Mineral Area College has partnered with google to bring you a new e-mail system:

Google Apps!

As a MAC student or employee, you have access to a Google Apps account through Mineral Area College. This account can be accessed from anywhere that an Internet connection exists. To access it quickly, you can click the link to MAC e-mail on MAC's home page or you can go to http://mail.mineralarea.edu/. (Notice that you won't enter 'www'.) When you are on campus, you may access it by clicking the appropriate shortcut on any desktop computer.

You will then be presented with a login screen which will consist of user name and password. Your user name will be the same as your network login ID. This is normally composed of your first initial and last name. For example, Jane Smith would use jsmith. There is a limit of 8 characters, so if your last name is longer than seven characters, some of your name will be truncated. For example, Jane Smithworthy would use jsmithwo. Additionally, if Jane's brother John had already enrolled and was using jsmith, then Jane's network and e-mail ID would include her middle initial. For example, jlsmith might be her user ID. If you are in doubt, just contact the Help Desk in the Technology Center and they can give you your user ID. The Help Desk is located in offices 2 and 3 in the Technology Center, phone numbers 573-518-2137 or 573-518-2240.

Your email address will be your userID@MineralArea.edu. For example, jsmith@MineralArea.edu. It's not case sensitive, it's just easier to read with the capital letters included.

Your password will be your social security number (no spaces or dashes) the first time that you log in. Immediately, you will be required to change your password to something else. The new password is your choice, but it must be at least 6 characters long. Contact the Help Desk at any time if you forget your password or if it quits working. They can re-set it for you.

You will also be required to enter a security word that will appear the first time that you log in. This isn't something that you'll have to remember or type in again; it's just for web page security purposes. The word will be different for each person and will display in a different type of font. Just re-enter the word that you see in the space provided. You shouldn't be bothered by this again... You'll need to read and understand Google's Terms of Service that will display and as soon as you accept the policy, you'll be in!
