Course Name: Biology

Course Description:
Biology is a class that is geared to touch on a few of the major topics in biology in order to give the students a brief overview of a regular Biology I class. Topics to be covered are: Lab safety, cells & organelles, genetics, classification, ecology and biomes.
Course Objectives:
The students will be able to:
maintain a portfolio with daily assignments and completed work
pass a lab safety test with a minimum of 90%
classify organisms into the five kingdoms by using knowledge of classification schemes as well as cellular information
describe the ecology in the various biomes
make oral presentations on current science events
Expectations of Students:
Be prepared-bring all necessary materials to class
Keep up with all assignments and complete all assignments
Student Evaluation:
Quizzes & Tests = 50%
Labs = 25%
Daily Assignments & Homework = 20%
Portfolio Word Completed = 5%
