(6/2/10)  Two MAC Sophomores sign to play at NCAA Division II schools.  Two MAC Cardinals have signed letter of intents to continue their careers next year.  Korey Domenick a sophomore from Festus, Missouri will play for the West Florida Argos out of Pensacola, Florida.  West Florida competes in the very competitive NCAA Division II Gulf South Conference.  They were 36-20 this past season. 

Nick Cox will continue his career in his home state at Southern Arkansas University.  Southern Arkansas is also in the Gulf South Conference and were conference champions this spring with an impressive 47-10 mark.  The Muleriders had their fifth consecutive 40-plus win season, earning their second regional championship game appearance. SAU has advanced to five NCAA regional tournaments, including three consecutive.

(5/18/10) Baseball season ends in Region XVI Tournament.  The Cardinals went 2-2 in the Region XVI Tournament.  They lost the first game 9-8 to Maple Woods came back and won two games over North Central Missouri College and then Meramec by the scores of 13-4 and 3-2.   Maple Woods however came back to eliminate the Cardinals in the loser's bracket 10-5 to end their season.  Crowder ended up winning the Region XVI Title.

(5/10/10)  Region XVI Tournament information is now set.  The MAC Baseball team will be the #6 seed in the upcoming Region XVI Tournament.  They will play #3 Maplewoods Community College May 12th at 1:00 P.M. at the Joplin Sports Complex.  Below is both the tournament bracket and also some tournament information.

(5/10/10) Head Coach Jim Gerwitz announces open tryout dates for prospective athletes.  The Mineral Area Baseball team will have an open tryout for anyone who wants to be a MAC Cardinal next year.  The pro-style tryout will take place at Hal Loughary Field on the main campus on Friday May 28th at 9:00 A.M.

(5/5/10)  Cardinals get impressive non-conference win. The MAC Baseball team beat a very good John A. Logan team yesterday at Hal Loughary Field to finish up their regular season.  Adam Blum (Farmington) and Tyler Beers (North County) led the way for Mineral Area each hitting 3 run home-runs.  The Cardinals got a good pitching performance out of Freshman Bubba Bradshaw in the 8-5 win.  Up next for the Cardinals is the all important Region XVI Tournament. The tournament will be held in Joplin, Missouri.  Seeds, times and dates to be announced.

(5/3/10) Men's Baseball splits final two Region XVI games.  The Mineral Area Baseball team won one of two against North Central Missouri College this weekend losing the first game 4-1 before winning the second game 11-1.  The Cardinals were led in the second game once again by a strong pitching performance from Scott Jones (Sullivan).  Jones went 5 innings allowing just six hits and one run.  Festus grad Korey Domenick went 2 for 3 including a grand slam to help lead the Cardinals offense.  MAC will now play a doubleheader Tuesday against John A. Logan at home to finish up their regular season.

(4/28/10)  Cardinals fall to Jefferson College on Tuesday.  MAC Baseball lost a doubleheader to the Jefferson College Vikings on Tuesday.  Jeffco delivered two strong pitching performances from Matt Stites and Dalton Friend. Jefferson won the first game 8-0 and the second game 3-1. Scott Jones threw a complete game for Mineral Area in game 2 keeping the game close throughout.

The Cardinals have 5 games left for the regular season against 3 teams.  They will play, in order, a single game against Southwestern Illinois College on Thursday up in Belleville starting at 2:00.  They will then play two against North Central on Sunday at 1:00 before finishing up with two against John A. Logan on Tuesday, May 4th at 1:00.  Both of these doubleheaders are at Hal Loughary Field on the MAC Campus.  The Cardinals will then play in the Region XVI Tournament down in Joplin, Missouri starting on May 11th.

(4/27/10)  Mineral Area to play Jefferson today at Wilson Rozier.  The Mineral Area baseball team will try and make up two games against Jefferson College at 3:00 at Wilson Rozier Park in Farmington.  The Cardinals have had two consecutive rainouts against Jeffco and Central Methodist JV. 

