Question to ListServ:

Has anyone else had trouble with reordering topics in Collaboration>Forums? We are running 7.1.1 now, but it seems we have always had trouble getting the topics to show or stay in the professor's chosen order. The Manage Category/reordering screen (below) does not really seem to do the trick. (Just to clarify, the three 6’s below are system-generated. I didn’t type them in that way. That is just how the screen comes up.) Ordering the categories seems to work fine, so our work-around has been to create new categories for each topic that we wish to have control over, but this seems to be duplicating effort when it should not really be necessary. Any solutions would be appreciated.

• This is a perpetual problem. We're running 7.1.3 and it's still not fixed. If you re-order the topics twice, (meaning re-order them, click save and then re-order them again) the order will stick and they will be in correct numerical order. However, whenever you add an additional topic to the category, you'll most likely have to re-order again. So it helps to know exactly what your topics will be before you create them.

• Ours always does multiples of forum numberings when we reorder but we have learned to just number the first two when reordering and save it. Then do it again with all the numbers correct and as stated already, somehow they all take the second time.
