(PARK HILLS) -- In one of the most anticipated productions of any musical in the Parkland, the Mineral Area College Little Theater Guild will stage Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning rock opera, “Rent.”

The show’s performance, April 18-21, begins at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for students and seniors. Tickets will be available at the door or at MAC’s bookstore before the performances.

The musical, set against the gritty backdrop of New York’s Eastside, follows a year in the life of eight friends who are struggling with their art and coping with life’s realities: career, love and the HIV/AIDS epidemic of the early 1990s.

While it began as a workshop production in 1993, Rent would open off-Broadway in 1996 and go on to have a 12-year run with over 5,000 performances. The production garnered 13 major awards, including a Tony Award for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. Larson’s musical also received a Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The Little Theater Guild will bring to stage a rare piece of musical expression that embodies the human spirit through iconic songs, such as, “La Vie Bohème,” “Santa Fe,” “Your Eyes,” and the iconic opening song, “Seasons of Love.”

Helping to bring this life-changing musical to the stage are some of the Little Theater Guild’s most talented young artists, many the same age as the characters they are portraying.

The cast includes:

Mark: Zach Pinkley, Desloge,
Roger: Jordan Duncan, Farmington,
Mimi: Tiffany Everitt, Potosi,
Maureen: Bailey Jackson*, Potosi,
Joanne: Christon Hahn*, Farmington,
Angel: Danny Montgomery, Desloge,

Come join this young cast as they learn what can happen in 525,600 minutes when things are only measured by love.