(4/19/10)  MAC gets two big Region XVI wins against Crowder.  The Mineral Area Baseball team got a measure of revenge against the Region on Sunday with two impressive wins over a 1st place team.  The Crowder Roughriders entered the contest tied with Jefferson College on top of the standings, but came away with two losses after MAC defeated them 10-4 and then 3-1.  Crowder (28-18) was ranked 22nd in the latest NJCAA Poll.  The Cardinals won both games in large part due to impressive pitching performances from Dustin Hunter and Bubba Bradshaw.  Hunter (Senath-Hornersville) went the distance in game one, allowing only 3 earned runs.  In the second game, Bradshaw (Oakville) threw a complete game allowing only 1 run.  MAC (15-23) will try and get two MCCAC conference wins against Florissant Valley on the road Tuesday starting at 1:00.

(4/16/10)  Sophomore Tyler Beers signs letter of intent with Murray State. Murray State University, a Division I school out Murray, Kentucky has landed one of MAC's top players the last few years. Tyler Beers out of North County High School, has been a standout pitcher and 1st baseman for the Cardinals.  He currently leads the team in innings pitched and strikeouts.  The Racers are currently 18-13 overall and compete in the Ohio Valley Conference.

(4/16/10) MAC goes on the road to win a pair of MCCAC and Region XVI games. The Mineral Area Baseball team went down to Poplar Bluff yesterday to win a pair against the Three Rivers Raiders.  MAC won both games by the score of 9-7.  MAC (13-21) will resume their region schedule with four home games this weekend, facing St. Charles on Saturday and Crowder on Sunday. The first pitch against both opponents is slated for noon.

(4/14/10)  Cardinals earn split against Maplewoods in a tale of two different games.  Mineral Area Baseball exploded for 17 runs in the first game topping Maplewoods C.C. by the score of 17-6.  The defending Region XVI Champions rebounded in the second game, however to beat MAC 10-0.  In the first game  Korey Domenick (Festus) tied the first game at 1 with a home run.  MAC followed Domenick's homer with 5 more hits and 7 first inning runs on their way to the 11 run victory.   MAC (11-21) will travel to Poplar Bluff on Thursday to play MCCAC and Region XVI rival Three Rivers at 1:00 P.M.

(4/9/10) Vikings get the best of Cardinals in a sweep at Hillsboro.  Men's Baseball dropped two games yesterday to Jefferson College by the scores of 2-0 and 12-2.  The Cardinals got an excellent pitching performance in game 1 from Sophomore Dustin Hunter (Senath, MO) who allowed just one earned run on 8 hits while striking out two. Unfortunately, for the Cardinals, he was outdone by Jeffco ace Matt Stites who threw a 5 hit shutout for the Vikings.  In the second game the Vikings got 3 first inning runs and 14 combined hits for the 12-2 victory.  MAC will have a busy weekend ahead starting with Forest Park on Saturday at noon at Hal Loughary Field.  They will then play back to back doubleheaders with Maplewoods on Sunday in Kansas City, and Tuesday at home both starting 1:00 P.M.

(4/7/10) MAC splits Region XVI and MCCAC doubleheader with Meramec. Baseball won one of two games yesterday at Hal Loughary Field.  They lost the first game 7-5 in 10 innings but came back to win the nightcap by the score of 4-1.  Scott Jones (Sullivan) was the star of game 2 throwing a complete game spreading out 7 hits over 7 innings for the win.  Mineral Area (9-15) will now play Jefferson College on Thursday up in Hillsboro.

(4/5/10)  Cardinals split doubleheader with Florissant Valley. The Mineral Area Baseball Team split two games with Florrisant Valley on Friday.  MAC won the first game 8-2 and lost the second game 6-5 in 11 innings.  Tyler Beers (North County) delivered a strong pitching performance in game 1, going 7 innings allowing only two earned runs.  Ty Van Schoyck (Sherwood, Arkansas) went 3 for 4 and Richie Stanley (Owensboro, KY) and Clint Cashen (Corbin, KY) contributed 2 hits each.  The Cardinals (8-14) lost 6-5 in extra innings in the second game.  MAC will play Meramec on Tuesday at home at 1:00 P.M. and travel to Jefferson College on Thursday.

(3/31/10)  Cardinals fall to MCCAC and Region XVI foe St. Charles.

