldn't get the home victory against the 2nd ranked Vikings (19-1).  Shelli Liverpool led the Cardinals (17-5) with 19 points.   MAC will look to rebound with a victory on Saturday against State Fair at 5:00 at the Bob Sechrest Field House.

(1/25/10)  Good shooting helps Lady Cards to another victory. Mineral Area shot 67% from the floor and 28 from 32 from the free throw line to gain an important Region XVI home win over the Moberly Greyhounds 93-85 on Saturday night.  The Cardinals were down at halftime but exploded for 60 points in the 2nd half to run their Region XVI record to 4-1.  MAC had 5 scorer's in double figures led by Karley Evans with 20 points and 8 assists.  Mineral Area (17-4) will now play Thursday at home against Jefferson College.

(1/22/10)  Lady Cards defeat Iowa Western in dramatic fashion. With the Cardinals down by 2 points, Leola Hubbard buried a three pointer with 3.4 seconds left to defeat Iowa Western (13-7) last night by the score of 57-56.  The game was close throughout as the Cardinals led by two at halftime.  Iowa Western is now a part of the Region XVI and the win improved the Cardinals to 3-1 in Region play.  Shelli Liverpool led MAC (16-4) with 15 points.  Mineral Area will next host Moberly, Saturday at 5:00 P.M.

(1/19/10)  Women's basketball records Region XVI road win.   The Mineral Area Women's basketball team got a key Region XVI victory over Crowder on Saturday night.  The Cardinals were once again led by Shelli Liverpool who scored 22 points.  Kylie Oertel had 15 and Leola Hubbard had 8 points and 9 assists.  Vivian Essuon also had 6 points and 10 rebounds in the 85-75 win.

MAC (15-4) will now play Iowa Western Thursday at home at 7:00 P.M.

(1/14/10)  Lady Cards hold on for 70-63 victory. The Mineral Area Women's basketball team got a conference home win on Wednesday night against Florissant Valley.  The Cardinals led throughout most of the game but had to hold off a furious rally by the Fury where they cut the lead to 3 points with 30 seconds left. MAC was led by Leola Hubbard and Kylie Oertel who scored 18 and 12 points to lead the Cards.  Mineral Area (14-4) will be in action next at home against Crowder at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday.

(1/11/10)  Women’s basketball lost a tough 72-68 game to #3 Jefferson on the road in Hillsboro last Wednesday.  The Lady Cards gave them quite a scare, leading by 8 with 8 minutes to go, but they could not hold on.  Then, they rebounded to defeat Three Rivers in Poplar Bluff 74-63 on Saturday.  The Cardinals will be in action on Wednesday against MCCAC foe Florissant Valley at home at 5:30.

(1/04/10)  Women's basketball plays conference rival Jefferson College on Thursday night.  The Mineral Area women's basketball team plays a key MCCAC Conference and Region XVI contest on Thursday night in Hillsboro at 7:00 P.M.  The Cardinals (12-3) have won 7 games in a row and 10 out of their last 11.  Jefferson is 12-1 and ranked 3rd in the latest NJCAA Poll.

(12/9/09)  Mineral Area Women receive votes in latest NJCAA Poll. The MAC women's basketball team has gotten off to an impressive start.  Impressive enough to be mentioned in the December 8th NJCAA National Poll of Division I Women's basketball teams.  The Cardinals are 8-3 thus far against stiff competition.  They have won 6 of their last 7 with the only loss coming on the road to a ranked Cloud County, Kansas team.  MAC is one of 7 schools who received votes who are not ranked inside the top 25.

(12/9/09)  The Rotary Shootout takes place this weekend at the Bob Sechrest Field House. The long standing tradition of the Rotary Shootout will take place on Saturday at MAC.   It is a charity event that benefits the Rotary Club at a $5 cost to attend all 5 games.  The schedule is as follows:

(12/07/09)  MAC Women have big weekend in Indiana. The Mineral Area Women's Basketball team had a very successful trip this weekend scoring successive wins over Olney Central, #10 Vincennes, and Southeastern IL in the Vincennes Classic.  The Cardinals are now 8-3 on the season and will be in action on Saturday against John A. Logan as a part of the Rotary Shootout at MAC.

(11/30/09) Lady Cards split two games out in Kansas.  The Cardinals Women's Basketball team played two games out in Cloud County Kansas this weekend going 1-1.  MAC defeated Colby Community College 86-47 on Friday.  The Lady Cards had 5 players in double figures with Shelli Liverpool leading the way with 19 points and Leola Hubbard had 15. 

MAC had a much more difficult assignment Saturday playing host and # 27 ranked Cloud County (10-1).  They fell behind 30-20 at halftime and could not close the gap at the end as the Thunderbirds came away with a 67-61 victory.

Shelli Liverpool led the Cardinals again with 16 points while Taylor Jensen had 13.

The Cardinals (5-3) will now travel to Indiana later this week to play three games in the Vincennes Classic.

(11/23/09)  Cardinals win two games at Kirkwood, Iowa Classic. The Mineral Area Women's Basketball team won both their games this weekend defeating John Wood 84-62 on Friday. Karley Evans led the Cardinals with 21 points while
Shelli Liverpool added 17.  Taylor Jensen had 14 points and Leola Hubbard 13.

The Cardinals (4-2) came back on Saturday and won a close game over Parkland 63-61.  Leola Hubbard led MAC with 16 points. 

The Lady Cardinals are back on the road this weekend as they travel to Concordia, KS to play in the Cloud County Classic over the Thanksgiving weekend.  They play the host, #23 Cloud County, at 6:00 on Friday and Colby (KS) CC at 2:00 on Saturday.

