Question to ListServ:
Does anyone know if there is a way in the Coursework portlet a professor can set timing for an online quiz differently for students with learning disabilities without other students in the course being able to open that particular quiz?

- It is possible to set up a duplicate quiz and make it available to only one student or a small group of students. The duplicate quiz could be set up as an extra credit assignment worth the same number of points as the other quiz. That way the total points would be the same in Gradebook. All that is necessary to have a duplicate quiz is upload the same quiz into the course and then change the name.
- What I would do is set up the duplicate quiz as you normally would but set the deadline for taking it early enough so it would be unavailable to all students by the time you make it available. Then you can go into the quiz and arrange for a retake for whichever students you want to have access to it. As long as the quiz is set up for extra credit, other students' grades will not be affected. You can also set the quiz so it is not visible to anyone when it is not available. That way only the students who have the "retake" opportunity will even see the quiz listed.
- If you are setting this up so students who need extra time or other special help will be taking it instead of the other one, it would be necessary to make sure that the students know they are to ignore the regular quiz or test and take the other one instead. They will see a zero for the regular one, but then the extra credit points from the special quiz will offset the lost points.