MAC Baseball lost a doubleheader up in St. Charles yesterday by the scores of 6-5 and 6-1.  Mineral Area was unable to come up with the first game victory despite 3 home runs by Nick Cox (Pine Bluff, AR), Korey Domenick (Festus, MO) and Tyler Beers (North County).  MAC (7-13) will play Florissant Valley at home starting at 1:00 P.M.

(3/29/10)  Mineral Area loses MCCAC and Region XVI doubleheader to Three Rivers.  The Mineral Area Baseball team fell to conference rival Three Rivers by the scores of 1-0 and 6-3 in extra innings on Saturday.  In the first game the Cardinal's Tyler Beers was locked in a pitchers duel with Clint Horn of Three Rivers.  Horn threw a complete game shutout over 7 innings only allowing 1 hit.  Beers nearly matched him going 7 innings himself, allowing 1 run on 4 hits.

In game 2 the Cardinals fell 6-3 in 8 innings.  Dylan Stockton of Three Rivers hit a bases clearing triple in the 8th inning to give the Raiders the win.  MAC made it interesting in the bottom half of the 8th inning, but came up short when complete game winner Seth McWilliams got a bases loaded strike out to end the game.  The Cardinals now fall to 7-11 on the season and will try again on Tuesday up at St. Charles Community College for a twinbill starting at 1:00 P.M.

(3/25/10)  Cardinals home game with Rend Lake is rained out.  The Mineral Area Baseball home game scheduled for today has been canceled due to weather.  They will play the makeup game tomorrow at 3:00 P.M. against Rend Lake in a single 9 inning game.  The Cardinals will play against Three Rivers on Saturday at noon.  There will be tailgaiting starting at 11:00 along with free hot dogs, hamburgers, soda, water and a megaphone full of peanuts for the first 100 fans.

The Cardinals scheduled makeup game with Rend Lake for Friday, March 26th has been canceled due to wet field conditions. 

(3/24/10)  Huge comeback helps Cardinals earn MCCAC split with Forest Park. The Mineral Area College Baseball team got a huge, morale boosting win on Tuesday up in St. Louis against MCCAC foe Forest Park.  The Cardinals were without many of their regulars due to illness and managed to salvage a split in the second game despite being down 7-0 early.  Local products led the way with Adam Blum (Farmington) and Tyler Beers (North County) each adding Home Runs late to key the Cards 11-9 victory.  MAC (7-9) lost the first game 5-3 and will now play a non-conference doubleheader with Rend Lake, at Hal Loughary Field, tomorrow at 1:00.

(3/19/10)  Mineral Area earns split against Region XVI North Central. The Mineral Area Baseball team went to Trenton, MO and split a doubleheader with North Central losing the first game 11-4 but rebounding to gain a convincing 14-6 win.  The Cardinals have a busy weekend ahead playing two home doubleheaders against Maplewoods C.C. and Central Methodist University.

(3/17/10)  Cardinals fall to #10 John A. Logan in Carterville. The Mineral Area Baseball team lost two games on the road yesterday to the John A. Logan Volunteers by the scores of 8-0 and 10-5.  The Volunteers (15-4) have a very strong baseball tradition winning nine conference titles and six Region 24 championships.  MAC (5-7) will look to get back on track with two important Region XVI games against North Central tomorrow at 1:00 in Trenton, MO.

(3/15/10)  Baseball team has successful spring trip.  The MAC Baseball team went 4-2 over Spring Break.  The Cardinals split with Faulkner State (AL), swept Bishop State (AL), and split with Holmes (MS).  MAC is now 5-5 and will now play John A. Logan in Carterville, IL tomorrow at 1:00 P.M.

(3/5/10)  MAC earns a split with Illinois Central in home opener.  The Mineral Area College Baseball team played two games on Thursday at home, losing the first game 3-1 and winning the second one 8-7.  MAC (1-3) was down late in the 2nd game but Sophomore Mike Bigogno (Eureka) hit a two-run home run to tie the game which the Cardinals ultimately won in extra innings.  The first game was highlighted by Tyler Beers (North County)strong pitching performance but the Cardinals were done in by a two-run home run by the Cougars (3-6) Drew Koeppel.  MAC will now head south for their spring trip starting in Bay Minette, Alabama against Faulkner State Sunday, March 7th, at 2:00 P.M.

