Course Name: Biology

Course Description:

   Biology is a class that is geared to touch on a few of the major topics in biology in order to give the students a brief overview of a regular Biology I class. Topics to be covered are: Lab safety, cells & organelles, genetics, classification, ecology and biomes.

 

Course Objectives:

The students will be able to:

•  maintain a portfolio with daily assignments and completed work
•  pass a lab safety test with a minimum of 90%
•  classify organisms into the five kingdoms by using knowledge of classification schemes as well as cellular information
•  describe the ecology in the various biomes
•  make oral presentations on current science events

 

Expectations of Students:

•  Be prepared-bring all necessary materials to class
•  Keep up with all assignments and complete all assignments

 

Student Evaluation:

•  Quizzes & Tests = 50%
•  Labs = 25%
•  Daily Assignments & Homework = 20%
•  Portfolio Word Completed = 5%