(11/19/09)  Lady Cardinals drop MCCAC Contest to Lewis and Clark. The Women's basketball team lost to an undefeated Lewis & Clark team last night at the Bob Sechrest Field House.  MAC was up 32-21 at the half but the Trailblazers of Lewis & Clark came back to outscore the Cardinals 48-28 in the 2nd half to come away with the 69-60 conference victory. 

The Cardinals (2-2) are on the road this weekend to participate in the Kirkwood, Iowa Classic.

(11/11/09) MAC Women come from behind to defeat SWIC.  The Lady Cardinals outscored Southwestern Illinois College 21-4 to start the 2nd half en route to a 47-45 home win Tuesday night at the Bob Sechrest Field House.  In a game of runs, the Cardinals were at separate times down 9 points, and 7 at half time, before taking a 13 point lead in the 2nd half.  SWIC went on a 12-1 run of their own to end the game, but it wasn't enough as MAC (2-1) recorded their 2nd consecutive home victory.  

The Cardinals are now off until next Wednesday when they take on Lewis and Clark at home starting at 5:30.

(11/9/09)  Lady Cards win home opener.  The Women's basketball team was in action on Saturday at the Bob Sechrest Field House and came away with a 72-65 victory over Olney Central (0-2). Shelli Liverpool had 14 points and 13 rebounds while Karley Evans added 11 points with 5 assists.  Gail Williams had 8 points in the second half to spark the Cardinals, who at one time led 70-56.  Mineral Area (1-1) will play Tuesday night at 5:30 against Southwestern Illinois as a part of a doubleheader with the Men at the Bob Sechrest Field House.

(11/5/09)  Women's Basketball starts season with 1 point loss.  The MAC Women's basketball team narrowly lost their season opener last night in Carterville, IL.  The Cardinals shot 24 of 29 from the line to keep the game close but John A. Logan hit the biggest free throw of the game with no time remaining to claim a 72-71 victory.  Mineral Area (0-1) got balanced scoring with 5 players in double figures.  Sonya Milford had 13 points and Taylor Jensen had 12 with 5 steals.  Kylie Oertel added 11, while Shelley Liverpool and Karley Evans chipped with 10 each. 

The Cardinals will now play 3 consecutive home games starting with Olney Central on Saturday at 2:00 at the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse.

(10/23/09)  Lady Cards start regular season on the road. Women's basketball opens the regular season at John A. Logan on Wed. Nov 4 at 7:00 in Carterville, IL. The home opener for the Lady Cards is Nov. 7 at 2:00 pm against Olney Central at the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse.

(10/12/09)  Midnight Madness will take place Thursday, October 22nd.

Midnight Madness 2009 will take place at the Bob Sechrest Fieldhouse starting immediately after the Women's volleyball game with West Plains at 6:30.  The introduction of both the Men's and Women's Basketball team's will start at 8:15. Midnight Madness will include a Slam Dunk Contest and a 3-Point Shooting Contest.  At 9:00 there will be activities and prizes for the fans. Click here for flyer...

(10/12/09) Lady Cards first home Pre-Season contest on October 21st.  Your first chance to see the MAC Women's Basketball team at home is Wednesday October 21st against Mckendree at 6:00 P.M.

(10/5/09)  MAC Women's Basketball opens up their Pre-Season Schedule this week. The Lady Cards travel to Warrensburg on Sunday for the CMU Jamboree to open their preseason schedule.

(9/25/09) Head Coach Gary Koch announces 2009-10 roster for the Mineral Area's Women's Basketball Cardinals.  MAC will have four returning sophomores from last year's 22-10 team.  Kayla Tisza (5'9" G), Mother McAuley (Chicago, IL), Leola Hubbard, (5'5" G) Caruthersville (MO), Karley Evans (5'9" G) from Rock Port (MO) and Lakia White (5'8" F) St. Louis, MO (Miller's Career Academy). These four players were a big reason the Cards made it to the Region XVI Championship game. 

They have 11 newcomers to the 2009-2010 edition including Hanna Vette, a Missouri All-State performer from Rock Port High School, Vivian Essuon a 6'1 Post player from Brampton, Ontario.  Two local standouts in All-Staters Molly Barnes and Taylor Jensen from Farmington High School.  Shelbee Cowart, a standout PG from Laquey High School.  Other newcomers include Gail Williams, (Arcadia Valley), Emily Brummitt, (Cape Notre Dame),  Rita Banaszczak (Warsaw, Poland).  Shelli Liverpool (Cleveland Heights, OH), Sonya Milford (Sacred Heart College) originally from Wellington, New Zealand and Kylie Oertel a local standout from Fredericktown High School. 

(9/2/09) Head Coach Gary Koch releases 2009-2010 schedule.  The Lady Cardinals will open up on November 4th against John A. Logan in Carterville, IL. They will then play three consecutive home games against Olney Central (11/7), Southwestern Illinois (11/10), and Lewis and Clark (11/18).

Mineral Area College Women's Basketball Camp June 16-19 (2009).  The Mineral Area College Women's Basketball staff will be conducting a four-day summer instructional camp. Gary Koch's Instructional Basketball Camp is scheduled for June 16-19 (Tue-Fri) at Mineral Area College.  The Camp is for boys & girls and will concentrate on shooting, ball handling, passing, footwork, and strategy.  There are three sessions: 9:00am-10:30am for 5th & 6th grades ($40), 11:00am-1:00pm for 7th & 8th grades ($50), and 2:00pm-4:00pm for 9th -12th graders ($50)  Information and Questions, please call (573) 518-2259.  Download Camp Flyer   gkoch@mineralarea.edu