(3/2/10) Game with Southeastern Illinois is canceled due to inclimate weather. 

MAC will play Illinois Central Community College out of Peoria, Illinois on Thursday starting at 1:00 P.M. at Hal Loughary Field.  This game was not a part of the original schedule. 

The game scheduled for today against Southeastern Illinois out of Harrisburg, Illinois has been canceled.  No make up date has been determined yet.  The Cardinals will next play as a part of their Spring Trip down in Bay Minette, Alabama against Faulkner State Sunday, March 7th, at 2:00 P.M.

(3/1/10)  MAC Baseball falls to #27 Crowder down in Neosho.  The Mineral Area Baseball Team finally got their season started on Saturday with two Region XVI games.  MAC rallied from a 4-1 deficit to take a 5-4 lead into the 7th before ultimately falling 6-5 in game one.  The Cardinals lost the second game by the score of 8-2.  MAC will try and rebound with two more road games in Harrisburg, Illinois on Tuesday against Southeastern Community College at 1:00 P.M.

(2/22/10)  Cardinals canceled again due to bad weather.   The Cardinals scheduled games with Southwestern Illinois College on Tuesday and Kaskaskia on Thursday have been canceled due to bad weather.  The MAC Baseball team will try again on Saturday with a Region XVI game to open up their season against 27th ranked Crowder in Neosho starting at 1:00 P.M. 

(2/17/10)  Cards home opener with Central Methodist is canceled.  The Mineral Area Baseball team will play their first game of the season, weather permitting, against Southwestern Illinois College on Tuesday at 2:00 at Hal Loughary Field. 

MAC will then hit the road for a game against Kaskaskia on Thursday, followed by a Region XVI doubleheader in Neosho against #27 Crowder on Saturday.

(2/8/10)  Baseball signs seven in early signing period.  Mineral Area Head Baseball Coach Jim Gerwitz has announced the Cardinals have signed 7 players for next year's team.  MAC has committments from two local standouts in Ryan Calvird out of Park Hills, (Central High School) and Kyle Nettles of Bonne Terre (West County).  Briar Langley from Hillsboro, (Hillsboro HS), Brandon Weir (Rockwood Summitt), Dylan Mayes, (Sedalia), Ivan Pyszka (Knob Noster) and Seth Wild from O'Fallon, Illinois have also committed. 

This years Cardinals will open up on February 20th as a part of the Homecoming Activities against Central Methodist University JV.

(11/24/09)  Mineral Area Baseball releases Spring 2010 Schedule.  The Cardinals will head to Pensacola, FL this year for their Spring Trip.  They will open up as a part of the Homecoming Activities on February 20th against Central Methodist JV.

(10/5/09) MAC Baseball Fall Schedule comes to an end next week. The Mineral Area College Cardinal Baseball Team finishes up their fall schedule next week. They play two games during the Region XVI Classic on Friday with games against Three Rivers at 1:00 and North Central at 4:00 in Neosho, MO. They will play a makeup game against B.C. Sports Academy on Sunday, Oct. 11th at Noon, at Hal Loughary field on the MAC campus.  Their last game of the Fall will be next Thursday Oct. 15th at Meramec at 1:00 P.M.

(9/28/09) The Mineral Area Baseball Team plays two at home this week. MAC Baseball plays at 12:30 on Tuesday against Meramec. They play Rend Lake at 2:00 Thursday. Both games are at home at Hal Loughary Field on the MAC Campus.  They will play Missouri S&T on Sunday in Rolla at 10:00 A.M.

(9/21) MAC Baseball travels to Meramec on Tuesday at 2:00. They will also play Flo Valley at 10:00 and Jefferson at 12:00 at the South Field at Forest Park on Saturday in the Region XVI Fall Tournament.  

(9/14) MAC Baseball hosts Kaskaskia at Hal Loughary Field on Tuesday at 1:00. The Cards travel to John A. Logan for a 1:00 doubleheader on Thursday, and to Springfield on Saturday for games against Three Rivers and Longview.

(8/31) The MAC Cardinals Baseball team opens up their Fall Schedule at Kaskaskia. The Baseball team will travel to Centralia, Illinois tomorrow and start play at 1:00 P.M.  They will open up their home schedule on Saturday against BC Academy at 1:00.
