Question to ListServ:

I received a question from a professor regarding her gradebook. When she goes into the setup and chooses “View Coursework Breakdown”. She sees in the column “% of Grade” a tilde (~). Some of the units have a tilde in front of it, some don’t. I am not certain what this means in relation to the gradebook and why some columns would/would not have it. Can anyone shed some light on this.

• The tilde mean “approximately”. You will see it there when there is some weight rounding/truncating involved.

• We assumed this was the case, however, some of the units don’t have the tilde present. Could this be because the unit only has 1 assignment therefore it is not an approximate weighting but a definite one (ie unit 1 at 12% has assignment 1 at 100% and therefore it’s weighting is 12% of the total grade)
